If the door hits the floor and then reverses it is traveling too far in the down direction. Here is the way it works. When the door hits the floor, the motor stalls and the interrupter cup quits spinning and the RPM sensor board quits sending a pulse to the logic board. The logic board reverses the motor and the door opens. What needs to be done is figure out why the 'down limit' is not working or if it is just out of adjustment. The easiest way to do this is remove the cover of the motor unit and watch the limit switch assembly while the door is closing. Turn the down limit several turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. This should get the door to stop short of hitting the floor. Now some tweaking will be involved to get it right. You have it right about the thermal protector. It is to protect the motor from over heating and sometimes seems a pain you know where.

Thank you Judy. I did not get close enough to the Lady Banks rose but I think it was just supported by that large tree it was climbing in to. I've seen several of them around Berkley as well and they all just seem to be climbing into large trees - they need something huge to grow into. Do you mean Fortune's Double Yellow? That was a stunner and it's on my list of roses I want if we ever move to a bigger garden :o) Thanks Leslie - you know if you can make it even once it's worth it - these roses are allowed to grow to their full potential size and it's just so amazing to see what they can do. Magnets don't work well enough; neither do suction cups. Maybe it's this tub or something, but I still get water rolling off the tub. I needed something that would carry the TOP of the shower curtain around, so that it wasn't pulling the bottom of it back out.

Thanks for the helpful responses! I agree that the peninsula will be a little tight, but I'm not liking the island, either. I'd be staring at the wall, while prepping and the stools (when someone is sitting in them) will be a little close to the wall, to easily walk behind. As much as I like this plan (with French doors into the dining room) I do have some concerns. It all feels a little tight, especially with the traffic that will be going through the kitchen to get to the sun room and outside. So, I'm reconsidering my alternate floor plan. The big concern I've had is getting the walls opened up so much...but this older part of the house is going to need some structural work, so it might not be a big deal, after all. Anyway, still a little tight walking by the wood stove, but if I can make the stairs start a little further back...that would take care of a lot of the problem. I'm thinking about having a landing at the top of the stairs and then bend back (with three or four steps) over the hallway, upstairs. I don't have a picture of the upstairs, but just imagine another foot or two, for the entryway to the kitchen. This would give me room for a larger work island...maybe even with a small prep sink. I've been thinking about using a larger, one bowl farm sink, for the main sink. It would be a good size for washing large cutting boards and big pots and pans! So, this is my alternate plan, which many of you have already seen, just for comparison. One again, thank you all for the continued help with my plan.
