Love that birdhouse.

Kinda makes me appreciate my nice warm house, though.

Love your new birdhouse! Very different and pretty. It goes well with your teapot and tureen in the background. I can't wait to see what you do with your lily garden come spring!

Love the color! Did you use Gourdmaster dyes? It almost looks like their rich mahogany. I love that stuff! It brings out the beautiful pattern on the gourd but makes it an outstanding color - almost like richly stained wood. Great job! This was a drum I made out of a gourd and used the Gourdmaster dye on. I can't remember which color but it made it look like stained wood.

I second Purplemoon's comments and question (though I live in Michigan, and we do have some really pretty birds). What is that bird? It is so striking with it's teal color and sharp markings! Your jar birdhouse reminds me of some of the teapot birdhouses on this forum. I need to make some of those! Kathy

birdhouse gourds dry?

I leave my gourds outside all winter, but in cardboard boxes on the patio so they don't blow away. Then I open the boxes, and after a rainy day, or two, in spring, I take out a 5 gallon bucket of warm soapy water (for my hands) and a chore boy scrubbie, and work away. If it has been dry outside, the cleaning is much harder, as the skin is stuck tightly to the shell. Then the fun really begins.

Love the birdhouse nestled in the snowy pine. Looks so safe and protected.

The female cardinal is a great capture! Love your photos.

Both are excellent shots!

The second one is very crisp for a close-up. Great detail.
