How is Your Day?

It is bright and sunny and warm today. This afternoon, Mike and Amber planted my 75 foot row of russet potatoes. Now hope they grow! I am glad to get those in the ground. Amber and I took Alyssa on several rides around the property after we got back from getting big hot ham and cheese sandwiches from Hardee's today. What is everyone else doing this day? How is your weather?

You'll have lots of potatoes, I'm sure!

It's 36 degrees here, rain mixed with snow.

I'm puttering around the house, doing a little laundry and Facebooking until my work shift starts later this afternoon.

It's 70ÃÂº here right now, and the sun trying to shine. Had family home until about noon. Pretty quiet day now!

A bit hectic. It's a gorgeous day--warm enough that I left my jacket in the car when we went shopping (even though we had to walk in from the back of the lot.) So, anyway... Up early to tear around the house getting it ready for our open house this afternoon. DD came over to help clean and 'stage' the place. We had a big platter of cookies in the kitchen, hot cider on the range, scenting the house. Real estate agent got here about quarter to 12, and by 12:02 we had our first looker--we hadn't even gotten out the door, ourselves. We went out to lunch, then did some shopping while our real estate agent worked hard for us. We did pop home for a moment to leave off our leftovers, and the place was buzzing. All in all, he had 8 parties go through in 3 hours. GREAT turnout! That's more than twice as many lookers that went through in 6 months with our first agent. Not expecting miracles, but at least this guy's getting folks in the door. At least a couple of them did seem fairly interested. Fingers crossed that something comes of this.

It was quiet here too. My DD and SIL had a big cookout for his family and of course invited us but we don't know his family well and thought it best to just hang out the two of us. It rained all day so our local fireworks were postponed. Instead of grilling we went to our favorite Chinese restaurant and then came home and watched DVD Nite at the Smithsonian. Absolutely hilarious. Looking forward to the second movie which isn't out on DVD yet. Then watched the PBS special from Washington and then later the Boston pops concert with Neil Diamond. Don't need anymore fireworks until the big display in Cincinnati on Labor day. Hope everyone's Fourth was special to each in their way. I too have so many thoughts of when my DD and DS were little and we had BBQs and hayrides etc for all our friends. We're all older and more settled but I love my memories.

A guy was going fishing and on the way he stopped at a bait & tackle shop. As he entered the shop he noticed that the girl at the register was blind. He grabbed a container of worms and on the way back to the register he stopped to browse a rack of lures, and as he stood there he felt that pang of gas building up... He looked around and there were a couple other customers in the far corner of the room, but they would never hear anything, then he looked at the cashier and thought to himself,,shes blind so she won't know who did it, and he let er go....Varooommmmm..... A few minutes later he stepped over to the register to check out and the girl says that will be $27. "$27 dollars for a can of worms,,are you crazy?" She says,"no, the worms are $2 and it will be $20 for the duck call and $5 for the stink bait."

cloudy and overcast. It was mostly sunny earlier. Was outside and watered the plants (at work), and it got cooler, and cooler, and cloudier and cloudier... and on my drive to the apartment it misted.

I am busy. Woke up way early, and vacuumed the shelves in the closets, and emptied two boxes.

Just now, before coming "home"! Love that.. coming home... :)

I stopped at the apartment and got my plants. They are on my front porch for now.

Sue, I sure feel for Mike and Amber. 75' of potatoes? Holy cow! We gardened with neighbors once and guess who got to get down on their knees and plant those blankety-blank pieces of potates in the mounds. Never again. I have deep respect for those Idaho potato growers!

It's very warm today but not hot enough for the air to come on. I puttered around cleaning in the kitchen, playing on the computer, read the papers and did the NY Times crossword, which takes me an hour at least. Made slaw, sliced the corned beef really thin for sandwiches.

Talked to my daughter and SIL on the phone. DD just found out she got the job she applied for and gave her 2 weeks notice at her present job. Steamed the Florida room floor and got the quilt back on the bed--it was a little damp in the middle when I took it out of the dryer so it's been drying on the bed in the guest room. Watched a little of the NASCAR race, but then Tony Stewart had an accident. Never did see if he finished or not.

That's it for today--aren't you sorry you asked--haha! OK, wake up everybody :-)

Wow Sue! Sure glad it was them and not me. However, if you find that you have a huge surplus of potatoes......I hear they ship well to Canada :-)

LOL Patti, it's okay, you didn't bore us with your days activities!

Sunny and very warm today. Yuck. It's too darned warm too soon. It's only mid-March for crying out loud. We took my snow tires off. We store the tires at Mom and Wally's and he has a lift truck thing that we hoist the car up on and do one tire at a time. I noticed that his lilac bush is really starting to poke out.

Got a few grocery specials on the way home.

Gorgeous weather here today.

We were pretty busy. I got up at 6:30 to slap a coat of polyeurathane on the back bedroom floor before I got dressed (I've taken to painting in my PJ's so I don't ruin any more clothes!). Dh and I went out to breakfast, and then grocery shopping. Once home, I made a big vat of cheese sauce. Then put a bit of cover up paint on a few blemishes on the walls of the bedroom I've been working on. Showered. Had lunch. Then DD came over and we made a couple of batches of cookies for the shower she's throwing next weekend. Went to the Christmas Tree shop for a few more bits and pieces. Helped DH cut a plywood topper so they can use the air hockey table as a serving table. Then we had dinner (Welsh Rarebit, tots and applesauce). Haven't done much after dinner--think I'll be ready for bed tonight.

After church and lunch out with friends, I came home and watched basketball. Then I watched the North Carolina-Creighton game. I was so happy NC won. We have a local boy playing for NC, his name is Harrison Barnes. We have another local boy playing for Creighton, his name is Doug McDermott. Doug's dad is the coach at Creighton.
I have a friend who moonlights doing yard work, etc. He and his friend came over cut down a very tall bush for me and cleaned all of the debris from my backyard. They hauled it all away. He doesn't charge me much so I always pay him more than he asks for.
