Well munkos I'm guilty of posting too much too!! I love it, your right it gives me a chance to talk about my babies 24-7!! They are my life (besides my family and husband)

The story that pops into my mind first is something that happened just 3 days ago. I have sooooo many stories so I have to limit it... well as you all know I have a new boxer puppy & 4 cats & an adult boxer also my mom has 1 cat & 1 boxer puppy (the sister to my puppy male). Well mom and I went out the other night shopping and the little ones couldn't go with us so we left them both at my house with the TV on, lights on, plus the cats were there for company and someone to play with. We let them outside potty before we left and we figured that we were going to treat ourselves by shopping so we will treat them by not putting them in a kennel. WRONG THING TO DO!!!!!!!!! Well, when we got home to my house, I unlocked my door and opened it... it was dark!!! Not a light on!! I got instantly scared thinking something was very bag wrong...well after walking in and flipping a couple switches, I saw the room that used to be my living room!!!!!! Well my lamp on the end table next to my big couch was knocked over, light bulb broken, poop and pee all over my floor, toys everywhere, their leashes were drug all throughout the house with yucky stuff on them!!! IT WAS BAD!!! When I opened the door my first thought was panic, then relizing what happened, I couldn't quit laughing!!! After cleaning everything up, mom and I were sitting on the couch thinking about this...well neither one of our pups can get on the couch yet which means that they had to be chasing the cats all throughout the house till they jumped up on the end table, knocked the lamp off, broke the bulb, and the pups probably got so scared of the noise that they probably ran away!!! lol lol Gosh, I still laugh about it. Mom kept saying, Gosh I wish we had a nanny cam hooked up!! That would have been priceless!!! lol lol Well that's my first story! Hope you all get a good laugh like I did and still do.

My favorite funny memory of our cat is from when he was a kitten.

A beautiful Sunday morning and my husband and I were just laying in bed.Our cat,then about a 8 month old kitten,was for some reason spazzing from one window to the next.Probably hunting a squirrel or something.

So,we're laying there,and the cat comes barreling into the room,trys to jump up on the window sill.
Instead he jumps through the loop of the blinds and gets stuck in it.
The blinds of course roll all the way up and the cat is just hanging by his butt from the loop of the string.
We never laughed so hard! Wasnt what we expected to see when we first woke up that's for sure.

I've got a few, but you probably would have had to be there :)
We had a cocker spaniel, Buffy, that was in our back yard. I was with her but she wasn't leashed & normally very well behaved. She spotted a bunny by the neighbor's shed & off she went. The bunny lit out & ran around the shed, came out on one side, and waited. A couple of minutes later, here comes Buffy, sniffing the ground tracking the bunny. Spots bunny & gives chase. Again, bunny runs around shed, stops in same spot, waits. Repeated several times. Bunny tires of game & runs across yard thru fence. Poor Buffy had never had contact with a fence, SMACK, right into that fence. It tossed here back, she shook her head a bit, then started to go around after the bunny, where I caught up with her.
We had a HUGE calico, Grace, who felt it was her job to put dogs in their place. Young friendly dog came into our yard, saw Grace. You could see the light bulb go off, CAT CHASE! Grace backed him down quick, the expression on his face was so funny, but you had to be there for that.
Last one: new kitten I had just found. She followed me out across the yard, & our chow spotted her. He had enough experience with Grace that he knew about cats, & really would never hurt a cat, but if a cat runs, they are really fun to chase. So here he comes running. Kitten apparently if familiar with dogs & just sat down. Dog wasn't expecting that, couldn't stop in time & tripped over the cat. Dog does a complete sumersault in air, one confused looking dog when he came to the ground :)

This is from when I was younger:

Lucky( a medium sized sooner I found in the woods as pup) was in the neighbors back yard walking around. I was in our backyard watching her. This was the good ole days when this type thing didn't matter, and everyone loved Lucky anyway. So there she is just walking around then all of a sudden she gets this funny look, darts off back to our yard and I mean in a hurry, runs next to me...poots real loud, then craps, then drags her butt on the ground, then back to normal. I bout' died right there in our yard. Funniest thing I ever remember seeing a dog do.

