She is very young. Her eyes will open at about 14 days.

Make sure she is warmed; put a heating pad set on LOW under her bedding.

Not sure if you know this: after you feed her, gently rub her (like her mom would lick her) so she burps. It also helps her better digest her food.

And you already probably know you need to stimulate her to pee and poop? I use unscented baby wipes on babykittens like that. If I can, I warm them :)

A name? How about Pupik? It means "belly-button" in Yiddish :)

Eh.. congratulations on your very, very NEW kitten! She is very lucky to have found your home. Have never had a kitten that young. She looks very cute!
As for names? Wait to see what most often comes out of your mouth naturally when you are talking to her. It may take some time, though. I personally like names linked to their own personalities or their origins (how they came to us--street of the name she was found on??). Elly's suggestion (and your kitten colors) made me think of "Paprika".. and she is already 'spicing up' your life!

Anne-Marie (& Peachy, Lunabella, Cosette and Captain Pete --our very recent addition: 15 months at the shelter where I volunteer-I had known him for so long as Pete that I couldn't get used to any other names.. he sort of runs the house.. so he became Captain Pete!

A cat this young should still be with mom, if possible I'd locate a nursing mom and see if you can trick her into thinking this kitten belongs with her litter, vapor rub is useful in this.

Kittens that are taken from mom too early can get all sorts of problems, from no bite inhibatation ( they bite too hard in play) to wool sucking.

Her eyes are open so I'd say she is around 14 days old - but somehow I feel the eyes have not opened 'normally' and so I'm taking care that she is never in bright light. Not a heating pad, but I give her a hot water bottle wrapped up in blankets so it's not too warm, and might try a ticking clock and see if she likes it. Burps like a champ, pees like a champ ... now I'm waiting to see if she poops.

She is much calmer now, probably getting used to the carrier and the bottle. I've raised many tiny ones in the past, but this one has the loudest meow for her age LOL

Unfortunately trying to place her with a nursing mom isn't an option in this case because Feline Friends cats are all spayed - and to find a nursing mum would mean I'd have to look for a stray mum cat - no space to keep nursing mum, her kittens and this one :(

There's another tiny kitten being looked after by a volunteer, I might get that one as the volunteer is going out of town soon.

"Little one" should be.. since this is what comes out naturally when you talk to her.. until something else replaces it! It will come naturally, right from your heart and your bonding with "Little One".
After I sent my answer, I realized "Little One" was your foster baby.. not (yet?) yours. I simply do not know if I could do that. I could not part with my 'fosters' after day one... LOL! Good for you, Pranjal!
Give "Little One" a belly scratch.. and a companion.. she might be delighted. And good luck on her first 'poop'!

As Elly said, you have to rub her little butt area to get the poo and pee out. My very first cat(when I was a dumb college kid) had an inadvertant litter before i had her spade...I thought something was wrong because there was no mess in the nesting box I had made for Ms. Kitty and her babies. I was alarmed and called the vet who assure me that Mom would take care of licking up the waste. Yuck...but Nature sure takes care of these thing.

Hi Lisa! Good to 'see' you again! About twenty years ago, I saw my cat giving birth and had to assist in the delivery. I was fascinated with the way Mongoose cleaned her babies. Our Lil One, as I said, pees like a champ when stimulated, no poop yet. I'll wait until tomorrow. Some other volunteers are waiting for a 'poop update' as well!

Anne, Lunabella was the name I once thought of giving to our very first cat here in the UAE - because she was/is a lunatic LOL (sorry I don't mean to imply that your cat is a lunatic). Nice names - Captain Pete! So cute - and apt!

If I could keep any more cats, I would keep all my fosters. I do cry a bit before giving them away but at least I know I tried to give them a good start in life. Their forever homes are carefully selected so I know they'll be happy with their new families.

DH has taken to calling her 'Kombdi'. It means 'chicken' in Marathi, our mother tongue (one of the many Indian languages).

She doesn't drink properly so I've been stroking the top of her head down to the neck as she starts; I remember reading somewhere long ago that it's what mum cats do to encourage them to feed. She seems to go at it a little energetically then - but then gets lazy again. Little stinker!

Oh, almost forgot this while talking about Kombdi - I got a job at the vet's clinic. In early 2008 I was super-excited to work with a very well-established vet practice but sadly it was a short-lived association. The vet I'll be working with, knows me from that other clinic - and I know all the staff there as I go there very often to take care of the FF cats awaiting adoption. It'll be part-time, 5 hrs a day, 5 days a week so I'll get time to devote to my five cats and fosters and other FF work. I'm very happy!

It may be best to give her to a breeder, or some area that has mom cats, if you keep the cat with you she could die or end up with behavior issues., Young cats like this need to be fed every two hours,ect, anyway.

If you do keep her, I'd find either a mom cat or as many litter mates as possible, try to keep them until 12 weeks and fix um before they get adopted..

Congratulations Pranjal on your new job! Your Lil One is indeed in good hands!! Is she giving you good poops now??? By the way, my Lunabella is not so much lunatic as she has 'moon' markings on her face (a tuxedo cat). We tend to add 'bella' to our cat's nicknames.

My orange tabby Taffy was about that age when I took him home, our local feed-store is a cat-magnet and ends up fostering dumped babies each kitten-season.
As far as feeding every two hours, it is the usually recommended procedure, however, the feed-store closes at 6 o'clock and opens at 8 o'clock, so all the kittens were unattended for that stretch. No harm to any of them, they were kept in a brooder with a lamp for warmth, and in all the years they never lost one, though most of them were, of course, not quite that little.
When I brought Taffy home, he was fed frequently during the day, I gave him his last bottle just before I retired, around 11 p.m., wrapped him into a towel and put him in the cat-carrier on a heating pad; he slept all night, got fed as soon as I rose, about 6 o'clock.
He did very well, is 5 years old now. The only thing I found is that he is a bit more careless with teeth and claws, can't play "nice" with me, so I have to watch that. Mom cats and litter-mates usually take care of that behavior.
He sucked on the bottle so fiercely that he bit the nipple off a couple of times, I know Mama cat would have taken steps to see that this doesn't happen more than once.
