They are all beautiful. Gavin bloomed short for me the first year in the garden but was normal last year. I have not seen my Born To Run or Violet Becomes You bloom yet and am anxious to see them now that I've seen your photos. Nancy

I am always skeptical of what is in wikipedia, especially when a claim like that is not followed by a citation. For all we know the only person claiming it to be native to both continents is the person who wrote the wikipedia entry. My best sources state that Draba verna was introduced from Eurasia. It probably has been here for a long time, as Aldo Leopold included a short section in his Sand County Almanac titled "Draba".

Hi Bev, Thanks for your question. I have quite a big patch of ordinary Cannas (see my next posting please) and planted my tropicals around the outside of them thinking that they would make a nice border. So far no flowers, yet the originals have been putting on quite a show all through Summer. Do you think that I might have done the wrong thing by planting them there ?.Any advice would be appreciated. Best wishes, Margaret.

My gardening friend neighbor, now in a nursing home, had some early blooming flowers. I think the earliest is crocus, followed by daffodils, then tulips. Some tulips are earlier than others.