Monty is 11 1/2 and needs to empty his bladder on a very precise schedule. After a meal he has about a one hour window of opportunity or there will be wet bedding in the crate :-(

In early December I needed to leave the house early on a Saturday morning to pick up a new foster from a haul. My three guys were all settled in their crates with breaky as I left. I suspected there might be an accident, but not much I could do. When I returned 3 hours later, the food bowl in Monty's crate held an inch of urine. There were only a few drops on his place mat and the bedding was dry. Hmmm. All of my dogs are brilliant of course,(not), but was this a concept his pointy head had really figured out? Pee in bowl = dry crate, or was this just a happy accident?

3 Saturday's later I was busy trying to burn down the house with the garbage disposal and the dogs got to stay in their crates for 2 hours after breakfast while I dealt with that. (I needed a new garbage disposal, but not a new house thank you.) When I decided things were safe, I let them all out of their crates, and there in Monty's bowl, with not even one drop on the bedding was an inch of pee :-)

So, it's not an accident, he has invented the concept of the 'crate toilet'! Perhaps I should start feeding him in the bathroom, he's about the right height for the toilet. What a good boy. So now I leave a stainless steel bowl in his crate if I have to be out of the house for too long. :-)

One funny story, not mine:

Some people met at the Border Collie trials, & became friends.

They had a barbeque at somebody's house one week-end, brought the dogs, brought the kids, chatted.

Suddenly they heard shrieking & screeching & squalling from outdoors, & all the adults dropped what they were doing & raced outside to do battle with whatever was after their little ones.

The dogs had herded the children into a tight little circle & wouldn't let them out!

ok - now you have done it! lol! My favorite is about our old cat Smokey. He is around 14 years old now. Years ago we decided to put carpet in the kids bedrooms. It was an old floor, so my husband decided to put a subfloor down. Smokey is the kind that has to be right there watching everything, kinda inspecting it. There was an old grate in the floor that had to go. My hubby took out the grate, went downstairs to cut a piece a wood to fit, and came up and nailed it in. It looked great!!! Then I went downstairs to our bedroom. I could hear Smokey crying. It was up above me. I thought - oh great. He is caught in some of the equipment or something upstairs. Went up there to hear him from below...he had crawled into the floor before my husband nailed the new subfloor down. We had to go into the attic, open up the wall and try to get him out. My hubby was trying to be "nice",but I and the cat could hear the tone of his voice. It took the kids with a can of his favorite cat food to get him out. I wouldn't have came out to my hubby either if I was him! lol!!!

I took in a choc. lab when he was about 1.5 yrs old. Jackson LOVES to ride in the car. Any car door that was open or the window half down, he was in for the ride. We lived in a rural area and the USPS would bring large items to our door. She gets out of her car, brings the parcel, chit chats for a minute and goes on her route. In about 5 minutes she came back, seems like Jackson got in the back seat of her car. She never saw him until she got about 1 mile away and he popped up over the seat and laid his head on her shoulder. She said she about messed her britches but she still chuckles about it. (she always checks her car when she leaves our house now)

We trained our male mastiff Sebastien (200 lbs.) to protect the barn cats (wee things, maybe 8 lbs. each), and they all became fast friends. They would run to him, purring, wrap themselves around his legs, lie on his head, etc. In return he'd lick them until they looked like wet rags. Then they'd march around the yard together, Sebastien first, then the family of cats, oldest to youngest.

