I'm thinking of brown and blue for our BDR too and want to do a chair rail---brown on bottom, light blue on top.

I like SW's "Stream" and "Java." And, yes, white trim.

Sounds like DD has good taste. I think brown and blue would look lovely together. I would also do a chair rail, brown on the bottom, blue on top, ivory white ceiling and trim. Then of course she will need new bedding...

I did a light and dark color in my daughter's room and opted to do a dropped molding about a foot from the ceiling (a few inches below the tops of the windows) with the darker color above and the lighter one below. That was a nice look too.

I am also considering doing brown and blue in our new home. I want to paint the master bath a chocloate brown and then the master bedroom in a light blue. But I may now consider doing the bedroom with both colors separated by the chair rail. I haven't selected my colors yet, but I'm going to take a look at Java and Stream. I'm also considering doing my living room in choclate brown. I just joined this site today and love it already.

i really want to do the teal and blue bedroom idea too---however, i can't find bedding that i like, and i really like duvet covers rather than comforters.

any suggestions? let me know! :)

Lucky you, I've been trying to talk my daughter into brown/blue or brown/pink and no go!
I did a chocolate brown ceiling in my family room 2 years ago and love it. I got the idea from a showhouse, they did a room with robin's egg blue walls, white trim with crown moulding and a chocolate brown ceiling, it was stunning.

I saw this bedroom a few months ago in a showhouse and wanted to duplicate the wall color...It looked beautiful...the style might not be youthful enough for your daughter, though, the wall color might be what you are looking for....anyone have any suggestions for a wall color that might match this look?

I too am looking into a chocolate brown and light blue bedroom. I'm 18 and when we moved into our house I was 7 years old and my bedroom was Winnie the Pooh (and Tigger too). At the age of 10 we redecorated with a green yellow and blue theme. My Mom said I could redecorate again at age 15. Well we started looking for ideas around my 16th birthday party and I didn't find anything so we decided to leave it alone. By the time I was 17 I was sick of it. We started looking again. But before we could begin my Father became very ill and passed away and our redecorating plans were put on hold. Now that he's gone, we have the time. My best friend suggested brown and blue. I found my comforter set at TJ MAXX and found an iron bed at JC PENNEY. My plans for the walls are pretty simple. Solid colors with 2 brown walls and 2 blue walls. I want the walls that are solid to be brown and the walls that have something in then, like a door...or a window, to be blue. My head of my bed will be on the wall with the window and it should REALLY pop off of that blue wall. And then I want a stripe of the opposite color running along the top of the walls like a border....

I'm so excited I cannot wait!!! I'll post before and after pics for everyone!
