I think it could be beautiful to treat it as a 'ruin'. With vines growing up, a secluded place to go. Put some wrought iron table and chairs on the foundation and it could be a romantic get-away place for you and your SO. Or, a great place for the children to play hop-scotch. If you're looking to save it, vines may not be the best choice. In that case, I would mow around it and plant native wildflowers. Tons of them. And native grasses, so you won't have to mow but perhaps once or twice a year. It depends on what you want to do with this barn, and what would look best with your home. So many possibilities!

Ouch, my heart is HURTING!!! I truly feel your pain!I will honestly get SICK when things like that happen, then I will think about it for days. I know, I'm obsessed!! At least you got something out of there to put in your garden. Kati, I will do the same thing, I am usually so excited when I find something that I will tell anyone who will listen what I'm going to do with it!!LOL!! Send us some pics soon! blessings-sherri

Thank you, sis! I got very lucky when I found this place. It's a lot of work, which is good, mostly spring, summer, and fall, of course. And oh, wish I could put it on wheels and move it to a nicer and more friendly town…but, can't have everything, I guess! What do you think of that photo of the barn window opening outward? I wonder how that would look on a wall, like an illusion of looking out the wall at a field? Might be interesting! And back at you, re: beautiful homes. Is this being converted to a residence? or will it remain agricultural? A lot more than you're describing needs to happen to convert it to a residence. But the flooring you're describing isn't for a barn.
