I have done that several time. I called and was always satisfied with the results. Most recently with Target. I bought an item that made me break out in a rash. They thanked me for calling, said if enough people call in about the same product the will not continue to sell it. They also gave me coupons worth almost twice what I paid for the product.

I bought a Dacor double wall oven and it would get excessive condensation between the glass on the door when I cooked something that gave off moisture (roasting a chicken, pot roast). I called and they replaced the glass on the door but it didn't help at all. When I called back they astounded me with their offer - they would buy back my 11 month old oven for my full purchase price ...or....replace it with their brand new model which was over a thousand dollars more expensive than the one I bought. Apparently a few of their ovens had this problem and they decided to just replace it.

I took the new model even though it meant having a cabinet maker alter my cabinets. I only have good things to day about Dacor.

I found a small piece of thin plastic in sort of a seashell shape, but with a couple of sort of sharp ends, which hadn't caused me discomfort.

When I took the (rather large) sized box back to the Loblaw grocery store, they wrote up a report and submitted it, headquarters called me and they sent me a $5.00 cash card.

ole joyfuelled ... with a few corn flakes thrown in, occasionally, now that spring is (almost) here.

I order online from KV VET my dog shampoo, chew bones, and toys. Prices are really much less than in pet stores or even Target or Wal-mart. If you order $50, there is no shipping charge and since I order in quantity, that isn't a probelm. Even if I only need a few things, my neighbor will go in with me to get to $50.

Anyway, I placed an order last Monday night, got a notice that it was shipped on Tues. and it arrived here Thurs. through normal mail. I have been ordering from them for over 4 years now and have never had a problem. Good company, good service, and good prices!

My Xmas order from Macy's got lost and never came on time. I waited yet called many times, never showed anger. Finally spoke to a manager and told her I solved the problem myself. I called the shipper who told me the address and one number was off. When I told the manager she sent me a gift card for 50.00 as they would have returned my money yet I told them the truth. It was four houses away from us for 3 weeks and the people had gone to Fla. I found it on the porch. So good for Macy's.

Well my shaft broke on my Black and Decker breadmaker this week. It's just over a year old, so the store won't honour the warranty (they have a 1-year warranty).
I vowed to not buy another B&D product again.....this is the 3rd breadmaker to go kaput on me; all B&D, but different models.
The others have failed while under warranty, and I waited till a breadmaker came on sale, which they do regularly, and exchanged it.

I wrote to B&D parts department and they wrote back saying I had to buy a bread bucket. I called and was talking to the fellow, and he asked how old it was, and I said about 1 yr and 3 months, but that I didn't keep the receipt as I couldn't return it to the store.

He's sending me a new bucket, free of charge. I was very pleasantly surprised!!!!

So I'll keep going with the B&D, but I promise that if it breaks down again, I'm saving my money and buying a Zo.

I have to give Aldi some credit. A month or two ago we had a major snowstorm moving into the area. Not that I really *needed* anything since I keep some groceries around but nevertheless I decided to go pick up a few things and then I'd just ride out the storm at home until I was dug out, the accidents over with and things back to "normal", whatever that is. They open at 10 on Sunday. I timed it to arrive at opening and I got there a couple minutes before and there were 15-20 cars in the lot! I knew they don't have that many employees and there were people coming out of the store. Went in and talked to the cashier and she said the the honchos had called and asked if some people could come in and open early because of the storm! I've never heard of anything like that before. Many placed *closed* early because of the weather but I've never seen anyone *open* early because of the weather! I hope the employees got to go home early that day. It was quite a storm too. And for the store, I'm sure they had a lot of sales in that 30-60 extra minutes.

And one other, kudos to Target. There's really several examples but this time warrants special recognition: I stopped at a Target I don't usually patronize since it's a long way from home but I was returning from an out-of-town trip, they had sale on cat litter (and a few other things) and I was going right by this one so it'd be an easy stop. To top it off, I had a gift card or two to use too. I used one of the electric shopping carts since mobility is getting worse and worse. Got my stuff and checked out and while paying the cashier waved for someone to come over and this young gal said she'd help me with the stuff. I was a bit embarrassed, said oh I can handle this, I'll just put it in a cart and I'll take that out to the car but both of them insisted no, I was to use the cart to go out to my vehicle and she'd come out and bring it back in. She kept saying "It's a nice day and gives me a chance to go outside on company time!" And when we got to the van she insisted on loading it for me, refused a tip and bid me a pleasant day, saying "Goodie, they don't let us drive these very often!" Once the astonishment wore off, all I can say was it made my day. Bravo to the employees especially, but cheers also to a company that keeps their employees happy enough to want to do that and I seem to see that a lot in Target stores, especially compared to a couple other discount department stores who shall remain nameless. I'm really proud to have Target headquartered in my part of the country.

And BTW, Target has really gained respect from me. I used to shop there regularly but then they got to be a bit too "yuppie uppity" in my book. Their prices weren't great and I just didn't like the stores. Over the past 5-6 years I've gone back in there and am a convert again. Dramatic change for the better. Plus now Targets are all getting larger grocery departments and giving the local big shots some competition. Competition can be very good. They're doing something right too because the last two price comparisons done by TV stations put Target far and above over the store with the big "W" in their name who has a reputation. (Like I said, I won't name names!) That was a surprise until I went and saw some of their pricing.

Good to know about Target, Cynic. They are coming here next year, I think it is.

Gotta love Target, my favorite store.
