Pros and Cons of Copper Cookware?
Comments (11)Many lines of copper cookware such as Mauviel, Bourgeat and Falk are available with stainless linings. Copper is a better conductor of heat than aluminum so it will heat more quickly and more evenly than All-Clad or Calphalon. Maintenence is as easy or as difficult as you want to make it. You can treat it like your grandmother's silver and spend endless hours polishing or you can treat it like All-Clad MC and just give it a quick going over with a scouring pad. In either case it looks fabulous. The only downside to copper cookware, IMHO, is the cost. (I'd like to see a reference to the caution about using copper on an electric smoothtop. It's hard to believe that stainless and aluminum are OK and copper isn't.)...See MoreCopper sink pros and cons
Comments (0)I'm looking at possibly using copper sinks instead of stainless. What are the pros and cons of sinks made with this material, and are there any special care issue/cleaning requirements of these sinks? Many thanks!...See MoreA copper sink, pros & cons!!!
Comments (2)We love, love, love our copper sink by Rachiele. We did a ton of research before investing. These sinks are made in the USA in Florida by a small custom company. The attention to detail is amazing. Most other companies have you dry the sink after each use. The properties of these sinks make them maintenance and worry free. Our sink is bullet proof. No maintenance and it looks amazing even after our teens have tried to abuse it. We could not be more pleased. The owner even wrote a personal note to us on the bottom of the sink. It is the jewel of our kitchen remodel. We have a large copper apron sink with a custom rustic patina on the apron. Even the plumber was impressed. He said he had installed plenty of apron sinks and had never seen such a well made sink. If you get the right copper sink it will be the easiest sink you have ever used. Comments (28)> New Question: if you go for the side drain, do you want the drain towards your dominant hand? Meaning, if you're right handed, do you want a sink with a right handed drain? And should a drain be on the side of the dishwasher? Or do these things not matter? I'm right-handed and prefer the drain in the left rear. That way, I can use my right hand to sweep food waste into the drain in a natural motion. The side the dishwasher is on is mostly irrelevant. Most of the undersink plumbing is from the disposer (which is directly under the drain), the hot and cold water valves and intake hoses, the drain, the retracted flex hose for hand sprays, and soap and instant-hot dispensers if you have them. The only dishwasher plumbing in the sink cabinet is a flexible hose leading from the dishwasher to the drain (via an air gap if you have one), which doesn't take up much space and can be fastened to the back wall of the cabinet, out of the way, and probably a thin copper tube leading from the hot water valve....See Morenerd
