Question on Kitty Dental Needs

I have two feral cats I took in a few years ago. They are happy, healthy and a couple of goofballs. I've had dogs since I was ten, never cats. What do you do about cats dental needs? I've managed to pry up a lip and their teeth appear fine, but what do you do as they age? Do they require same dental care as dogs.? Reason I'm asking: Riley, the neutered male, is a little Napolean, fierce as heck, but we've found out he's scared deep inside of everything. Getting to a vet would be a major undertaking. Allie is a sweetie, but can't be picked up. She screechs and paddles her legs and wiggles out of your arms. I'd have to get her a snug halter and two people to hold her down. Any experiences with cat's teeth? Thanks! - Ellen
