Deanna, Below are pictures taken over the summer of all three plants. I'll start with the one I've had the least success with. That is probably because I had it in too much shade. I found that I only took one picture in 2009 and one in 2010 of Restless Sea. That's unusual for me. This June I moved it into much more sun to get it to grow. It is in the most sun of the three plants. It is next to a cement driveway and our summers are usually very hot. That might be why it looks lighter in the July pictures. If you are short of room maybe you could grow it in a pot set in the garden above surrounding plants. This year I didn't take that many pictures of Restless Sea either. I used some pictures of it in the garden with other plants. It is between Lakeside Cha Cha (new this year) and On the Edge (also new this year). In the Sept. picture Lakeside Cha Cha had been moved and Summer Lovin is in it's place. I think the most similar are Neptune and Cutting Edge. Neptune has more definite waves and a stiffer leaf. The leaves are ultimately suppose to be a similar size. My Neptune seemed to change to a dark, steely grey blue as the summer wore on. It was very nice and I'm looking forward to seeing it this year. It is next to Maya Swingtime in the pictures. Cutting Edge is wonderful. It has less ripling than Neptune and a floppier leaf that shows the underside white. It probably isn't as blue and doesn't get as dark as Neptune. I grow it in the least direct sun of the three although it does get some direct morning sun. I can look at it from the top down from the driveway, looking over the garden wall (first picture of my previous ones of Cutting Edge above). I also look at it from the side (second previous picture above) from inside the courtyard because it is in a spot that is raised up a foot or two at the edge of the courtyard. This might be a candidate for an urn or something too. My favorite of the three would be Cutting Edge but that could be because I've had it longest. I did look back and found that unlike Restless Sea I took many, many pictures of Cutting Edge right from the begining.

I overwinter my palms with X mas lights followed by a frost cloth and then a plastic garbage bin. The lights provide warmth and the frost cloth keeps the warmth in. The plastic garbage bin protects the palms from moisture and also protects them from wind and keeps more heat in. The protection takes only 5 minutes to put on and can easily be taken off on warm days. For me, it kept the palms about 17F to 23F warmer than the outside temperature which is cool enough to keep it from overheating, but more than warm enough to keep them from being too cold. I put the protection on below 25F and also put it on on cold days. I start to put the plastic garbage bin over it around this time of the year, but only when it rains. This keeps them dry for the winter. Good luck! Also since it sounds like your palms are still small, you dont have to use a garbage bin, you can just use an empty plastic pot, or large plastic container. -Alex

I get regular email newsletters from our local PBS station but didn't see this in the programming. I probably would have watched - I still watch KUA from time to time but have become a bit bored with it. All the episodes are pretty similar and have become very predictable. Although I still laugh every time Hyacinth falls into the hedge as she walks by the barking dog in the broken down car at Onslo and Daisy's place!! As much as I love PBS - it is the network I watch most often - I do get terribly frustrated with their constant begging. It's like 2 weeks of regular programming and then a month or more of fundraising. And the shows they play during their fundraising periods are not at all to my liking either and they insist on repeating them day after day or night after night. Enough already!!
