good morning and happy friday. this is my first time posting to the friday thread, although at times i do read them!

jessy, sounds like you will have a jammed-packed, non-stop weekend. and best of luck in prep for your son. i keep saying i am going to get a chocolate fountain -- maybe i need to wait and see it's other uses LOL

i'm in heaven...i've had the g-babe for the last few days and wouldn't mind keeping her (the entire weekend), but i'm sure the parents will eventually want her back. she has such a super personality - is walking (more like running) everywhere - has totally claimed my house as all her territory and is talking up a storm, although who knows what language it is.

i recently made contact with a long lost friend, so sometime over the weekend we will share a meal and some quality time together. i also have a bil that will be moving to california soon (who i will miss dearly), so will be spending a little time with him as well.

the weather is summer-like, the phillies lost two so far (boo hoo), but other than that - life is great!

Jessy, keep the alcohol close:) Sounds like a busy few weeks.

Maryanne, it is wonderful for grandparents to spend time with the grandbabies. I know, I sent Rhiannon and Peyton to my folks for the weekend. We kept Hayden with us, and here I am up at 5 when I could sleep in.

We have a baby shower for my sil tonight. She's the one who thinks I stole the name Hayden from. Funny thing she has decided to name the little one Aiden. So that will be Rhiannon, Creighton, Peyton, Hayden, Aiden and Jack for my parent's grandkids. It will be quite a mouthful.

Tomorrow is the Harvest of Harmony parade, the biggest parade in Nebraska, may go and watch or will catch it on tv. Hope to get some more baby food in the freezer for Hayden this winter, and get the house cleaned up. Things went to pot when Rhiannon was sick this week. The rash has cleared up some but still has some areas that are red. Will be giving her Claratin for 2 months now. This little girl has only had one ear infection and she is over 4 years old so have been lucky with her, Peyton is over 2 and hasn't had an ear infection or been on antibiotics. Here's hoping that Hayden will be the same way.

So I will clink with my Pepsi this morning.

Stacie, have fun at the shower. I can't even imagine trying to keep the house clean with three young ones. I'm sure you have to make every minute count.

I'll find something to *clink* with tonight. I am working this afternoon and then again tomorrow. We've had summer weather and there's many tourists still around. Not much color on the tree's though, just a branch here and there. I'm going to try and do some yard work and visit my favorite farm market on Sunday. Next week gets busy...

Next weekend is the big Apple Festival, so I'll be working and buying my apples too. It's about apples and crafts and brings tons of people. It's as busy at the store as July 4th weekend. I try to do some Christmas shopping at the craft show.
Thursday, I have special guests coming for dinner....yes I'll take pic's.

No car this next week, one's being repaired from the deer incident...geeez, I hate the feeling of being stuck with no wheels..... I'm not within walking distance of anything.

We are at the end of an overwhelmingly busy holiday season - guests in the Succah Wed dinner, Thurs lunch & dinner, Fri guests at someone else's succah, Sat afternoon 1st stop on the Shul 'Succah Hop'and evening event at Shul, Sun lunch and late evening wine & cheese, Mon dinner, Tues dinner, Wed, as guests at someone else's succah and finally Thursday in the Synagogue for big, loud, raucous (sp?) celebration called Simchat Torah. It is the celebration of finishing reading the last portion of the Torah (and immediately starting all over again with The Beginning!). Tonight we will be guests at a friend's for Shabbat Dinner and I don't have to bring a thing! I am not working today and we have a borrowed car (living in Brooklyn means not having to own a car) so we just might take a little day trip to the Jamaica Bay Wild Life Preserve in Queens to take advantage of the summer-like weather. Hi, all. It looks like everyone's so busy, and also everyone's having summer weather. DH and I went walking/jogging this morning, and I was wondering if it wasn't really July instead of October. I said to DH that October is supposed to be the nicest month of the year, what's happened to it?!

Nancy, I think an apple festival would be so much fun. I love apples, and would love being/living somewhere that apples grew.

