rivkadr, that's exactly what my doc told me to do years ago. It depends on when you start the 7 day medication, when taking the antibiotic, that can determine if you need 2 rounds. This time I needed 2 rounds myself because I started on one and then it was switched to a different one. Had 7 days of one and it wasn't doing enough so it was changed to another and had 14 days of the new one. 3 days into the new antibiotic I started having trouble. started the 7 day dose with the same results as you and had to use another 7 days. All is fine after the second 7 day dose. My doc doesn't like to prescribe the pill unless he really has to because it can be very hard on the stomach and a lot of people can't keep it down. When I was in school, I think I shampooed 2 or 3 times a week. I had great hair. When I left home and got into the workforce, I found I needed to shower more often because I was a waitress and smelled like food. With showering more often, came shampooing more often. When I had my 3rd baby and became a stay at home mom, I didn't wash my hair as often. Who has time to shower and shampoo daily? Then back to the workforce I went. I went back to washing daily whether it needed it or not. I've always known it was hard on the hair. My hair did thin quite a bit after the birth of my daughter (baby #3), but it was still very managable. But the older I get the less managable it is. It dries easier, frizzes, is fly-away..... I think dying my hair doesn't help. Harsh chemicals, even though I only colour my hair 2 or 3 times a year. The grey roots get really long before I colour again. Right now, they're probably 1 1/2" long. Because of this thread, I'm trying two things: organic shampoo and conditioner along with the mouse to put less chemicals on my hair. And shampoo less often to get the natural oils to do their job, rather than continue to strip my hair of what mother nature intended for it to have. I may also switch to the organic moisturizers and face cleansers. Back to basics. It can't hurt to try. Can it?

I'd have gone to the hospital if they could have done anything for me there that I'm not already doing, and they couldn't. Chisue, supplental oxygen doesn't help my disease - wish it did, even if using it is a pain. I have no trouble getting enough fluids and have been drinking extra water which has helped - this antibiotic is excreted via urine so lots of water means it doesn't build up in my body. I have also figured out which foods trigger my bronchospasm and am now avoiding them. I'm basically eating a very bland, healthy diet (what they feed people in KY hospitals should move them straight to the cardiac ward - it's awful and SO unhealthy!). I also discovered that using my Nasonex with two sprays per nostril instead of one, has made a huge difference - post nasal drip was contributing to the bronchospasm. And the Aleve is working its magic, so no steroids! Yeah!!! I never can sleep when in the hospital - sheets are all wrong, bed is all wrong, they wake one up in the middle of the night to take ones temp when one has not had a fever. It would utterly exhaust me and be very stressful with no benefit. I know this old body very well and what works for it! I feel much better today, so while all this is working, I'm sticking to it. DS still wants to go to London - I'll just have to play that by ear as I have to feel well enough to GET there, not be there. That's the exhausting part. Thanks SO much for all your concern. I used to live in St Louis and our church (and my children's schools) was just down the road from Monsanto. Probably one-fourth of our church membership was employed by Monsanto in executive positions. I truly do not believe they would work for and develop products that are killing tons of people. It makes sense to eat as few prepared foods as possible as many of the nutrients get lost in the commercial preparation. Fresh fruits and veggies, home made waffles, fresh meat - these are good foods and most of us thrive on them. I have had allergies since childhood - first eczema and later asthma. I had allergy tests done when I was about 9-10 - I was allergic to practically everything - everything except the milk I detested. I was allergic to wheat, nuts, chocolate - you name it. I was put in the world's most restrictive diet (there is a bit of flour in many canned soups, so my mother had to make soup). She made rice muffins and cooked (awful!). She was a woman with a mission to "cure" her only child of the curse of eczema. It didn't work. In fact, my eczema got worse - dermatologist thought it was probably due to the stress of all this highly restrictive eating and wasn't convinced that eczema was always allergy related. So, we gave up all the hoopla and the eczema continued until about a month before my 23rd birthday. It disappeared when I went on birth control pills right before getting married. Connection? Who knows - have never again had it and haven't taken the pills for decades. The asthma came right after the birth of my first child - again, no one knows if there was a connection. Allergies are mysterious things and even the best allergists will admit that there is more that they don't know than they do know. I have had sensitivities to many, many drugs - not an allergic reaction (that would often be anaphylactic shock). No one knows why. There is no question that antibiotics have been overused in the past and still are in some situations. But that has led to bacteria becoming resistant to the antibiotics. If one has the flu and no bronchial infection and ones doctor prescribes an antibiotic, question him intensively - he better have a very, very good reason for treating a virus with an antibiotic. If he doesn't, find another doctor. But if he has a good reason (secondary bacterial infection), then for heaven's sake - take the antibiotic. I don't get my medical information from media celebrities or TV shows - especially when they are invariably selling something. I would not trust this woman as an authority on anything other than self-promotion.
