Ella Jane for a girl (named after Ella Jane Fitzgerald - we both absolutely LOVE her)

and Oliver Cole if it's a boy.

What do you think?

I started the thread on the name of the new page. However, I am not sure GW will allow us to change it from Conversations - that is standard across the board for this site. I will ask Alexa if this is something GW would consider. If they won't change it on the page we can always refer to it as the name we decide on. Hudson is a wonderful name and will go well with your other names. I am hoping for a boy, because as much as I love the name "Hudson" (and I really, truly do,) I think it works better for a boy than a girl. All that said, names are so unisex these days that it probably doesn't matter. Best wishes for an uneventful pregnancy. I like your choice and above all....your reasons! I will send positive thoughts for a healthy baby! In this day and age it is almost unknown NOT to know what the sex is. However, I think it is kinda neat. My son Phil and his wife Jolie did not want to know. The result of the Ultra Sound was "sealed" in an envelope, locked in their filing cabinet AND they did not open it until after the birth. Girls are very rare on Gary's side of the family, so Adeline Kay was a welcome surprise! Best wishes bestowed upon you and your family. Can't wait for the arrival of your little one.

I can compare pre-pandemic to mid-pandemic at least a little bit. We were already in what seemed like constant crisis mode, but then the pace picked up. But then who knows, it might be just a permanent trend. Between elders, kids, grandkids, friends and then your own health, it's no wonder the hits keep coming. It's statistics!! I have a lot of friends, and I've been dealing with the fallout of two car accidents in addition to just the inevitable attrition of the elders. This spring has been a hailstorm of issues. Here's hoping for some positives to show up on the horizon!!

I grew up with an Ella Jane. Her mother picked her name from a True Story magazine.

Eliza Ann, I found a list of doctors online that are taking "new obstetrical patients only" and called the one that was closest to me. I have my first appointment booked for next Wednesday.

Summer, I really hadn't made the Nicole-Cole connection. Now I'm wondering if people would think I'm naming him after myself?

Jamie, definitely. I'm not patient enough to wait. And I want to be able to do a lot of yard sale shopping over the Summer - so I'll need to know if I'm shopping for a boy or girl.

I love both names. Tell you why ! They are simple to pronounce and spell. I have a daughter named LYNDA - she has had to spell that name ALL her life. Even my nickname (Ernie), gets spelled wrong. Congrats

I LOVE them Nicole! Especially the girl name...our youngest is Evelyn Jane and I will often use the whole thing when I call her. :)

I am so excited for you! Naming the baby is one of the best parts of the whole process, I think.

I like them also.I also have only ever known one person named Ella,and that's my Gramma who was born in 1879,so that's a good old fashioned name.She was Ella Blanche.

Those are both nice simple and easy to spell names ( coming from one whose 3 kids will all have to spell out their names all the time) I understand about the garage saleing this summer. I am lucky with this unplanned baby, because we have 2 girls and 1 boy and have clothes for either so it is going to be a long 8 and a half months so am going to wait. We found out with the first, left the second to surprise and found out the third. So will wait this one out.

Good luck on the pregnancy,When are you due?? I am due the first part of November.

Me too, Stacie! My due date is Nov. 5. Both of my first two were late - I'm hoping for this one to be a little early, but we'll see! :) I didn't hang on to my kids' baby clothes. Wish I had!

Nicole,

Our babies will be really close in ages, how cool. I would share my baby clothes if I could but we are a bit too far away:) I have kept both the girls clothes, we went through them yesterday and I have 3 20 gallon totes full of 24 month clothes. I also kept all my maternity clothes so I am ready to go. I didn't plan on this one, but my I have 5 siblings that will be having babies to pass the clothes along. I passed on Haydens clothes to my sis in law, and she never used one of the outfits, so I am going to keep all the rest of the sizes claiming I might need them for the next baby.

Had to chime in here (I'm usually on the cooking forum). My son is 17 and named "Oliver". If he had been a girl, he would have been "Ella". Really.

I like them both, Nicole. Are you prepared, though, for everyone to be calling him "Ollie"? 'Cause it's bound to happen!

My mom has a black cat named Cole. She calls him "Colesy-Wolesy". lolol Or Pookie. No, I have no idea why. And it's not related to your kid's names, either, I just felt like sharing that. rofl
