Ella Jane for a girl (named after Ella Jane Fitzgerald - we both absolutely LOVE her)

and Oliver Cole if it's a boy.

What do you think?

Hudson is a wonderful name and will go well with your other names. I am hoping for a boy, because as much as I love the name "Hudson" (and I really, truly do,) I think it works better for a boy than a girl. All that said, names are so unisex these days that it probably doesn't matter. Best wishes for an uneventful pregnancy. I'm sorry you lost him Rita. (Rita) I wish you wouldn't beat yourself up. I am certain you were the last thing Rex saw. Rex had been in cardiac distress for sometime before you got him to the vet's office Monday and by the time he was taken from you to the back most likely he was was too far gone to know or recognize anything. Lori Bless you and Bless Rex. He looks like he was quite a character!

I think a lot of the reason SD's mom and I have reached the point we are at (which has stepped back from the sharing a hide-a-bed days, but is still okay) is because of this forum. I learned to see things more from her point of view. I was able to see all that she has missed out on (caused by her own choices and actions, but I digress) and how that could turn her into the person she is now. I think of how hard I fought to gain custody of SD and then imagine what it would be like to loose it. . . then I multiply that by 100 and imagine if I were her bio-mom. I learned that as bad a mom I may think her, there are others who make her look like Mom of the Year. I realized that I wasn't alone and not a Horrible Person for the thoughts I had about her. I was able to let go of a lot of my hatred and re-direct it as sympathy and understanding, for it is usually the miserable that aim to make others miserable. You don't see a lot of truly happy people trying to make life difficult for everyone around them. I learned that considering myself a failure because I couldn't make this woman like me was about the dumbest thing I'd ever done - if I dislike her on so many levels and for so many reasons, why in God's name would I want her as a friend?!? Truly, I owe this board credit for a bit of my newly found sanity. Now we'll see how long it lasts.

I like your choice and above all....your reasons! I will send positive thoughts for a healthy baby! In this day and age it is almost unknown NOT to know what the sex is. However, I think it is kinda neat. My son Phil and his wife Jolie did not want to know. The result of the Ultra Sound was "sealed" in an envelope, locked in their filing cabinet AND they did not open it until after the birth. Girls are very rare on Gary's side of the family, so Adeline Kay was a welcome surprise! Best wishes bestowed upon you and your family. Can't wait for the arrival of your little one.

I grew up with an Ella Jane. Her mother picked her name from a True Story magazine.

Eliza Ann, I found a list of doctors online that are taking "new obstetrical patients only" and called the one that was closest to me. I have my first appointment booked for next Wednesday.

Summer, I really hadn't made the Nicole-Cole connection. Now I'm wondering if people would think I'm naming him after myself?

Jamie, definitely. I'm not patient enough to wait. And I want to be able to do a lot of yard sale shopping over the Summer - so I'll need to know if I'm shopping for a boy or girl.

I love both names. Tell you why ! They are simple to pronounce and spell. I have a daughter named LYNDA - she has had to spell that name ALL her life. Even my nickname (Ernie), gets spelled wrong. Congrats

I LOVE them Nicole! Especially the girl name...our youngest is Evelyn Jane and I will often use the whole thing when I call her. :)

I am so excited for you! Naming the baby is one of the best parts of the whole process, I think.

I like them also.I also have only ever known one person named Ella,and that's my Gramma who was born in 1879,so that's a good old fashioned name.She was Ella Blanche.

Those are both nice simple and easy to spell names ( coming from one whose 3 kids will all have to spell out their names all the time) I understand about the garage saleing this summer. I am lucky with this unplanned baby, because we have 2 girls and 1 boy and have clothes for either so it is going to be a long 8 and a half months so am going to wait. We found out with the first, left the second to surprise and found out the third. So will wait this one out.

Good luck on the pregnancy,When are you due?? I am due the first part of November.

Me too, Stacie! My due date is Nov. 5. Both of my first two were late - I'm hoping for this one to be a little early, but we'll see! :) I didn't hang on to my kids' baby clothes. Wish I had!

Our babies will be really close in ages, how cool. I would share my baby clothes if I could but we are a bit too far away:) I have kept both the girls clothes, we went through them yesterday and I have 3 20 gallon totes full of 24 month clothes. I also kept all my maternity clothes so I am ready to go. I didn't plan on this one, but my I have 5 siblings that will be having babies to pass the clothes along. I passed on Haydens clothes to my sis in law, and she never used one of the outfits, so I am going to keep all the rest of the sizes claiming I might need them for the next baby.

Had to chime in here (I'm usually on the cooking forum). My son is 17 and named "Oliver". If he had been a girl, he would have been "Ella". Really.

I like them both, Nicole. Are you prepared, though, for everyone to be calling him "Ollie"? 'Cause it's bound to happen!

My mom has a black cat named Cole. She calls him "Colesy-Wolesy". lolol Or Pookie. No, I have no idea why. And it's not related to your kid's names, either, I just felt like sharing that. rofl
