My $26 scented drawer liner paper

The gift shop in town said they no longer carry scented drawer paper because the place they used to order it from no longer offer it. I used to pay $9.99 a box. So, I called all over the county looking for the stuff and no one carried it.

Finally, went online and ended up paying $20 + $4.95 S/H + $1.85 tax for a box from Crabtree and Evelyn! Yes, I could have used Fabreeze or powdered some plain paper, but I really wanted that pretty box and rose water scented paper with roses printed on it; like I remembered from years ago. One good thing about this box is that it is 12" wide and 27" long - fits the drawers much better and you don't waste alot cutting off the length. But sheesh - $26.80 for six sheets? Yikes. The whole house smelled like roses when I was working with it, and now my nose is all stuffy and my eyes burn a little. Wouldn't that be a hoot if I'm allergic to it?

I remember Crabtree and Evelyn soaps, I used to love to get those packages in the mail - goat milk soap, rose and lemon soap, oatmeal soap. Not sure if they still have a catalog or not.

Sounds pretty.I use to put scented paper in my dresser drawers but I never bother with it anymore.Maybe because I don't have a permanent dresser anymore?? I am basically living out of my suitcase right now,or a plastic storage box.LOL
I think if you enjoy it and it makes you feel good,why not!I am really sensitive to fragrances as I get older.Never was before.I sure hope you aren't allergic to it.

I love scented drawer liners too & have a dear friend who know loves it too, but never pay full price 'cause when it's on sale really cheap ($2. or $3.) I buy several boxes.

The only place I ever find it at that price is @ Tuesday Morning's, but rarely get there anymore.

There do seem to be more people who can't stand perfumes these days. I used to like those magazine inserts but now they all smell alike to me, perhaps I'm just smelling whatever they use to fix the fragrance to the paper? I don't buy those magazines any more. My problems with perfume in elevators is intermittent. I read somewhere that some cheaper perfumes and body sprays and deodorants contain a not very healthy chemical extender. I think the chemical was named but later I couldn't find the article again so I've never researched it further. I just assumed that I'd finally found an explanation for why sometimes I'm bothered (cheap and synthetic) and sometimes I'm not (real extract of rose petals or whatever). We sometimes stay with relatives interstate who have perfumed soaps in all their cupboards and that doesn't bother me at all.

I went out to Walmart yesterday and bought some clear (not cushy) non-adhesive Contact paper, unrolled 1 roll and put it (18" wide) in my drawer near the stove where I keep pot holders, trivets, removable handles for my pans. I'm going to see how it works (that cabinet back was broken by installer so stuff wiggles when I close the drawer - not softclose) and maybe put it in all my drawers. That drawer was getting a little worn after only 18 months with stuff in it. My deep drawer in island has a scratch through the paper maple-grain laminate on top of the plywood. Other top drawer near stove has a chip in the laminate (not melamine). These are Merillat's "Deluxe" drawers - not sure if you can get lacquered solid maple bottoms along with the plywood sides if you go with their "Masterpiece" line, but I know the two solid maple dovetailed drawers I ordered online have a much better finish on them than the doors and drawer fronts on my Merillat cabinets! I don't want those drawer bottoms to get scratched either, but at least I know if they do I can refinish them. I've got dish towels in them now. If the clear Contact paper (says it's safe for all finishes, unlike the cushy ones made by Duck I saw in Walmart and BB&B) doesn't work out I'll try the cork. Nothing should be put away wet (unless a recess where the handle attaches on my pots is holding water, but I put those in the dish drainer after taking them out of the DW so they can dry thoroughly), and I'm getting plastic silverware organizers for my cake spatulas, kids' pencils, markers, etc. b4 I put them in new drawers so just need them to keep things from shifting or scratching - esp. things like our collection of chargers that is currently sitting in a ziploc bag near the MW.

