TGIF to you too, Alexa!

At exactly 2pm, Spring Break began for my daughter. YAY! I don't have wake the Grump up for an entire week!!! LOL

Our FridayFest (always on the first Friday night of the month) is tonight. Our entire downtown is shut off to traffic, all the stores stay open late, and vendors set up all along the street. It's the only time you can actually legally wander down the middle of the main drag in town drinking a beer! Me, Mom, and Erin (my daughter) will go early to eat at our favorite little Mexican joint and then walk up and down and peruse the sights.

As for Easter - we have plans to see the Passion Play at our local Civic Center tomorrow evening. Sunday is the big annual family dinner, which I will be cooking. And sometime in all of this, we have to color eggs and I have to fix Erin's Easter basket - parts of which are hidden all over the house. Guess I'll have to get up at 2am to do it.

Gorgeous Day today , we spent it doing yard work and like, Alexa, I have the aches to prove it!

Tomorrow more yard work, Sunday the whole famn damily is here for dinner.

Suppose to be gorgeous all weekend so I see some patio time in the cards along the way.

This morning I had a Pilates session. Although it's a holiday here the gym was open and as we are a friendly group, none of us wanting to miss a session, we agreed to all turn up today.
After one of the women passed around little gold foil-wrapped chocolate bunnies, we had a good workout (lots of situps and ab training) and then coffee together afterward on the terrace.

No special events planned for at home other than some time working in the garden and sitting watching the

The Easter processions of Sevilla are world famous. There will also be processions here on the island but I don't think we'll be going out.

Dinner tonight was takeout pizza. My kitchen looks like an invading army came through and pillaged. That's what comes from being sick for two days, Wed. and Thurs. I spent all morning at a local afterschool center planting seeds, both inside for later, and directly in the garden. The kids were crazy wild with the nice weather. The outside garden got all planted, (barely, the worms freaked everybody out, lol!) but we didn't manage to get the rows marked with what they are. They are marked as rows, but it will be a mystery garden! Radishes, lettuce and peas, so basically they can pull it all up and make a salad!

I took home some extra little pots on trays to put in my back bedroom to start. But they didn't hold up well to driving around in my car, I now have a mess of seeds and dirt in the back seat. So this weekend will be sorting that out, planting more seeds, and garden, garden, garden. But I have to work too, all weekend, so who knows how much I will get done. First, I have to reclaim my kitchen!

Beautiful weather here too. Two weekends ago we were buried in heavy wet snow. Thankfully the trees waited until this week to bud out and bloom.

My famn damily is spread out this year for Easter. No big dinner planned here so far. I did call a few friends to see if they wanted to come over for dinner...also one of my sisters who stayed here to hold the fort down so to speak. The ham is still in the freezer as of now. I'll be in the yard tomorrow and opening the pool...I'm sure I'll be feeling the aches by Sunday. LOL

It seems like ages since I've TGIF'd...happy weekend, all!

I knew our early spring was too good to be true...it's snowing like crazy right now. Hopefully it'll clear out before the community Easter egg hunt tomorrow.

I just finished glazing a pineapple carrot cake to be auctioned off at our Chamber of Commerce's spud bar fundraiser dinner. We'll head in shortly to help set up for it.

Tomorrow is work and it's book sale day, so I won't get much else done. That carrot cake smelled so good I think I'll bake another one for our Easter dessert.

The kid is coming up on Sunday, apparently she is mired in tax forms and boyfriend-less this weekend. DH has been taking out some dead trees, if the snow melts we'll burn brush. We'll have a ham ...sides will depend on my mood on Sunday. Maybe some asparagus if it looks decent. Maybe a fruit salad, some rolls. If there are leftovers tonight I can make a donation for potatoes, green onions, sour cream and shredded cheese...almost everything we need for our favorite potato casserole.

I got a jump on some others, I was working outside all day today, it was a holiday from work. It's harder work fixing fence all alone, without Elery to help, but I finally got it put together enough that I let the horses and cows out into the big pasture so my sister doesn't have to fill the water tank. I'm getting about 7 or 8 eggs a day, so it's for sure spring, and it was over 80 today, right now it's still 79F here in Northern Michigan. It's supposed to rain tomorrow, good thing, we've not had a drop in weeks, since the spring floods, and we are on "high alert" for fire danger.

Tomorrow I'll bake rolls, make the tiramisu and ice cream, make the cupcakes for the kids for Sunday. I have a zillion little plastic easter eggs that need to be filled too, so I can hide them.

Sunday is Easter dinner after church, along with egg hunting for the grandkids. Ashley has to work, so does Elery, so it's just going to be five or six of us.

Seems like everyone is busy this Easter weekend. I am not doing anything "big", just busy working with little man on his math this morning, then we went outside to play ball most afternoon. Now I am making a grilled salmon salad and hot cross buns for dinner.

Everyone sounds so very busy preparing for family dinners.
I'm sure you will enjoy all the family gatherings once the work is done. Wish I had some hot cross buns though. Maybe I'll make some just to surprise Wolf!

Deanna those processions are held all over Spain but the biggest and most extravagant ....as in those photos...are held in the city of Seville (Sevilla) where the religious statues are carried on heavy mountings on the shoulders of men....called costaleros... who are underneath, bearing the weight of the whole platforms, some weighing as much as 5,500 lbs. Yes those are very old carved wooden statues, not real people. Some hundreds of years old, so they are relics, much adored by local people.

I have everything that can be done a head of time done for Easter dinner. There will only be 16 this year. We managed to score Final Four tickets for the Butler game tomorrow evening, so we will be in Indy for that. We are only an hour north of Indy. Go Butler!!!!

Happy Easter everybody. It's turning out to be a picture perfect week-end here. Our families are enjoying a relaxing time together. Relaxing except for Aunt Theresa who, by long tradition prepare the entire feast.
