Memorial Day still likes lots of water here. I'm tempted to just chop all the forming buds off in the summer while the thrips are partying here and see if maybe the blooms get better in the fall. The blooms now are very funky, weird and sad because of thrips. The photos of this rose in other gardens, reports of wonderful fragrance and the healthy foliage here makes me want to keep trying with it even though it seems to like extra water here. It must be good if the thrips like it this much! If it's good enough for bugs to love it's good enough for me. I just have to figure out how to manage the bugs. I can't say anything bad about Summer Romance. It has quickly become one of my absolute favorite roses. The BEST fragrance. So many blooms. Heat tolerant (really unbelievable heat tolerance for me actually). So quick to repeat. Pretty foliage, super healthy and graceful growth habit.

Your new PC has solid state storage instead of the more traditionally common hard drive with a spinning platter. That's a good feature. This is the more technologically modern approach and is now more common and available for more reasonable prices for manufacturers and consumers than before. These are much faster than hard drives and I'm sure this PC comes on quickly when started from being off. The tradeoff is because solid state is more expensive than traditional hard drives, "standard equipment" is a smaller size. You have a 128 GB (gigabyte) "drive". My 14 inch PC, about 5 years old, has a 500 GB hard drive but it's very slow. What you have would be excellent for travel and casual use. As for something to store photos on, etc., the space may be limited (depending on how much you have) In this case, because the hard drive is solid state, it's been configured with a small "virtual memory". With my cutting board example, think of what you have as a smaller (and slower) additional cutting board you can use just to hold what was moved off of the main board because it's needed for something else. On your PC, a small portion of the "hard drive" has been set up for this task as virtual memory, a cache or swap file, to speed up operations. For others who find their PC gets bogged down, you can set up your own virtual memory without opening up the PC. Get a fast SD card or thumb drive of at least 4 GB and configure it using the WIndows Ready Boost feature. For PCs with inadequate RAM, it can help.

My mom became the best BS'er up until this last month and even though she couldn't carry or start the conversation she had her way of making you do so without realizing she didn't have a clue what was being talked about. Most anyone that met her for the 1st time was surprised that she had Alzheimer's even though seconds later she wouldn't remember them or the conversation. My sister's and I chuckle about this as we now wonder how much she BS'd before the disease as we never knew her to do this and especially so well! And then there was the day my high styling mom who always had her make-up on before anyone got up in the morning in her other life was asked if she would like a bib during her meal and she gleefully said "yes" rather than the glare they would have gotten before, My sisters and I figure she saw all the other residents with one on and she wasn't going to let her peers out style her-lol... This is a horrible disease on so many levels. My mom's 3 siblings and mother had it. I have more friends than not that either they have a spouse or parent that have it or have died with it. And since this disease is different for each individual and your road may be different than the path I'm on, the best thing you can do is educate yourself (so you don't beat yourself up), find a support group especially if you do not have other family members to support/share this, give her lots of love, have an open mind, be flexible, take what humor you can out of the situation and be the best advocate you can for her.

I remember her energy and enthusiasm. And her attention to detail. I'm fortunate to be a survivor of advanced breast cancer and was always impressed by her humor, especially going through a DIY kitchen renovation (which we have also done ourselves). She came across as a very positive, outgoing woman. My heart goes out to those who loved her and will miss her. I hope she passed peacefully and without pain.
