My eldest daughter's birthday is in mid-May and she had a few slumber parties outside in a big camping tent. They roasted marshmallows over the fire bowl and got sick on Smores. My middle child's birthday is in August so she always had pool parties. My son's was in early March when it's still on the cool side, so we ate inside, but did have a few games setup in the yard, like a bow and arrow with a target and a pinata, and we did a scavenger hunt one year. We had a large 8' long wood picnic table that was well used when the kids were younger. Grilled hot dogs and hamburgers aren't expensive to feed a crowd so we served them at every party. Fun times. :-) For summer activities with kids, you can't go wrong with a fire bowl, picnic table, trampoline, and pool -- none broke the bank and they used them more than anything else we had, even the dirtbikes and 4-wheeler.

I like the bocce ball court, we just do it on the lawn but grass & lumps make the action unpredictable.

Unplug? That's the norm around here....when its not - 3 degrees or therabouts...then its 'rug up' The Pic is of the creek at the boundary of my backyard...plenty of room to "unplug".
