I do, love her recipes. DH loves several of her cowboy recipes, especially the steak one, and he's a very fussy eater.

Wow! That's really cool. I find her amusing. I've only tried one of her recipes.....the apple dumplings but I've made them twice and both times they were a big hit. Recently I had a skinny neighbor for dinner. She's not a dessert person (probably why she's so skinny) and she absolutely loved this dessert. Do try it, you'll love it.

I just want to know who's playing the Marlboro Man! I clicked on Jenni's link and it says the movie is based on her book, "Black Heels to Tractor Wheels" and not the blog. Either way, I think Reese Witherspoon is just about the cutest thing ever.

I like her cooking...but a couple of things on her blog left me feeling rather not so crazy about her. One was a picture of a "rattlesnake" they came across on the ranch. It was a diamond back water snake...totally harmless. A picture of a baby possum with it's eyes barely open..."climbing" a tree. Impossible. And a picture of another possum that had obviously had it's mouth tied shut before it's photo session.
I've seen the exact same thing in possums taken to the shelter. Pathetic, in my opinion. No excuse to hurt innocent creatures just to make a story about them.

Maybe someday they'll be making a movie about me....heeehee!

I tell dh all the time that someday my blog will be so well-known it will support our family...like dooce.com......hey! it doesn't hurt to dream! LOL!

Marilyn C...I have no clue what the differences are with rattlesnakes and a diamond back water snake, but I think the photo of the older possum in her story in 2006 was a stock photo as she was re-counting a story from her youth. So maybe the previously bound mouth on the possum wasn't done on her ranch?

I've been a big fan of hers since she started her blog and am pleased she's getting this attention...she's very straight forward and entertaining on so many levels :) She's obviously filling a niche that a whole lot of people enjoy. Kudos to her!

I liked her a lot but now, after reading Marilyn's post, I'm pretty sure I don't.

I have to admit I am not a fan of Pioneer Woman.

My main gripe is the way she promoted the wild horses on their Ranch. It wasn't until recently she did admit those horses belong to the BLM (a federal agency) and that the ranch receives big bucks for taking care of them. She made it seem as if the ranch was feeding them out of the goodness of their hearts when in fact not only are they paid well per horse per year they also receive tax credit and deductions for the hay they raise to feed them. This is not something a typical ranch has the opportunity to do and it rubs me the wrong way that millions think THIS is the typical life of a ranch wife. Her DIL Missy is the real rancher's wife. As far as Ree being a pioneer?....I can't think of anything nice to say so I won't....

Marilyn makes a good point about PW and not just the snakes and the possum. 'Contrived' is the word that comes to my mind to describe Ree Drummond. I do like some of her recipes and I learned lots about photoshop but any more her site leaves me cold so I don't read there anymore.
