Michael Vick's Atlanta Home

Vick's lakefront home went on the auction block yesterday with a $3.2 million minimum starting bid. It didn't sell. It comes fully furnished. So I figured I'd post the link for anyone who wants to see how the truly self-indulgent live.

He had the requisite home theater, sauna, second kitchen, enormous grand foyer with double swooping staircases as well as an indoor golf simulator, custom #7 rug, etc. They did remove his trophies and personal things.

I would ask some questions before getting to far along I see this post started back a bit but... is this a open area or is it shaded by the house, tree, etc? Corn is wild pollinated so it would be better (critical mass) to have a larger area with several rows or be less organized and do a honey comb pattern and as the corn gets say 3 1/2 feet high plant acorn squash or vine beans with them as the corn is harvested you get the beans climbing the corn for support. That is alot of summer squash for two unless thats zuchinni and summer(yellow) squash. Placement of plants is tricky cause you want to rotate placement next year and you don't want to shade short plants with tall plants. Raised beds you dont have to leave walk room but you will in a traditional garden that said if your renting you wouldn't want the expense of putting in raised beds... we have 400 sq feet of raised beds which provides for two with some for storage. I am planning on increasing that size next year as my kids get older and eat more. I would venture that this would equal about 600 sq feet if you had to leave walk ways. I do use poles for beans and trellis for cucumbers, peas, watermelon, and pumpkin. I would also add watch what you can double crop potatoes and peas will be done in time for you to put in pumpkin and late beans this will cut down on space you need. Carrots planted next to tomatoes can also be pulled for young tender carrots before the tomatoes tower over them might also want to look at planting borage and marigolds they help with pests and encourage pollinators to visit. One last bit of advice no matter how many years you do this you will always be new to it set aside a small area to try something new every year purple carrots, artichoke, peanuts, white pumpkin, asian greens, or funky color beans you will learn maybe find a new favorite vegi but more than likly you will just visit the garden more often and take better care of everything. For Massoud, try Classic Furniture in East Cobb. It is in a shopping center on Johnson Ferry Rd. at Woodlawn. It is locally owned and run by a brother and sister team. They generally discount 40% and sometimes have better deals. They sell both Massoud lines in that one is higher end. Cannot remember the name. They also sell Key City which is a good line IF you get the right cushion option. Their standard cushions are not high density. It is rather odd since the coil springs are 10 way hand tied you think they would go ahead and spec high density. They have all the usual cushion options. Two other sources for Massoud are Treaures for Your Home on Lower Roswell Rd immediately north of the South 120 Loop. Also, in Dalton, off I-75, Carpets of Dalton has a very nice furniture showroom. You will likely see more name brand mid to high end furntiure on the floor there than anywhere in Atlanta. They don't offer steep discounts, generally 30-35%, but you can negotiate. Also, in the back of the store, in the warehouse, they had a Southern Living home built. I think the plan is called Whitfield. It is completely furnsihed and decorated and is impressive. Great decorating ideas. I like Jetton, but there was a recent complaint about tailoring as I recall.

Personally I think Michael Vick is a sociopath, and I live in Eagles country but am not a football fan. If a person can do what he did to living breathing animals, he deserves a way long time behind bars. . I'm sorry but I don't trust pit bulls either. I was surprised to read about Corgi's (Queens dogs) and collies being banned in Italy. That said I have a temperamental Dachshund who needs supervision. He adores cats, loves the dog he lives with, loves kids and people, but has issues with big dogs. It's in the breed but he came from iffy circumstances. Turned into a kill shelter because they had too many dogs. So he has issues, but I watch him carefully. It's the Napoleon complex plus his history. I try to socialize him all the time.

The bed in one of the pictures looks to be a match to the one ilovetn posted about getting for $100 at a garage sale the other day! Well, we all knew she did great on that buy!

Cattail, I saw that too! He must have had an interior decorator. There is no way that man has that good of taste. I'm sure he picked the lion's heads, though.

Everyone is so nice --so I will make a remark. I hope every stray dog in Duluth has went by & hiked it's leg. LOL.. Lovely home--agree that is not his decorating.

Debbimc, I wholeheartedly agree. Pitbulls are not bad dogs. Rottweillers are not bad dogs. It's despicable people who turn them into killing machines. I know it's not nice to wish ill will on others, but boy am I glad he's in bankruptcy court now.

Whoever does buy this house will be getting a bargain even with having to rip out the 7 carpet. Someone posted a link over in kitchens to a bunch of homes in CT priced between $3 and $9 million. While most are very nice there is one that's marked sold at a list price of $3.6 million with an absolutely hideous kitchen. Are y'all aware that some of the Vick dogs were found loving homes after they were rehabilitated at Best Friends Sanctuary in Utah? Only a small percentage were deemed unfit for adoption by the court and there are still others who are in training to reprogram them after suffering at the hands of that monster. If you want to read about the wonderful story of how their lives were saved, go to Best Friends and take a look.

Brutuses, I added the National Geographic Channel to my cable line-up to just see the Dog Town episode about how Best Friends rahibilited Michael Vick's PitBulls to give them a second change. It had me in tears and hoping that the ones that were able to have homes found are still doing well despite their horrific background due to that Monster (Mr. Vick).

I'm surprised that the landscaping was so barren and drab.

I did hear that the majority of the dogs were found good homes, and for that I am grateful!
