I've watched Ceasar on pit bulls.
His Big Daddy is such a love, as he presents him, but I still have my doubts.

Big Daddy died several months ago. Years ago it was the dobermans everyone were afraid of. Remember all the movies with vicious dobermans? Pit Bulls can be killers, but you can't judge every dog by its breed. Junior has taken over Daddy's spot as Cesar's right hand dog.

I admit I know nothing about football. But I was surprised at all the accolades Vick received upon his return to the sport. Either he saw the light and truly turned his life around, or football fans are a remarkably forgiving bunch.

When I was a kid it was German Shepard's that everyone was afraid of.

It's how these dogs have been raised by the owners that makes them or breaks them

What about rehabiltating those who watch the dogs fighting?if there was no market for the figths they would close down.In other words it takes two to tango.

Italy and some other European countries consider Corgis and Collies dangerous! Italy has put lots of new requirements on owners of those dogs (plus over 90 other breeds).. you can't even own one if you have children in the house and you must muzzle them in public. I wonder what happened to the dogs in all the households that have children? Were they all euthanized? Our Kobi was part Corgi and he was a sweetie.

Did you hear Vick was wanting to get a dog for a pet now?

Corgis?? That's what Queen Elizabeth has, no? I guess that means no state visits to Italy. :-)

A friend of mine has one of the large breeds that Italy has banned. I forget the name....it's one I'd never heard of. The dog is huge, but totally sweet.

I think every breed has its problems. And yes most dogs do have off days and yes when you get several dogs together it can cause problems, regardless of breeds.

I personally would not own a pit bull or any dog that has been taught to fight, IMHO, the dog that has been taught to fight is going to have a problem. I mean like DUH.. look at rescue dogs, they have issues that include abandonment, starvation, abuse, shyness and people issues.

I have never had dangerous dogs, and I have had several german shepards in my life. Course everyone says that right? All I have had in my life are barking pigs, or at least that is what my husband has called my furry friends.

A pit bull attacked my lil' Sweetie (Yorkie). We got her to the vet and she was in shock..he operated as soon as he could and she did live..BUT that changed my feeling about pit bulls. A couple that lived next door to me had three children and a pit bull, he seems to be wonderful with the family until the dad backed the dog into a corner one day and ended up in the hospital from the attack. The dog was PTS.

Personally I think Michael Vick is a sociopath, and I live in Eagles country but am not a football fan. If a person can do what he did to living breathing animals, he deserves a way long time behind bars. . I'm sorry but I don't trust pit bulls either. I was surprised to read about Corgi's (Queens dogs) and collies being banned in Italy. That said I have a temperamental Dachshund who needs supervision. He adores cats, loves the dog he lives with, loves kids and people, but has issues with big dogs. It's in the breed but he came from iffy circumstances. Turned into a kill shelter because they had too many dogs. So he has issues, but I watch him carefully. It's the Napoleon complex plus his history. I try to socialize him all the time.

My aunt and uncle had a chow. I was so scared of that dog. Remember they kept him on a leash whenever they had company. I was youg then, but I still don't care for chows.

My mom just finished reading the book at rehabilitating the dogs Vick's fought. I won't be able to read it. It is so heartbreaking. Whether you like pits or not, no dog deserves the treatment that these dogs received. I hope that they can be rehabilitated and homes found for the ones that survived.
