Nodak Gal. I'm so sorry for this terrible time you and your neighbors are having. I hope it doesn't last too long. My heart goes out to all the wonderful volunteers I see on the news, filling and putting out the sand bags. I;ll keep all of these people in my thoughts and prayers. Dottie

I hope it calms down Connie. I remember filling sandbags and sandbagging our bowling alley when I was about 15. We got water in our basement that year. It came in the back door. We should have been bagging there. But we were the highest spot in town, and figured we wouldn't get water. Our house was built on a hill, front door faced the street, but the back door (into Mom's beauty salon) was at the lower part of the hill.

Wow, been seeing that on the news. Coming first hand from you, I feel so sorry for all that are having such gosh awful weather.

Wish there was some way I could help, but all I guess I can do is send MIGHTY SPECIAL THOUGHTS FOR ALL OF YA'LL!

Lights are still flickering to beat heck. We still have power tho and the snow is mainly rain and ice/slush now. The next town 13 miles away has lost power. If the power goes out and the sump pumps quit, there is going to be an even bigger mess!
I am so thankful I am not in Fargo where it is very serious.

When is the storm supposed to let up Connie? I've been thinking about you the past couple of days and hope you escape any damage.

Well, Connie, DD just called...her son had left numerous messages for her at work, so she dashed home to find neighbors there with large commercial kind of sump pumps draining her yard! So she doesn't have that to contend with, at least. She said her office is closing for half a day tomorrow in order for them all to go help fill sandbags.

I remember reading Steven Ambrose's description of the Lewis and Clark expedition. I don't recall where the expedition was at the time, but the scene was wading through the countryside as they progressed, no rive in sight and not a dry square inch of land anywhere, but the water a good foot deep for days of travel and hardship. Must have been very flat land.

Thats the only good thing about life in ND Phyllis, good friends and neighbors are always willing to help!

Now if one of mine would come and get my heat going I'd be extremely happy!
No heat cause somedarnthing on the boiler quit. Its 65 degrees in here and I am cold. We have electric heaters that will warm things up as long as we have electricity. (but we do have a car wash that needs to be heated in this weather and lots of plumbing in the business, we are all in the same building)
Everything is iced over here and power lines are down in several directions. Limbs breaking off trees too cause they are encased in ice.

I saw Fargo on the national news and heck it was clear there! Not raining or snowing! How do they rate? LOL

Now its snowing again and getting nasty!

Its a cool 20 degrees and thanks to DH we have HEAT, oh its wonderful!

Saw pictures in the paper today of ND. Man, the weather gods are really socking it to you these last few days. Please stay safe and warm. Cheers to your DH for the warmth part!! Hope things settle down soon for you.

P.S. Didn't you live on a river/lake (?) before you sold your house and moved? Do you know how that house is faring?

So much for warmth. The relay DH went and got is NOT working. The power was out for an hour too!I stood in the boiler room for 40 minutes holding a flashlight and listened to DH cuss and swear at the dark while replacing it. I am ready to go to bed and stay there, its been an awful day for us. Back to recall the plumber! This time he may have to come down instead of selling a part.

Patti, that's not me. Must be someone else, tho there are only 3 of us in ND. Neither Caroline or Marie sold a house on water and moved either.....

Marie here under blizzard watches. Got about 5 inches of snow today, but no flooding yet. But then we don't have the rivers near us and we are on the upper side of the town and our ditches were pretty clear before winter came again. Our prayer and thoughts are going out to those suffering with the flooding and freezing, especially Linton whose boys just won the Class B basketball championship. Some of those poor kids have lost their homes or had severiously damage. Lots of closed roads and blowing snow. Expect Spring this weekend for another 3 days until winter comes again. Forget about summer.\
