Do U like Hawthorne Yellow Cabs- Need a Coordinating WHITE

Hi Everyone! I'm usually over in Kitchens, but someone said here would be a great spot for my question : )

Here is my inspiration photo:

I believe my choice for the Lowers is HC-4 Hawthorne Yellow! I planned to go lighter but I'm being brave : ) I think it's a beautiful yellow. My 2nd safer choice is Harp Strings 213. What do you think? Will Hawthorne be too much?

I was looking at Weston Flax HC-5 and also America's Heartland and Cornsilk but they were starting to look too beige/washed out in my kitchen and also next to Vermont Imperial Danby Marble...

For the uppers, Im thinking Mascarpone. Do you think it's white enough? I know there is yellow in it but next to the Hawthorne I think it reads white. Thoughts?

Another White I like is Cotton Balls OC-122.

I looked at Chantilly Lace and Snowfall White (OC-118) but I think they are a bit too white. Also Mountain Peak White (OC-121) remains an option but next to the others I see a bit of pink?

SO, do you like my yellow and what coordinating white would you choose? : )

Here are some other items... that I'm planning.. Thoughts welcomed--

Danby Marble, Walnut for Island Top (island will be white), Hawthorne, Mascarpone...

Not sure about this fabric but I like it --

I do not know about Hawthorne Yellow, but my cabinets are either America's Heartland or Cornsilk, I can't remember. I think they are Cornsilk. I know the chip looks really beige, but believe me it looks very yellow when applied. If Hawthorne Yellow is MORE yellow, it might be too much.

I do not have any good photos, but here is a rough idea of Cornsilk.

Love Hawthorne Yellow! Be aware, however, that your chip in the photo above is horizontal. The color is darker when on a vertical surface---and of course the light in the room can make it look anything from a screaming yellow to a soft butter. It's in my MBR, so I see it in all lights.

So I would try the color first in the room and see it in all lights at all times of day before you choose. It's a beautiful color and I think it would be fantastic in a kitchen.

I say -- don't overthink it. I'm definitely an "I'll know it when I see it" person and it has served me well. Don't apologize for it. I really like your patinated chandelier, your comfortably used faucet (it's got some style!) the stove -- it's relaxed, no-fixed-decade. It's no time to get uptight about finishes! I'd say you have a good sense of your own style. TRUST IT. Don't choose a finish you don't like just "to be consistent" or because someone told you you have to. I have polished nickel, antique brass, new unlacquered brass, old filthy dirty brass, stainless steel, black forged iron -- and a few other things I can't remember in my kitchen. It all gets along. In fact the more things you put together, the better it works, because it's not like you have a big beige room with 23 satin nickel handles and one polished nickel one. You have a rich crazy quilt/gumbo of elements and no single dominant one, but your good taste has selected each, and they get along because you know when they don't. I agree with Circuspeanut that some finishes just attract too much attention to themselves, and they tend to be the more modern ones like satin nickel and ORB. But if you love them, and they work in your particular mix, then go for it. Did you look at the Schoolhouse Lighting custard line of shades? Just a thought. Something to consider is that Schoolhouse, and probably some other companies too, may have options not listed on their Web sites, and may be able to make you up a custom fixture. So if you see something on their site that is very close to what you want, but in just the wrong finish, or the chain isn't right, call or e-mail and ask if that thing can be changed. I did, and the cost was like $30 extra for my particular alteration. It's always worth asking. Good luck!

I have been through at least 100 yellows looking for my lower cabinet color. Some really pretty light ones that are not (in your face) YELLOW are Benjamin Moore: America's Heartland 197, Cornsilk 198, Pale Moon , Ambiance 309, Weston Flax HC-5, Santo Domingo Cream 274, Harp Strings 213 Some of them seem beige on the swatch but when held next to white will definitely read buttercream. Vellum 207 is really nice but is deeper and I don't know how much saturation you're looking for.. We are going with Hawthorne Yellow HC-4 but that is more yellow. Our kitchen faces south and many of the yellows I mentioned above just looked too beige IN MY KITCHEN. In other rooms, they were yellow, but in my kitchen they were washed out. Also, we are going for a different look. Hope this helps a little... OH, if any of those aren't yellow enough another one might be Hay Stack 317. However, it's yellow for sure. Hawthorne yellow is a bit less vibrant I think. Good luck. Yellows are HARD! Mine change color all day long. Ones I loved at 9 am seemed to be a totally different color at 4 pm, etc : ) Oh, and get the 8x8 or 5x9 swatches online for FREE from Benjamin Moore. They will ship them for free too. Much easier to see the colors. I have hundreds of them. It's under the architect/designer section of the website but you don't really have to be either of those : ) Actually once I got down to the ones I really like I would order four of the same color and tape them together and hang a big piece of it in my kitchen. My countertops are actually 1.5". They seem pretty thick to me so I can't even imagine what 3" would look like. The stainless kicks are custom. The only reason I did custom was because that far wall with the white was built on an 8" platform in order for the cabs to meet the ceiling. Since that wall had to have custom kicks I carried it throughout the kitchen. Honestly ikea's SS (a silver/gray fool finish) looked really good for the price. If I didn't need the 8" kicks on that wall I just would have done ikea. If you're not on your knees examining the kicks you can't tell what they are. The lights over the island are 3 globe lights from West Elm. Love them and they were really affordable. The faucet is Grohe's Concetto in chrome. Love this too. It has the pull down spray feature rather than doing a separate spray. I know from your house pics that you're in AZ (so am I) and they have this faucet at Great Indoors if you want to look at it. But I ordered it online because it was cheaper. And there's no reason why you couldn't do a combo of gray snd white cabs. Maybe white built-ins and gray on the island??

No, the door isn't 7 1/4" deep! The "case depth" (without doors) is 24", the depth with the doors is 28" and 31" is the depth with the deepest part of the handles included. My cabinets are the same depth as the case, so that just the doors stick out. The fact that the handles apparently stick out 3 more inches really isn't noticeable.

bungalow- SO pretty!! Do you know what the wall color is?

kswl- Good Point. I do have a 16"x16" sample hanging on my cabinets.
The color does change from hour to hour lol

Here it is with Cotton Balls on the left and Mascarpone on the right. It looks different in person, of course.

This is hlove's kitchen with Hawthorne Yellow... : ) Definitely more saturated that the Cornsilk but especially since it's only for the lowers I think I'm okay with this.

I love everything in the 1st photo you posted as well as the light fixture and other items you have in mind. Makes me want to paint mine that color. We've used Hawthorne Yellow on bathroom walls before (not sure if that's the same color as the inspiration photo). I would do a comparison in your kitchen with Hawthorne Yellow & Cornsilk. Be sure to post photos when complete.

I think I like the marscapone with the cab color and the counter marble. Second the request for pictures!!

bungalow house- I could be wrong but I THINK you have the colors reversed?
America's heartland is lighter than Cornsilk. AH is at the top of the strip and Cornsilk is one down.
Your cabs are lighter than the wall right?

I know. That is why I am confused about the cabinet color, but my memory is AH on the walls. In reality, it is hard to see any difference between the cabinets and walls. The sheen is different so that might explain why they look so different in the photo.
