My Mexican Soup Too Spicy, How Would You Have Fixed It?

It really does taste good except, it's probably gonna be a little much for HD. I was just adding this and that from the pantry and didn't realize the 2nd can of Rotel Tomatoes was HOT...instead of mild! Now my Mexican Soup is too spicy...and a packet of Taco Sauce was just a little too much! So what to do to tone it down...here's what I tried and it worked! What other suggestions would you have made? Will be serving with sour cream and shredded cheese. The sour cream will tone it down even more...so,

* I added a dollop or two of honey. You can't taste the sweetness but it knocks out the spice. It really works.

* Didn't have time to try it, but understand one or two peeled potatoes placed in the food item for an hour or so will help to neutralize the spice some too. Remove whole potato before serving.

Pass the chips please!