We also had a beagle mutt, Max (50 lbs.), who hated the cats and despite everything we did would chase them if we weren't watching him and try to kill them if he caught them. Once Sebastien became their friend and champion, however, the tables were turned -- the cats learned to tease Max mercilessly and always got him to chase them. They'd dash towards Sebastien and hide under his body. Max was so instinct-driven that he would race after them, only to come to a screeching halt in front of an irate 200-lb mastiff, who always looked at him as if to say, "Come one inch closer and you'll really regret it, bud." My husband and I used to laugh so hard we'd almost fall down -- this scenario was repeated quite often and Max never learned. Wish we'd had a video camera.

FWIW, the cats only played these tricks on Max when they saw Sebastien in the yard too. Otherwise, they circumspectly stayed in the barn or close to it.

Saturday I was helping my friend clean his house and he was taking my dog to put him in my car. I was talking to somebody else. He came back with my dog and said the dog would not get in till I got in. It was the wrong car! My dog knew better than he did! I thought it was funny. Another time my friends parakeet forced my dog into the bathtub. My dog had his nose stuck in the corner when the parakeet would flap his wings if he turned his head back around. For a long time my dog did not like to go to that house. Now my dog is bigger so my friend has to keep the bird in the cage when we go there. Monday I took my dog to the Vets and he kept licking the fish aqaurium when a fish would swim up close. I had to keep wiping the glass off with my sleeve and everybody kept laughing. He was very interested in the fish.

One of our departed pets was an 8 lb terrier mix. She was fine with my husband and me but wasn't always friendly with others.
I remember the time I took her to a kennel for an overnight stay and what happened when I picked her up.

There were other people with their pets in the waiting area. These other dogs were large and ranged from rottweilers, shepherds to beagles.

When it was my turn to get my dog, I gave my name and waited for Scruffy to be brought out. I heard a commotion from the back as though there was a struggle going on.

The attendant came out and announced that the personnel could not handle or control my dog and that I would have to go back and get her myself. You should have seen the look of alarm on these other clients' faces as they held their dogs protectively close to them in anticipation of the "wild beast" I was going to bring out.

The looks on their faces changed from fear to amusement as I walked out with this 8 lb terrier calmly walking out on the end of a thin leash. And this was the terror that was asked never to come back again.

My funniest storys will always come from DD,s cat Flash,a soul mate of your Resin. My DD has a garden bathtub in her bedroom than a kingsize bed, than an open space through the rest of the bedroom,kitchen and living rooms that ends at a recliner where the other cat Spaz sleeps.

Flash has a bad habit of jumping on the back of the chair,jumping on Spaz,hitting the floor,running like mad through the house,jumping the bed in 2 leaps then into the tub. Doing this anytime during the night.
One night DD could'nt sleep and decided to take a bath. She had run abt a fourth of the tub in warm water and gone to the other end of the house for something. She came out to see Flash start his wild run. He hit the tub jumped straight up and out looking like a wet dishrag.
We laughed off and on for a week,just about how long it took Flash to start his regular run into the bathtub again.
We're always laughing at Flash because he always asks for all the mishaps he has and no one has to do a thing to him.

Mona: your vet story reminded me of years ago: I had a Siberian husky named Nikki. She was absolutely fearless. Much to my surprise, most other dogs hated her. She was very very smart.
One day, I took her to the vet for something. Had her on a leash. Stuck my head in the door first to see how crowded the waiting room was. Turned to her and said very loud, Now you behave yourself! Walked in with her on a tight leash. Everyone grabbed their dogs.
One woman had a tiny Chihauhua (sp?) on her lap. The poor thing took one look at Nikki, closed it's eyes and shivered nonstop!
Across the room there was a big farm dog in, recovering from a car accident. He got really riled over Nikki, stood up, barking loudly. The people shushed him. Nikki sat down quietly next to me and began staring, unblinking at the farm dog. He was twice her size. She never took her eyes off him. After awhile, he got really nervous. Kept looking away, kept sneaking looks back at her. All the time we waited, she never took her eyes off him; after awhile, you could see the poor thing was a basket case.
I was so relieved when the vet called us into the examining room. - Ellen

