Unless it's at Disney World, I have no idea, either.

It was taken at Coral Castle, Homestead, Florida. It took me 40 years to make a trip there, but I finally made it.

That photo being only part of a much larger monument, a monument built by a 98-pound man, Ed Leedskalnin, with only the simplest of tools, no electicity, no running water, but with an uncanny knowledge of the laws of leverage and balance. He once stated that he knew the secrets of how the pyramids were built.

Some stones, that he moved alone, weighed in excess of 9 tons. To this day, no one knows how he built this monument, a monument built to the memory of the love of his life.

Very interesting. He must have had good knowledge of physics to move the stones. When did he do it? Wasn't anyone watching to report on how he did it?

Do you know what the rocks are made of? Did he carve them himself?

He would stop working when he sensed someone watching, and many tried to sneak a peek, but no one ever saw him work.

The stones are made of coral which he carved, moved, and stacked all by himself. I have many more pictures of the castle, in which he actually lived in.

He died in 1951 after a brief illness at the age of 64. The castle originally stood in another location but Ed moved it piece by piece to a more secluded sight. One large chunk of coral, which was loaded on the back of a flatbed truck, was unloaded overnight by Ed, after he instructed the driver to return the next morning and get his truck. No one knows how he did it.

The present sight is no longer secluded. I drove past it twice before even seeing it. With the encroaching city of Homestead, it is now located in the middle of town, whereas when I heard of it years ago, it was out in the middle of nowhere.

It took me 40 years to finally go see it, but it was worth the wait and the trip.