This weekend will be the calm before the storm, or maybe the storm of cleaning before the storm. My DIL and grandson will be arriving for an extended stay with her folks next Friday. My son will be off doing Military duty, (not in a war zone, though) so we all thought it best for her and the little one to come home for that time. So, we'll be doing what we can to get our house baby ready real fast. Although they won't be staying with us, they'll be visiting us frequently, I hope.

I don't have any special cooking planned, but I never know what my DS is going to come up with. They're studying soups at culinary school right now, and he's been practicing at home. Lucky me! I just wish it would cool off. 93 degrees for a high in October just ain't right.

Good morning, all! Another thunderstorm rolled in overnight so it will be dreary here all day, after two days of blissful weather! Of course, it is my day off!

Sounds like we all have busy weekends ahead, altho I can't keep up with Jessy! LOL

Today will be spent taking care of errands, run to the bank, buy bird seed, finalize my soup party menu, cleaning, etc.

Weekend plans include finishing the drywall ant taping in the basement and putting that all back together, putting the perennial and herb beds to bed for the winter, getting the house ready to be re-stained.

I think we are supposed to have an 80 degree day tomorrow, and that will be the last hurrah for this summer. Temps should fall from here on....

I'm kind of happy about the hot weather in Maine. I've got lots of peppers and eggplants in the garden and I usually only get a few. I'll be canning salsa this weekend, and making eggplant parmesan. Oh, the crazy hedonism of weekends!

Jessica, start now with the chocolate, it'll help and it has to be tested, right?

Happy Birthday to #1 Son and a blessed Bar Mitzvah to #2 son. Aren't you glad you didn't have 8 or 9 boys? (grin)

Sally, I agree, October is my favorite month. As Empress of the Universe, I['m considering that we should have more October and less winter. GardenLad used to tell lme two Octobers and no February, I think that's a good idea!

It's nearly 80 here, though, it's just not right. I was hoping the salmon would be running, and I'd be fishing, but it's too warm. Maybe next week. So, I'll be spending the weekend at Elery's and since I have Monday off, I'll go to the farm then. Amanda has some grapevines that have a lot of grapes still on them, and Makayla wants to make jelly!

Daria, I too am making salsa this weekend, but it is freezer salsa.

It is our Thanksgiving, so we get a long weekend, hurray! We are having company for a not so thanksgivingish meal on Saturday. Hoping to BBQ so it better be nice! Then will do either a huge chicken or a turkey breast for a more appropriate Thanksgiving dinner.

Will be clinking to all at 5pm!

Wow..okay everyone SLOW DOWN...I'm dizzy just reading everyones weekend plans!!!

I'm headed to Bellingham to stake out the new Trader Joes. My mom is in town for a week, she showed up Wed night. So we'll spend some mother daughter time..and SHOP! LOL
I spent a few hours in the ER with son#2 lastnight..I was right...He has a pulled or strained chest (sternum area)..But he freaked out yesterday because he couldn't catch his breath (or felt like he couldn't) and then my husband (football coach) freaked because he was freaked...so off to the ER....
All is well...

Saturday is a football game, Saturday night the little ones will have an event that I'll send Grandma as escort... Sunday I'm preparing a lovely meal..with some guests over, and Sunday afternoon #3 has a birthday party to attend at the Bowling Alley...

I'll clink with some tea later..

I have almost a four day weekend...just a half day at work tomorrow. Today I'm canning salsa and Asian plum sauce and cleaning out closets and bathrooms. Sunday and Monday I'll have some apples to sauce and more fall cleaning. Windows if I can con DH into helping me, and I need to clean out the garden and plant my garlic... I love my days 'off', hehe.

Tonight I will be clinking with the bottle of champagne we found in the pantry (from the car dealer when I turned in my leased car and bought another). I just had my last of many appointments...teeth, eyes, mammos, colonoscopy, and my one-year checkup with the oncologist. Here's to a clean bill of health...yippee! ~clink~

4 day weekend for me. All sports, all the time. Starting with the Red Sox tonight. Heading down to Connecticut for a cross country meet tomorrow, Patriots Sunday and another meet on Tuesday. Makes the kids happy; makes me happy.
