I know this is not one of the colors you were thinking of but, I was looking at your space and the thought of a rust or brick color would look nice. It goes well with the gold in the kitchen and with the soft blue in your livin room. Maybe add a couple accent pieces of the brick color to living room. Just a thought.

I have to admit I was thinking something like that as well, a muted rust/salmon/terra cotta range, and not too dark. BTW, the new paint looks great--I love yellow kitchens!

Is there a color on the same strip as Honey Butter that would work, maybe a couple of shades lighter?

Thanks for your input! Guess what? I was originally thinking of a red. That was my first choice! However, I was wondering if it would look OK with the blue and was thinking I would have to change the paint and all of the furniture in the living room which we just cannot afford to do. So, it was suggested to me to try a brown which led to the samples in the dining room. So, you do think a red might work? What about the salmon, terra cotta - would that look OK with the red in the kitchen? I guess I'm trying to decide between a red and a brown.

Squirrelheaven, I was hoping you would respond to my post. Thanks for the pics! I like the tan and also the red. Do you have a preference? If I went with the red, do you think I could even keep the mauve chairs with accents like the red pillow? I like the neutral color below the chair rail. Thanks so much for helping me to get a realistic idea of how the different colors might look!

I like the red alot but not with the mauve chairs. Could you reupholster them in a creamy color? Do you have kiddos or pets? Maybe cream is too much of an upkeep but it would sure look great. ;c)

Love your kitchen color and redo. I think a red dr would be fabulous.

I vote for the same blue as pictured in the living room! I would put the blue above the chair rail -- and the fresh creamy white below.

Then use lots of blue-and-china items in both rooms!

Love the idea of a rasberry/red tone in the dining room. Also, love your kitchen cabinets. Could you tell me the brand of your cabinets and the name of your granite? I am beginning an remodel of my kitchen this spring and want cherry cabinets and granite countertops but there are so many choices, I am having such a hard time deciding! Please help.

Also, if anyone else has cherry cabinets with granite in your kitchens, please show me a picture (with brands/names of cabinets and counters). I have posted at the kitchen form but I get much more response from this form ( which is also my favorite). Thanks so much.

Before I read any other posts or saw the mockups, I was going to suggest BM Audubon Russet. I love that color, but after seeing the mockups, they all look good. I think I like the yellow upper wall, but doesn't look good with your mauve chairs in the LR--can you slip cover them in a pale yellow if you went with the yellow in the DR? Yellow pillows on the sofa and swap some of each color in each room (rugs/artwork)? Change out the handtowels and rugs in the kitchen with something blue, etc. My cousin has a beautiful kitchen done in all blue/yellow/white. Nice combos.

Thanks for sharing your ideas! The chest in the living room is a bachelor's chest from Crescent Furniture (http://www.cresent.com/). The cabinets in the kitchen are from Kabinart (http://www.kabinart.net/). They are not solid wood, but they did fit within our budget! The granite is Uba Tuba. It is my understanding that this type of granite it plentiful and, therefore, not as expensive as other choices.

wow.. my suggestion is so different from the others that I hesitated to share it.. but I think bad ideas sometimes help firm up a decision as well as good ones haha.. so I'll share.

I really like the top color you have on your wall with test colors. I am not sure how accurate the color is on my monitor but I really like it. I may be a tad conservative with color-- but red, blue, yellow walls is pretty much all over the color wheel in just three rooms. I am thinking that the more neutral dining room would bridge the blue and yellow.

To confuse you more, I really like the pale yellow dining rooms that squirrel did at the beginning of the thread.

This is not part of your original idea but after looking at the photos I would use a warm chocolate brown beneath the chairrail to compliment your kitchen cabinets and to offset the blue of the living room. Above the chairrail I would go with a lighter tan/beige tone. There are a lot of wonderful accessories available now that could tie in the blue and brown and those colors would compliment the kitchen.

I forgot to mention in my original post that an updated light fixture in the dining room could really tie the three areas together without spending a lot of money.

I'd tried on some blues, don't know why I didn't post them. Maybe that they didn't look as appetizing! or warm for family time. Of the blues, I'd pick the warmer darker one for a dr over the one that's lighter than the lr. Also gives some depth to the space. And then some beige and salmon colors (not working). As well as a cream.

Those are raspberries not reds : ) Picking up on the blue-red of your kitchen accessories and the pink of the chairs. For the darker one, I'd bring in just a touch of it in the lr, with a pillow or flowers or something. Just to connect a bit more. I wouldn't do a red with the pink : )

Definately paint the bottom of the dining room white. I like the slightly darker beige color the best. I might even suggest a darker golden brown color like SW Dromedary Camel or Sesame. The blue in the living room is nice, but adding the blue to the dining room was too much blue (for me).

My choice would be the deep raspberry, soft cream, or white. I love the dark raspberry, but wondering how much of the yellow of the kitchen is visible from the dr. It might also feel choppy to you when moving around between the rooms. Some people like each room a different color, though, so maybe you enjoy that.

When I mentioned white for the bottom, I wouldnt do superwhite, but a soft white. I like the raspberry.

I still like the red (raspberry) best but a very close second is that beautiful chocolate brown. Gee...wonder why I like that color? LOL!

I love reading all of your ideas, and I especially appreciate the virtuals. I like the raspberry, too, but am wondering if it will look ok with the reds I have in the kitchen. (I never realized how many different reds I have in the kitchen until I closely examined the pics I took!) Since we do not have an eat-in kitchen, we have all meals at this dining room table. I wonder how the bright fiestaware colors will look with the raspberry. Here is a view from our dining room wherein you can see both the kitchen and living room. Also, I have seen some pallettes in paint manufacturers pamphlets with blue, yellow, tan/brown, and cream. I'm wondering how that combination might work in these three rooms if I get rid of the mauve chairs. Thanks for your input!!!

I knew you were gonna make me buy some new prints :) The blue ones didn't change well. So, here's some raspberry on the walls, and no value change on the blue:

I think the chocolate milk looking color would be your best choice. It is neutral and doesn't fight with any of the colors and would allow you to bring the blue and red in from either room and make your Fiestaware show up.

I vote for a darker raspberry red, not so pink as the color you tried. I have Regal Red (a Dutch Boy Paint color mixed at HD)in my DR, and I love its richness. There is a little pink in my DR carpet, and it doesn't clash at all, so no need to recover the chairs.

FWIW blue, yellow and red is a triadic (primary)color scheme, consisting of colors equally spaced on the color wheel, if that helps you pinpoint the right shade. :)

Golden brown color for the top, soft white for the bottom. Old SW dromedary camel or sesame.

Well I'm going to be oddball here and say yellow. I would love to see yellow walls, white slipcovers on the chairs and some blue/white china. I think that would tie everything together. My other option is navy blue.

Well, I think I like the yellow the best as well. It looks so pretty from the living room looking into the dining room. I especially like it with white below the chair rail. It looks very classy.

Red is my favorite color but I don't really like it with the blue.

Regarding yellow, are you talking about the same yellow in the kitchen? I've tried using paint documents to make a yellow dining room with white on the bottom. The yellow is a little "off", but I intended for it to be similar to the kitchen. Also, the white is too white, probably. Do you think the yellow and white in the dining room is OK with the "dark" aspects of the kitchen?

I think the yellow and white would look nice. Don't forget you have the dark wood furniture to tie it into the kitchen. I like the yellow sample you have on the small wall under the light switch in the pic above. Is that the same yellow as the kitchen? It looks a little brighter. I would either go brighter or lighter. Check out the color strip and see if there another color on the strip that you like. If you do yellow, I would take some yellow accents into the LR.
