My $26 scented drawer liner paper

The gift shop in town said they no longer carry scented drawer paper because the place they used to order it from no longer offer it. I used to pay $9.99 a box. So, I called all over the county looking for the stuff and no one carried it.

Finally, went online and ended up paying $20 + $4.95 S/H + $1.85 tax for a box from Crabtree and Evelyn! Yes, I could have used Fabreeze or powdered some plain paper, but I really wanted that pretty box and rose water scented paper with roses printed on it; like I remembered from years ago. One good thing about this box is that it is 12" wide and 27" long - fits the drawers much better and you don't waste alot cutting off the length. But sheesh - $26.80 for six sheets? Yikes. The whole house smelled like roses when I was working with it, and now my nose is all stuffy and my eyes burn a little. Wouldn't that be a hoot if I'm allergic to it?

I remember Crabtree and Evelyn soaps, I used to love to get those packages in the mail - goat milk soap, rose and lemon soap, oatmeal soap. Not sure if they still have a catalog or not.

Sounds pretty.I use to put scented paper in my dresser drawers but I never bother with it anymore.Maybe because I don't have a permanent dresser anymore?? I am basically living out of my suitcase right now,or a plastic storage box.LOL
I think if you enjoy it and it makes you feel good,why not!I am really sensitive to fragrances as I get older.Never was before.I sure hope you aren't allergic to it.

I love scented drawer liners too & have a dear friend who know loves it too, but never pay full price 'cause when it's on sale really cheap ($2. or $3.) I buy several boxes.

The only place I ever find it at that price is @ Tuesday Morning's, but rarely get there anymore.

helou, Yes you are correct. I needed to first rip the boards from their original 4 inch width, down to about 3 inches to fit in the drawers. (or about 1 3/4 inched for the front section of the silverware drawer. Also once I had the boards the correct width, I needed to carefully cut the boards to length. Then to get the boards to the correct length a powered miter saw is the best option, but again depending on what tools you have available, maybe a hand-held circular saw and a speed square, or a miter box and a hand-held pull-saw. If you have a table saw, ripping the boards is trivially easy. If not there are probably a number of other ways to make the boards the correct width. (The easiest might be to find a friend with a table saw, and ply that friend with a bottle of wine, to cut them to width.) But you should also be able to do it with a straight-edge and a hand-held circular saw, or maybe even a straight-edge and a utility knife.

I LOVE my Cushy Cupboard liners. A bit more expensive but worth it and installation is easy. Installation tip that worked well for me...line the drawers with 8 1/2 x 11 colored paper making sure the edges are flush against all four sides of the drawer. Then tape together where the paper overlaps to use as a template. Tape the template to the liner and cut with a blade using a long metal straight edge as a guide. Be sure not to cut at an angle or you'll have a beveled edge. The colored paper helps to differentiate between the white liner and paper when cutting. I did this process separately for each drawer (even within the same drawer bank) because I found there are ever so slight variances between the drawers. Perfect fit every time.

Rueben mentions crooked cuts. For me, the answer is a T-square, which you can buy where they sell art supplies. The 36" long T-square is the most useful. I just line the "T" part up with the side of the paper, and draw my square line with a sharpie. I just put new cabinets during the remodel of my family home. I got molded (?) glass panels with a striking bamboo design in the upper cabinets. I saw light coming through one cabinet door before they were installed and thought the glass was even more beautiful with light behind it. I had low profile, strip LED lights installed in the top of each cabinet. But when I p ut the supplied wood shelves in, the shelves below were very dark. So I ordered some 3/8" thick plexiglas cut to size. I bought the clear shelf liner with the little grooves. Since it is clear, the light goes right through the shelves and the cabinets and glass look beautiful. I used the rubbery mesh liner for the bottom shelves. I'm having trouble, too. They bunch up and get out of place when I move anything. That's why I got onto this thread--to see if there's a good way to hold the stuff in place.

I've tried two kinds, the clear kind you can get in an enormous roll at Joann's fabric and the much-vaunted Cushy Cupboards from online. Cushy Cupboards are a lot easier to cut, I can say that. I got those for the drawers that would have pots and pans and plates and stuff like that so they wouldn't clank. I think, though, the soft-close feature and not stacking anything too high eliminates that rattle anyway. Try as I might, I could NOT get the clear plastic to look any good at the edges, where you can really see them. I also found that I like to slide things back into cupboards rather than placing them carefully there, probably because I'm short. With the liners, one can't do that. I bet something like marmoleum works great though! Might try that under the sink.

I discovered how pricey Crabtree & Evelyn is when my daughter gave me a set of three "hand therapy" creams as a gift.

My grandmother loved that stuff.
Maybe when you need more, or to stock up, try ebay. Some really good prices there.

I haven't had scented drawer liners in years. My daughter gets a lot of fashion magazines. Vogue, Glamour.Self,etc. Full of perfume ads with those "try it" strips. I pull them out of her magazines and put them in the drawers with my undies. A cotton ball with a few drops of a favorite perfume or cologne works the same. I am so cheap!

I love it too. Makes me feel special. When I moved in 2008 I put all new scented shelf paper in my drawers. Looks pretty, smells great and makes me feel special. ;)

Hope you aren't allergic to it.

I too buy my scented drawer liner from Tuesday Mornings and I can assure you it costs a lot less than $26. Probably a lot less than $10 even.

Never heard of such! No way could I use it- I would have a migraine just putting the clothes away! Hope you find it on sale soon.

No, don't think I'm allergic now. The scent isn't as strong when you walk into the bedroom today, and I thought the articles of clothing in the drawers would be highly scented - but they aren't.

You know what? I did think of Tuesday Mornings! We have a store in the area, but for some reason didn't bother to drive over there. Sometimes they have wonderful soap collections and such, sometimes they don't; so there may not be any liner paper. Agree, I should have checked there first.

I use rose scented soap (The Alaskan Soap Company's Sitka Rose) in my dresser drawers. Works well and I get to use the soap, too.

My MIL gave me a box. A friend at work complimented me on mu "Cologne." I had not idea the scent from the paper would transfer to the clothes enough that someone could smell it from four feet away. Actually made me feel guilty since so many people are allergic these days. I still have the paper and no one has said anything recently. Maybe the scent disapates after a while?