That story about monty peeing in the bowl reminds me of what beasley does when he has to throw up in the car. See he gets extremely anxious and throws up in the car at times that are almost predictable and nothing has put an end to this so I cut the ends off the soda cartons so there is a small open ended box and I put a couple of those in the kennel in the back seat. Over the summer we had a real long drive to do and he did fine all day and I kept giving him ginger snaps thinking that was doing something to prevent him from throwing up. Well EEERRRRRR. Wrong. It definitely delayed it he tossed his cookies later that evening something fierce but the funny thing is he did it in the little boxes without me even telling him to do it in there. Which was such a relief because hosing out a barf-filled kennel while your on the road is really a big pain.

I've mentioned this other story a hundred times already but one day we were at an off leash park and towards the back of the dog park this is this hill. Well there was a very large woman there on the hill, all by herself, bending over. Think: largest of large opera singers bending over. Being that this was atop a hill, you know people were starting to notice wow there's a -you know- large woman there bending over in brightly colored pants for quite a while as she picked up her belongings. Beasley, being quite the opportunist ran up to her behind and gave it a... woah sniff sniff sniffaroo... I was kind of mortified at that point because I didn't want to embarass the woman seeing as how there were people chuckling off in the distance. I was whispering for him to come back to me and he did and thankfully the woman didn't turn around because if she did, she'd see a whole bunch of people looking and laughing.

And no, it still would have been funny if it was a skinny person, the extra size just made it more noticeable.

This one goes way back to when our Poppy - a cockapoo was just a puppy. She was digging in the dry dirt, more like sand, in the back yard that we shared with the other military family in our duplex. Their little boy was about 3 when he came in one day crying. he said, " Poppy poured dirt in my pants." Obviously, Poppy's share of the flying dirt ended up in Eric's pants as he was digging with his back to her. The look on his face said alot more, like "I shouldn't get in trouble, she should."

Hah! I just remembered another one after reading Vicki's. I had a cat when we lived in a trailor years ago. The cat would use up its energy by running thru the trailor, a straight shot. Start in the kitchen, leap on end table, on couch, on other end table, down the hall, on hamper sitting in the hall, then my night stand, ending on the bed, all at top speed. You could always hear her coming, sounded like a herd of cats in that trailor, but I was so used to it I really didn't pay too much attention, just couldn't keep too much clutter on the tables :) I always like to read in bed, & I heard her start her race, but I was reading & not really paying attention. I vaguely noticed that she didn't make it to the bed, but about the time I realized that I heard this pitiful howl. Someone had left the hamper lid up, & she had caught herself on the top, each foot was at each corner of the hamper & she was so stretched out, she couldn't figure out how to get down without falling :)

Just after the events of 9/11 I had to return back to the USA from my new home in Canada. When I drove up to the check point there were all these big fearsome Marines armed to the hilt. I pulled up to the booth to hand over my passport and my Maltese Daffy politely marched right over my lap and out the window into the arms of this Marine who was guarding the border guard. You could see in his eyes he was delighted but given the gravity of the situation he struggled to maintain his fierce soldier look. Right about that time a photographer who was covering the troops at the border took his picture and took Daffy's name etc. You could almost see the Marine dying a slow death of embarrassment knowing he was going to be teased for holding onto a little fluffy, be-ribboned pup who was quite happily snuggled in. It makes me smile and chuckle every time I think of it.

Severalyears ago, my son brought home a kitten from a litter that was abandoned at the supermarket where he works. Our first kitty! Riley turned into Mr Cat-itude with a short fuse and a Napolean complex. He ruled around here.
When he was about 2 yrs old, once extremely cold winter, we took in a stray starving kitten, bag of bones. Couldn't be more than 6 months old at the most. Well, Riley was hot!!! He hated the intrusion. Swore and hissed at her. When we eventually put them together, he tormented her. We caught him one day dipping his paw in the water bowl and flicking water in her face. Allie never retalitated. Was quiet and accepted it all.
But Allie made up for lost time: she ate and ate and ate. Grew to be bigger than Riley.
I watched her one day sitting on the kitchen table as he walked by: she stuck out her paw and caught his leg and tripped him. He turned on her in a rage: they began wrestling. She extended her front legs out stiffly and held him @ bay. All while beating on him with her hind legs.!!!
If there's a choice morsel in the food bowl now, she swats him out of the way. Payback time!!!!
He still grumps around her, but she gets him everytime!-Ellen

