The best laminate made.

I posted my counters and kitchen photos previously in this thread. My countertop installer highly recommended that I NOT install a typical laminate backsplash. After my counter was installed, I applied a bead of clear silicone. After my DH installed beaded-board paneling as our backsplash, I again applied a silicone seal where the paneling met the counter. We finished off the transition with a piece of waterproof quarter-round molding. I haven't had any issues with water, although I have accidentally flooded that area behind my sink a couple of times. I just wick the water away with a paper towel. Concerning the shine, my counters don't seem to have as much shine in person as they do in photos, probably because the flash of the camera bounces off the counter.

An observation, take it or leave it. I kept a large sample of my WilsonArt Frost white matte on my old counter for about two months, using it for a coaster and trivet. I washed it once a week "whether it need it or not". It was wonderful. No stains whatsoever and cleaned up like new. Cut to the chase. I now have it on my whole counter. Clean up is not such a breeze. Not terribly difficult but not so easy eather. Whatever that finish was on my "old" counter was easier to keep clean than this. I'm happy with the appearance in the kitchen and I knew white counter would have to be wiped every day; the whole thing, I didn't expect it to need a little elbow grease from time to time.

Wow! I'm blushing at all the compliments! So, of the links that zmith posted, I'd say mine is more like the mystique sharp curve, but it is definitely the eased edge as posted in iowacommute's link. I don't know if the terminology is different in Canada than the US, but it is definitely more square than round, and I am fairly sure the guy that made them had the laminate sheets and put it on the substrate himself. I gave my contractor the big 5x7 sample I had and he took it to his countertop guy. It might be called a D-wrap, but I think the D-wrap was more round, whereas mine is more square,but rounded off. It is 3.5cm, measured in cms, not converted from inches. I actually picked the pattern out at Lowes Canada and asked them about the various edge samples they had in the kitchen department and I'm pretty sure that's where I got the "eased edge" name from.
