Best place to find woven/wood blinds? Do I need to match rooms?

We really like the look of the woven blinds/bamboo blinds. I see them at HD and Lowes, but am wondering if there is some hidden gem of a place or site that we can get them at great prices? We have a whole house to do, any $ saved will be useful!

AND... I feel quite strongly about matching the adjoining rooms... kitchen, dining, living. BUT, upstairs... is it odd to do individual treatments that may not be identical to each other in the kids rooms?

Upstairs rooms can be different.

I got mine from American Blinds and Wallpaper years ago. Google for a coupon - they have lots. Not sure if they are cheaper but I purchased the M & B blinds in Bamboo Harvest which were exactly the same ones my sister bought through her decorator in Charlotte for much much less. They look great and were easy to install.

As far as using them in kids rooms, they might not be the best choice. Mine are fixed on the windows (just took the strings, wrapped them and tucked them under the valance when they were pulled to the right height), but they aren't the easiest to move up and down (they get crooked and it takes some fiddling to get them straight). They also aren't great for light control and in my personal opinion aren't particularly attractive when let down (that is why you always see them in magazines at a fixed height!)

Just something to think about!

I bought my wood blinds from Overstock.com. Got good price and they are beautiful. They also have woven blinds.

Thanks everyone! I found a bunch of places online, took many of your suggestions, and sent out a list of what we needed and pictures. Of about 10 sent out, I got four responses. Two were RIDICULOUSLY priced (over 2K for just the trim in our kitchen). I also have a local lumberyard that can do it--I have a piece of the baseboard off, which helps in getting the knives made. The casing is exactly the same, except coved on two sides instead of one. The rosettes would be hand done on a laithe. But their price for just the trim and not the rosettes was about $1050. So far, the cheapest and easiest to work with has been through Jim Illingsworth near Watertown, NY. It's about a 3 hour drive for us--which, in my husband's Silverado, would mean about $50 in gas...but would save us about $150-200 in shipping, depending on how much we're getting. I'm probably going to go with them, unless I can get the local yard to match their price, but I doubt it. If anyone's interested, here's their link. I haven't gotten anything done from them yet, so I can't vouch for their quality, but it seems like the company's pretty decent from what I've read online. Anyone ever heard of them? Hi DM! Here's our floorplan to give you an idea of where some of our FDs are. As you can see the front/main entry opens up to the Gentlemans Parlor. I have lace panels on the front door and it's sidelites like this... They are actually 84 inch length tab top "macrame" panels that I wove through the lace with the bottom rod giving the flounce and ruffle at the bottom or they would have been too long. It worked and I loved it. What you can't see is the frosted contact paper through it. Here's a terrible shot of the door, but you can see the sidelites with the contact paper. It looks much better in person. I took it at night with a flash making it looks shiney, which it's not. This was a temporary treatment when we first moved in. Just a long piece of semi sheer fabric wrapped around the rods and tied in a knot. If I wanted more light I clipped the back part of the fabric behind the knot. Cost less than three dollars with dollar fabric found at Wal Mart while they still had fabric. Here's a close up of the panels I have in the Gentlemans Parlor and the shades that are at the moment the photo was taken inside their housing, which will be painted to match the rod when I have time. As you can see they don't match the main entry window in any way. Oh the walls will be painted to match the curtains when the weather keeps us from work outside. The color there now was to be a basecoat for a faux finish my hubby changed his mind about. The sunroom FDs looked similar to the original temp front door treatment... But will possibly look like this next photo/drawing if I have enough fabric left after making six 90inch panels for the five window across the back of the sunroom. They are button up Roman style shades. As you can see by the above pictures, well other than our home isn't finished yet, that I don't think all the french doors need to be treated in the same way. Though we'll probably find a way to add sliding french/glassed doors between the GP and sunroom because the colors do not blend. Do you have photos or floor plan drawings of how these two sets of french doors set in your home?

I did order about 80 bucks worth of T-moldings from slk230red's link. They only take checks or money orders -- red flag there-- but I will withhold judgement until I hear from them and see if they will deliver. When I first started my own business I couldn't take credit cards for a while until I built up revenues so I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt, up to a point. If it's a scam I will order some close-but-not-perfect-match T-mold from HD or elsewhere. My flooring guy says he can make it work either way. Thanks all for the guidance.

I can't answer your question regarding what the OP did, amn4783, but it's more important to have the window treatments inside the room be compatible than thinking about the outside. If you want woven wood shades in the dining room, do them on all the windows, but use a white privacy liner. That way your interior is cohesive, but so is the outside since from the outside you see white on all the windows.

I bought some of mine through Hunter Douglas, the Provenance line, for those that I needed black out liner, and a solid lift mechanism. These were pretty expensive...approx $400 a blind. The Hunter Douglas blinds are for a bedroom/bathroom that face the street.

For those in the Dining room, I don't plan to lift the blinds much; they are mostly for texture...I bought them at Bed, Bath and Beyond. $40 a blind...haven't installed them yet but I really like the looks of them.

American Blinds and Blinds.com both have very good prices. Are the ones at HD or Lowes in stock or custom order? In stock they may be able to cut the width but your stuck with whatever lenght it is.

Forget about upstairs. No it's not odd to do different treatments upstairs in different bedrooms. It's very common to see colors based on the the decor of kids rooms.Might want to think about light blocking in the BR's Just be careful about the cords, depending on your childs age they will pose a hazard.
