It seems like ages since I've TGIF'd...happy weekend, all! I knew our early spring was too good to be true...it's snowing like crazy right now. Hopefully it'll clear out before the community Easter egg hunt tomorrow. I just finished glazing a pineapple carrot cake to be auctioned off at our Chamber of Commerce's spud bar fundraiser dinner. We'll head in shortly to help set up for it. Tomorrow is work and it's book sale day, so I won't get much else done. That carrot cake smelled so good I think I'll bake another one for our Easter dessert. The kid is coming up on Sunday, apparently she is mired in tax forms and boyfriend-less this weekend. DH has been taking out some dead trees, if the snow melts we'll burn brush. We'll have a ham ...sides will depend on my mood on Sunday. Maybe some asparagus if it looks decent. Maybe a fruit salad, some rolls. If there are leftovers tonight I can make a donation for potatoes, green onions, sour cream and shredded cheese...almost everything we need for our favorite potato casserole. Happy Easter and Happy Spring, everyone! ~clink~

You're a busy group with all your springtime activities. Right now I am waiting for the contractor, to talk about the new bathroom. The planning has been going on for a year now. He's promising to start in June. Goodbye money. Later is a trip to the salon. Tomorrow is the usual cleaning and gardening. Love one and hate the other. Sunday is the Cocktail Party for my local library. It is always the best party of the year, held in some fabulous private home. I bought a new outfit and shoes. Today after the haircut, I have to stop to buy a few things for finishing touches. I can use these clothes for a wedding in July, too. Had a pedicure yesterday (I don't like the color I chose -- OPI Chihuahua Bites. It's too orange.) No manicure because I would just destroy it in the yard. Happy Weekend everyone!

Jessica, start now with the chocolate, it'll help and it has to be tested, right? Happy Birthday to #1 Son and a blessed Bar Mitzvah to #2 son. Aren't you glad you didn't have 8 or 9 boys? (grin) Nancy, I'll be seeing you soon, no snow this year, OK? Linda, you're still taping drywall. Ugh. Have a little wine and that last hurrah, you betcha! maryanne, hug that grandbaby at least once for me. They are so much more fun that having your own children, I love mine. Even Bud, the terror. Mimsic, take that trip to Queens and enjoy your very busy weekend. Stacie, my niece is having a baby shower too. this afternoon at 2, so I can't go, I'll still be at work. I hope Rhiannon feels better soon. Sally, I agree, October is my favorite month. As Empress of the Universe, I['m considering that we should have more October and less winter. GardenLad used to tell lme two Octobers and no February, I think that's a good idea! It's nearly 80 here, though, it's just not right. I was hoping the salmon would be running, and I'd be fishing, but it's too warm. Maybe next week. So, I'll be spending the weekend at Elery's and since I have Monday off, I'll go to the farm then. Amanda has some grapevines that have a lot of grapes still on them, and Makayla wants to make jelly! Annie

oh jessica--i remember some of the photos from 2 years ago, which included so many of our forum friends! it looked like a fantastic time and you were GORGEOUS--you really do clean up well :) hope things go as well this time around! i hope you have someone around who can be depended on to talke lots of pics, annie--tomorrow has the potential to be a real blast and i'd love to see every bit of it! terri--a friend of mine thought she had an unusal hummer in her yard in alabama and after taking a few shots of it, sent them to a recognized birder. he travelled to her home and positively ID'd it as a calliope or a rufous--she'll kill me for not remembering which! the following year he came back and was able to band "noel" and release her again. in any case, it was only the 14th ever recorded in her state and you better believe she spent many, many hours making simple syrup and swapping out feeders for those times when the temps got below freezing. if you haven't been to the attached forum yet, you'll be able to get LOTS of help there! we spent an awful lot of the last 2 weekends cleaning up the boat--always a very sad task as far as we are concerned, not to mention alot of work! i'm ready to just hunker down for the next few months but it would seem that the leaves are just about done falling and SOMEONE thinks we should be scooping them up. hmm. well it's either that or paint the kitchen and i'm not sure which will win. i'm still hoping for hunkering down but we'll see. a special toast to some forum friends that i had hopes to spend the weekend with! i'm really, really sorry it couldn't happen but hope they are all having a ball and we'll hear from them soon--clink! The Perfect Bloody Mary for me:

1 Jigger of Vodka
1 Lime Wedge
2 Dashes of Tabasco
2 Dashes of Sriracha (Asian Hot Sauce)
1 Dash of Celery Seed
1 Stalk of Celery
8 oz. of Clamato Juice

Add the Clamato First. Then all the spices. Add the Vodka last so it washes the Hot Sauce off of the top ice cubes. Stir Well. Sip Slowly.

Crackers and Salmon Spread on the side.

Hmmm. The best ever.

MMMMmmmmmmmm. I used to drink those in my younger days. Saved the lemon slices in the glass and just kept on adding.
Made a nice one for ya Gayle, just as ordered. I'm just popping back in the kitchen to put out the salmon spread and cracker assortment. Great idea!

Hey Mcpeg, pass the ribs please!

Did anyone invite the SHERIFF?

Hey, MrsMarv -- we were at the Clos du Bois winery this past weekend -- it was the 30th annual Barrel Tasting along the Russian River Wine Road. Along with their barrel tasting, they were serving (free, of course) chili cheese hot dogs, and chocolate truffles.

I feel like a gin & tonic (that's what I had last night, actually). A lemon drop martini or Bloody Mary might suit me too.
