southdakotadaylily, We have more Stamile daylilies in our garden than any other hybridizers and next week there will be 33 more. There are a few that seem less tolerant of their new zone 5 home than the rest, but I don't think I have ever lost one. We don't have anything that approaches Stella for rebloom, but we are getting several that have immediate rebloom on a second set of scapes. I don't believe that Quartz Rainbow will have 55 buds this far north but I would be surprised if the scape is not very, very good. If it did produce that many buds per scape I wouldn't care if it rebloomed or not. If you have never ordered directly from Floyd Cove you owe it to yourself to do so at least once. We get many nice plants from the south but no one sends plants Like FC. I told them once that if they sent larger plants they would have to ship them north on a logging truck and I would need a tree spade to plant them! Dale

I learned that roses can handle "heavy" soil by accident. My sister has great soil (loose, fast draining) and she says roses don't do well in it because it is too "loose". Mine have done great even when I haven't amended as well as I thought the roses wanted. Hybrid teas, floribunda and Austin. If your tree rose is in loamy soil the only way to force those roots down is by deep watering.

Huge hugs for you and your DH Moonie! I lost my heart dog October 16th. The day we planned Madison's 7th birthday party. All the GB's were here and family. I cried and cried and had to pull it together for the little ones so they could have their party. I don't know if I could have done it enough to go to a job interview. My hat is off to you. I know it hurts so terribly bad! I still think of our little girlie girl Miss. I tear up often. It isn't all day long anymore. I will never,ever forget her as I know you won't with Quincy. I remember you posting pictures of him way back when you first got him. He looked like such a total love. It doesn't take long for them to wrap those little paws around your heart. My DSis had a Doberman that had terrible seizures also, he was young when she had to put him down also I am thinking around Quincy's age. Thank you every one for all the kind word, poems & hugs. It was a hard decision but we wanted her to go out on the high road. We made the mistake one time of hanging on to a dog to long for our own selfish reasons & vowed to never do that again. When I spoke to one of the staff at the vet's office she said to bring her in. After speaking to Doc he agreed. He remembered us hanging on to Casey to long. Of course I stayed with her the whole time, my husband was at work. We are really missing that sweet little dog, we took her every where with us. Sleeperblues, so sorry to hear about your dog.. You did not hijack this thread, you extended your hand out to me because we are in the same boat right now. On the bright side-Calico Kitty is enjoying having her food bowl being kept on the floor now. Biscuit loved sneaking a bite of cat food.