I can relate to so many of these comments. I feel too, that we are bombarded by fragrance now, and I don't know if I changed or the industry changed - but after 1985 I stopped wearing all perfumes. Before that, I was one of those offenders, wearing Shalimar, Chanel 19, Givenchy, went crazy over them. That was the year was pregnant and had my son so maybe my body changed during that time and never went back. Now, so many things bother me!! Stores filled with candles, eucalyptus, incense, room fresheners, people drenched in cologne, cars with cardboard pine cones hanging from the rearview mirror, or scented with artificial strawberry (that one has to be the worst) - even on the beach this summer, I had to move to a different spot because the person 30 feet away from me had some kind of artificial coconut sun tan lotion on that just reeked. I even have to avoid the aisle in the supermarket where the artifically buttered microwave popcorn lurks. All I can smell is "rancid." LOL. It's banned at home as well - unless I'm out of the house, the kids cannot make it! I'm not allergic in the true sense of the word but get an immediate sinus headache from all these things. I don't use fabric softener or any detergent with scent. It's amazing too, how nice and "crisp" clothes feel when they haven't been "softened" (i.e. covered with a layer of grease). We have a blended family and when my son comes home from his dad's house,and my stepdaughters come back from their mom's, I can smell the Bounce sheets a mile away. That reminds me. We bought a vacation home last year and the previous owner must have read one of those Household Hint columns. There were individual Bounce sheets in every drawer, every cupboard, behind furniture and even under carpets. I'm still looking for them every time I go up there. And I'm sure that on some level, even by my family, I am viewed as a "fussy" person, so I hate making a big deal of it. I know people are tired of hearing me protest. But even chenille sweaters bug me -- blocked sinuses, itchy eyes. So added to all those "oh no, Hon, what's that new smell on you?" comments, my husband has to try to not wear the nice gifts he got from his daughters. LOL, yesterday my son came home with a bag of hazelnut flavoured coffee. I started to rant. Everyone else loves it, and all I can think about is a sandwich place I used to go to at lunch time, where the tuna, roast beef and egg salad sandwiches all tasted like hazelnut coffee because they had a pot of it brewing in there all the time. plllog, You've got to be either kidding, misreading, miswriting, or messing up the mathematics! This is a link to cork liners at Williams-Sonoma. $20.00 for a 12FOOT x 1.5FOOT (18inch) mat. I'm not sure why you're wanting to compute the cost in square inches but that is $79e-3 (or $0.0079) per square inch. Your $0.79/square inch would be mean that a similar sized roll would run to more than $1990.00. You couldn't POSSIBLY be finding prices like that - because of the similarity of the numbers, I'm guessing that somehow, somewhere you've neglected to divide by a factor of 100! Regardless where the messup - WS will give you a 12 foot roll of corkliner, 18" wide, for $20.00 You could buy 100 rolls of that for the cost of 1 roll that you're computing ;-)

I discovered how pricey Crabtree & Evelyn is when my daughter gave me a set of three "hand therapy" creams as a gift.

My grandmother loved that stuff.
Maybe when you need more, or to stock up, try ebay. Some really good prices there.

I haven't had scented drawer liners in years. My daughter gets a lot of fashion magazines. Vogue, Glamour.Self,etc. Full of perfume ads with those "try it" strips. I pull them out of her magazines and put them in the drawers with my undies. A cotton ball with a few drops of a favorite perfume or cologne works the same. I am so cheap!

I love it too. Makes me feel special. When I moved in 2008 I put all new scented shelf paper in my drawers. Looks pretty, smells great and makes me feel special. ;)

Hope you aren't allergic to it.

I too buy my scented drawer liner from Tuesday Mornings and I can assure you it costs a lot less than $26. Probably a lot less than $10 even.

Never heard of such! No way could I use it- I would have a migraine just putting the clothes away! Hope you find it on sale soon.

No, don't think I'm allergic now. The scent isn't as strong when you walk into the bedroom today, and I thought the articles of clothing in the drawers would be highly scented - but they aren't.

You know what? I did think of Tuesday Mornings! We have a store in the area, but for some reason didn't bother to drive over there. Sometimes they have wonderful soap collections and such, sometimes they don't; so there may not be any liner paper. Agree, I should have checked there first.

I use rose scented soap (The Alaskan Soap Company's Sitka Rose) in my dresser drawers. Works well and I get to use the soap, too.

My MIL gave me a box. A friend at work complimented me on mu "Cologne." I had not idea the scent from the paper would transfer to the clothes enough that someone could smell it from four feet away. Actually made me feel guilty since so many people are allergic these days. I still have the paper and no one has said anything recently. Maybe the scent disapates after a while?
