Porcelain tiles that look like wood
Comments (52)You have a few more problems than some missing tiles. When trenching such as yours, the exposed sides of the old slab should have been drilled and pegged with rebar from one side to the other to help reduce the chance one side will rise or fall different than the other. Was this done in your case? If there is no rebar, the edges of the slab will need to be treated as a cold joint in which case you'd need a grout joint / expansion joint above each side of the trench. Then comes the need to remove more tiles in order to install a crack isolation membrane (or similar) to reduce the chance of in plane movement in the future. This will make for some ugly grout joints. Can I interest you in some nice carpeting?...See MoreCeramic tile that looks like wood?
Comments (3)Try Porcelansa. We have their natural tile wood-like floor - Roble I thnk is the style. We used 2 different widths alternating them. I can try to take pictures but in the meantime I've included a link to their catalog. They are expensive but I think the most realistic. If you decide to go with it, make sure you have an installer that has good experience with this type of tile. If anyone tries to tell you it is like any other tile installation, I think they are wrong. Comments (12)A real wood butcher block top would look a LOT better. It's not only the grout lines, although that's a biggie. It would just look, well, "college dorm apartment", without the inexpensiveness of it. You can be creative on a budget, but sometimes thinking outside the box needs to stay outside the box if you want a certain look. If you're doing the tiling, it might end up being as expensive as a nice Boos butcher block. (A lot more than Ikea) If you have to pay to have it tiled, granite slab would be cheaper. You could even do a simple stained plywood top with real wood edging for a fraction of the tile and have a nice looking counter until your budget recovered to get the one you really want....See MoreHardwood vs Tile that looks like wood
Comments (2)I too am considering wood looking tile. We are finishing our basement (dry) and had decided on Pergo Max Premier (12mm) as I hate the clicking when walking on it. Now I'm having 2nd thoughts. I'm just now checking into the wood tile and would like to hear from anyone familiar with that product....See Moretinker_2006