I have a nine month old shih-tzu ( Sassy)
at times i lean over the bathtub to wash my hair. She crawls up on my back and edges up over my shoulder a little so she can drink out of the sprayer. The first
time she did this i was laughing so hard DH came to see what was going on. He said, that was quite a sight with my back side sticking out and dog on shoulders drinking. I have to shut bathroom door to stop her from doing this.

What funny stories! Two of my personal favorites involve my cat. When she first adopted me, I was single and living in a "no cats allowed" apartment building. For obvious reasons, I wanted to keep her a secret. She, however, invented what she thought was a very fun game. When I would come home from work or wherever, she would make a break for the door to "escape." Once out of the door, she would run like crazy to the door at the end of the hall that led to the outside. Then she would wait for me to run after her, dodge me and then run as fast as she could back to my apartment. This game used to drive me crazy. One day, tho, she took off as per usual. Just as she reached the outer door, it opened and a person who lived down the hall came in. Scared my kitty half to death! She ran as fast as she could to me, crying all the way. Never bolted out the door again.

My other memory is when we brought our 1st sheltie home. Same cat, now 12 years of spoiling later, had become quite used to being the "only." Dogs had come to visit before, but always with someone else and she never really minded, as long as they left her alone. This was different and she knew it instantly! She was lying on the couch and as soon as she saw the dog, she arched up, started screaming and hopped sideways across the living room floor. Scared our poor sheltie . . . and us . . . half to death! 5 years and another sheltie later she's quite used to the idea of sharing her house. She's still the queen bee and never lets them forget it.

When the cat threw up in my husband's very stinky shoes.

I guess she smelled them and they turned her stomach!!

Our Our Schnauzer/Lhasa mix, Snuffy, was always a one person dog. She attached herself to my DH after each one of the kids moved out of the house. She was never 'my' dog even though I was a stay at home mom and the one who did everything for her.

When Snuffy was 7, she was diagnosed with diabetes. Since I was the one at home, I was the one to give the insulin shots to her each morning. At shot time she would obediently position herself between my legs and let me inject her, but immediately after the dirty deed, she would quickly turn and gently bite my hand. Just letting me know that she was in charge.

After about 3 weeks of me being the shot giver, DH happened to be home at the right time and I thought it time he learned to do it. Snuff dutifully lined herself up at DH's legs when told, waited till the injection was completed, then slowly walked 10 feet across the room and and gave me her usual 'take that' bite. She lived to age 13 and all those years anytime Dh gave her the shot, she always blamed me with her little bite.

OHHHHH my gosh gazania, that is so funny!! I have 2 boxers and 4 cats so I have had my fair share of funny stories but I think yours tops them all. lol

What does DH stand for?? Sorry guys, I just joined here in 2006 and I don't understand all the slang yet. I saw another one too, let me remember... FWIW, what is that also?? Any others I should know about??

Great stories! I love to hear about other's animal antics.
My favorite memory is of my grandmother's little poodle chasing off a doberman. When she first took off after it, I thought she'd be in trouble, but that doberman ran away from her and would've had his tail between his legs if he could've. It was so funny.

Rather: that reminds me of when I was a kid! A guy down the road owned a Siamese cat. Beautiful animal. The thing feared no one. It used to sit on its front porch like "bait", enticing the local dogs to chase it. Then it would tear into them. Funniest thing I ever saw was a huge German Shepherd, racing down the road in fear with that danged cat hot on his heels!!! - Ellen
