Do you know and use one?

... an ear syringe. I'm wondering how many of you know about it and use one to clean your ear canals. I'm asking because every time, someone stayed at my house and saw it, they didn't even realized it existed. I'm surprised because it is often used in children and being the parent, I'd assumed he/she knew.

I use it often to clean my ear canals. It removed those annoying earwax that used to tickle me at night and woke me up. I use this one that has a safety guard to prevent it going too deep. I got mine at Walmart.

I have wondered about getting one. What do you use as the liquid? I get a thin film of earwax against one ear drum in recent years, and that film of wax makes a noise when I move my jaw. So I think I need to use one.

I don't mess with my ears. I get swimmer's ear so easily!

Check with your doc, but you really shouldn't clean out your ears "often" - the wax is there for a reason. It keeps dirt and bacteria out.

Never use a Q-Tip either.

Pepperseed is right....I do have both Jamaican Black and Ice Cream mangoes and I did write about both previously. I have been searching for the thread that I wrote about the Black mango but cannot find it. I did say that I would not have purchased it, in hind sight, based upon how it has turned out. Not being from Jamaica, I have no idea what the real Black mango is supposed to be. I bought mine from Maurice Kong (who is Jamaican) and it is a very small and uninteresting mango. The tree is also a small one and a very slow grower......close in size to Ice Cream.....so in that sense, they are similar....at least at my house. The fruit, however, is nothing like each other. Ice Cream has that strong resinous taste and complex flavor, is light color, almost white fleshed while Black has yellow/orange flesh and little or no resinous twang. The fruits are shaped totally different. But who knows, for all I know, maybe what I have was mis-labeled. As far as the doudouce mango....I have never heard of it. Based on its size and fiber content, I don't think I would be interested in growing it. Harry

What attracts you to this sporting breed? Is someone in your family a hunter? All the setters are beautiful, flashy dogs. The coats are fairly easy to care for as long as you perform a short daily maintenance brushing and combing (10 minutes)to prevent tangles and remove debris. Gordon Setters are, of course, quite similar to English and Irish Setters. Generally MUCH healthier than the Irish (which is plagued by cancer and epilepsy) but like all setters, they bloat easily and can be prone to dysplasia and PRA (progressive retinal atrophy) so a good breeder is a must. If you aren't going to hunt, look for a dog from show or "bench" lines. Field lines, as with other sporting breeds like pointers and retrievers, tend to be smaller and much, much more active. I prefer to call them high-spirited rather than hyper ;-) but mazer is correct .... exercise and structure are a must. They need more than a walk..or several walks. They need to be able to r-u-n, especially when they are under age 7. If you aren't particularly active, I suggest working with a rescue to find a suitable older dog because until they are at least 4-5, the activity level can be overwhelming. they are very calm and quiet when they get adequate exercise. They are very destructive and "barky" if you are dedicated to tiring them out. This is true of all the sporting breeds (and I daresay many other classes of dogs as well..at least the herders), so if you have previous experience with retrievers or pointers, it's certainly nothing exclusive to a Gordie. As a sporting breed bred specifically to work off-lead in the field with a hunter, they can most certainly be trained to be reliably off-leash, but you must put in the time necessary to train them to a high degree of reliability. As hunting dogs, they are generally friendly to people/other dogs, but cats can be a problem and they will certainly self-hunt, spending hours planning and executing(ha!) the eviction of every squirrel and rabbit on your property.

Whether you have a punch bowl or not, this is a recipe I got from my cousin and my family just love it. It is so simple to make Lime Punch Ã¯Â¿Â½ 1-48oz can unsweetened pineapple juice 2 cans frozen lime-ade, undiluted Ã¯Â¿Â½ cup liquid honey Ã¯Â¿Â½ cup sugar Ã¯Â¿Â½ optional (I omit and add a little more honey) 2 large bottles of 7 up ( the 750 ml size) ( I buy the 2 litre ones and use 6 cups) Combine first 4 ingredients in a large punch bowl. Add lime slices if you wish and ice. At serving time, add the 7 up. I actually mix the first ingredients a head of time and freeze them so that they are ready at any time. Just thaw out a few hours before you want it and then add the seven-up at the last minute.

Back in May I bought a little Black and Decker one that ran off of a lithium battery. A full charge got me about 13 minutes. It went back. I got a plug in Sun Joe and it works well for my needs. My husband calls it "weak".

My son in law uses a tool that hooks up to the shower to flush his ears out, per Dr. request. I would suggest anyone talk to the Doc first, than go on.

I agree, talk to your doctor first. I just want to point it out so you'd be awared that there is such a device to help cleaning your ear canals.

Hair in the ear canal also help to keep the dirt and bacteria out. Normally, earwax exit your ear canal naturally. However, if earwax build up, it can cause ear infection and may result in loss of hearing.

Read instructions carefully and use with warm water only. I use it once every other week as needed.

Be gentle when using this device. I tilt my head so the ear would face the sink. I GENTLY pump the warm water into the ear canal and remove the syringe quickly to let the water runs out. I repeat a few times until it feels refreshed. Then, I put a drop or two of rubbing alcohol into the canal to sanitize and help the water to evaporate quickly. It's easy and simple to use.

Please keep in mind that your ears also help to keep your body equilibrium. Because of this, once in awhile, I feel a bit sea sick for a few minutes. Thus, I clean my ear canals before going to bed.

As a nurse, here's my thoughts. If you have any hearing loss due to regularly occuring ear wax buildup, go see your doctor and have your ears flushed out safely. Then start using a drop of good olive oil (use an ear dropper) in each ear before you take your morning shower. The warmth and the olive oil keep the ear lubricated but can prevent excess wax buildup. As always, discuss this idea with your doctor first. Works wonders for those who suffer from chronic ear wax buildup.
Also, a water pick with warm water/head over the sink is another way to flush out ear wax buildup that is affecting the hearing. Probably would work best after some olive oil has been in the ear and warmed by a shower first. Again....as always, discuss this idea with your doctor first.

When I brought my son to Dr. for ear wax the nurse used a bottle type sprayer with a tube that she stuck in ear with about a 50/5 solution of warm water and hydrogen peroxide. My husband was told to use a water pick years ago by a Dr. to flush his ears out.
