Cream/Yellow with Beige -help!

We are building a custom home and get to select one color to be painted throughout the home. I didn't really want to do a beige color, but it seems like that neutral is going to be best in terms with matching various furniture.

I've heard a lot of good things about SW's Ivoire and Kilim Beige.

I'm going to be painting various rooms accent colors (dining room and half-balf= BM Santorini Blue, master bdrm= RH Silver Sage, etc.). My question is that I want my kitchen (with antique white cabinets and white oak natural floors) to have a creamy yellow color. More cream that yellow. My kitchen very much will open into my living room - which will presumably be painted a neutral. Will that look odd? I'm pretty set on wanting a creamy yellow kitchen - so how do I make this work? Is there a color that would match w/ an Ivoire or Kilim Beige that is on the yellowish side? I feel like having a yellow and a brown next to each other will look funny.

Or better yet, is there a good creamy neutral paint that I could pair with a yellow? If it means anything, we have to choose Sherwin Williams paint, but I know they can color match.

In other words, I'm open to suggestions!

If I were building a custom home, the first thing I'd do would be to hire a good color consultant.

You're dealing with two tricky colors there, both the combo and the colors, themselves. So much depends on the light orientation.

In some people's homes, Kilim is the perfect neutral, but in other's it can lean pink or green. Now, I happen to have Ivoire in a good portion of my own home. Love it, but in lower light settings it can read pretty yellow (very subtle yellow, but yellow all the same). If you just paint a bit on the wall it will seem beige, but IRL, when on all four walls, the yellow magnifies.

The other part of your question, about mixing beige and creamy yellow, just screams for a pro's advice. That is one of the toughest combos to do correctly.

For the record, I have seen Ivoire used in the kitchen setting you describe. It looked lovely.

Hello there. Color consultant to the rescue... :) I am a big fan of kilim beige! I think a buttery cream in the kitchen would work just fine with the beige. I would suggest BM HC-3 Greenmount Silk or HC-5 Weston Flax. Hope this helps!

Never mind. I already looked at samples first hand (I had planned to anyway, but was looking for advice). I decided to go with American Paver Systems (APS) coping in Cream color. Looks good. The Flagstone Paver (FP) coping in Sand was way too dark once seen in person. And the FP cream was a tad darker than APS' cream. Just sharing. -Gorilla

Thank u for weighing in! It looks like the Wheeling Neutral is not going to work after all as it goes darker than I was hoping so looking at Sandy Brown. It's a tad darker than the Powell Buff and has a little more richness to it. Powell Buff is my favorite but needs to be a tad darker.

That's the Ivoire in my LR and DR. It is definitely to the warm side of neutral.

The Kilim Beige is the color that is below the upstairs railing...the darker one.

Your lighting and other surroundings will determine if the Kilim will keep beige or go pink or green.

I think BM Shaker Biege is a beautiful neutral color, I live near a neighborhood of new million dollar homes and this is the color they painted the interiors and it is beautiful. I just painted a room BM Edgecomb Gray this morning and I love it. In spite of it's name it is not gray, but warm biege. I put it in a bedroom, but was thinking how pretty it would be throughout an entire house. Greenmount Silk is a beautiful color, but somewhat funny. Looks very different depending on the light.
