YES! I so totally agree!!!!!!
My mother is that way as well. When I first got married I cannot tell you how many pets we went through. and when there was some sort of a problem my mother always wound up with said pet. (well she still does at times cause I rescue cats and they wind up on her farm) the Shih Tzu that wouldn't stop doing #2 on the floor is now thanks to mom rehomed with a lovely girl and NEVER goes in the house. the Dacshound that wouldn't leave my unmentionables alone has a new home with a lovely bachelor (hope he don't invite anyone over, LOL!) joke, he knows about the habit.
My mother to this day still fusses me out about things, lucky thing though, she has a excellent vet and I work off all vet expenses on her farm (well I still can't figure out how I landed on the dirt by that belgian/quarter cross even after she warned me to keep his head up)

Are we related? Imagine my mother's horror when we settled on our house one day, and picked up our new puppy the next day. Topping that, 2 weeks later confirmation that I was two months pregnant. You want to hear a lecture? LOL She was not wrong, but not exactly right either. It was alot to handle all at once, but we probably did much better because of the lecture (didn't want her to have the satisfaction of saying I told you so).
I thihk the funniest part of it all is that we were both 30 years old when I had my daughter.

The sharing of information and community are great on the pets forum. There's nothing like having someone commiserate at 2 a.m.

The poor pets I had when I didn't know better.

When we know better, we do better. My pets aren't perfect, their lives aren't perfect. They don't get to go to dog parks or day care. We don't hike or swim. I don't cook for them but they are well fed, see the vet for yearly shots, on monthly heartworm prevention. They sleep on the bed and are loved.

sheesh! I just realized I'm my mother all over again! :)

Not long ago I mentioned in another post about my son getting a dog that he can't afford to properly care for. What did I do? I became my mother (and y'alls too!) and fussed him out. It's become a daily thing, although I have to say for myself, I have been "advising" rather than fussing. At least, trying to.

Currently researching housebreaking an older dog.... AND to stop jumping on people. This one is really burning me up... I'm sick to death of dirty paw marks on my clothes when visiting! This is the most unruly dog I've ever seen. And son and his family aren't helping by letting the dog dart out the door ahead of them, getting his feet dirty and then jumping. They're too overwhelmed with the 2 kids they have to attempt to train a dog on a consistant basis. It's almost a lost cause, I'm afraid, yet it doesn't stop me from "advising". We had discussed bringing the dog to my house for a good start but I'm pretty sure my golden wouldn't appreciate such bad behavior around him. And I KNOW the cats wouldn't! I would just like to be able to help out.... for the dog's sake. Sometimes I wish I could muzzle and leash my kids.. grown, or not!

Ummm, sorry. Didn't mean to go off! Was only gonna say the world is a better place because of mothers. I may have to rethink that one. :)

Ha! I have one over on my mother in that area! When we go out to her farm her dogs ALWAYS jump on the car (really steams DH) then you might see a cat sleeping on top of the car (to get away from the dogs) the other day I walked past the car to see one of her Peacocks on it. But when she visits my house The dogs will run up to her happy to see her, but they wait for her to pick them up to give them loves patiently by her feet (or not so patiently) Giz will whine if she don't pick him right up.

Even tho everyone may not always agree I think one thing this forum has is that everyone here on a regular basis really loves animals, wants to do the best they can by their pets and wants to offer info and food for thought to help anyone else that asks do the best by their pets.You can always learn something here.
