Have you ever had a full blood panel done on your dog? Sometimes things will show up that aren't outwardly apparent. At 8 years, your dog is considered a senior. Like people, dogs can develop things simply because they are older.
Another thought is that while you have not changed your dog's food, it is entirely possible that the manufacturer has changed ingredients. Perhaps trying a corn and wheat free food would be a start. Wellness Super Mix 5 is available at Petco and Petsmart, and might be worth a shot.

Thanks for the information on food. I buy an expensive brand through the vet because she is on a weight loss diet. She has been on it over a year and never had any problems till now. I hadn't thought about the company changing the ingredients. I guess I will ask the vet.

aptosca, smelly wouldn't suddenly happen if you haven't changed food. Did you give your dog a rawhide bone?

Rawhide farts are nasty, smelly things.

Iams does animal testing, and has grains in it, for a carnivore it is NOT ideal!

Most Vets are in co-hoots with maga food companeys that care more about profit then animal heath/safety/human safety. so unless your animal is suffering from a condiction that MUST be fed, like your poor dog is, its not a good idea to trust them- unless your vet is holistic

Gammy T, why do you think Iam's is a good food? Have you looked at the ingredients:-) Yes, it's a tiny bit better than any grocery store food, but full of corn, by products, grain, not a high quality kibble.

Aptosca, what food is your dog eating? Agree that the ingredients in her kibble may have changed, but there may be something else going on with her. There are many 'vet brands' that aren't complete nutrition and should be only used for a few months. A stool sample would be a good idea to rule out parasites.

Since she is getting older, her body may be changing with age. However since she is a hound, I would really watch her when she's outside. Those little hound noses are always looking for something to eat. She may have found grass, dirt, etc. out in the yard that she's been nibbling on. Possibly a cat has been visiting your yard. Or a squirrel burying peanuts.

My pooch is a herding dog, so she isn't ruled by her nose. But the little doxie that I babysit, when her daddy is on vacation, spends her first day scoping out my house and yard. I really have to be diligent to make sure she doesn't eat something or do a "head slide" thru something she finds in the yard. She's nine pounds of dog!

i hope your dog gets better and gets on a better food I may sound "dumb' OR "idiotic" to some, but the pointn is, we had a massive recall a few years back, unless things start changing ( and they are) humans will be the next possible victims, i'm sure it happened, somewhere,

Are you SURE she isn't getting anything to eat except her typical stuff? That's usually the cuplrit. Anyone else in the house who might be slipping her some treats? Also, consider that your usual food might have had unannounced changes made to the recipe. Companies do that more often than we may think.

Given the fact most dog food is of such low grade you should be grateful it isn't something more serious.

Legally dogs/cats have the same food protection as factory farmed animals and like them they can be fed back to them, cats to cats, cows to cows,vice vercia. meat meal or meat and bone meal can legally contain ANY meat, expect for maybe our own.
