Which brush for CC paint?
Comments (4)Personally, I use Purdy's XL Dale (about $12 at HD). Love that line, easy to hold and maneuver, has served me well with CC and all paints. Kept clean, it will last through many, many jobs. I keep an angle and a flat on hand all the time. Be sure to try holding them as if you were painting, see how it feels to you. There is another Purdy style HD carries that I can't even comfortably hold and 'air' paint in the store, LOL! Also, Michael recommended a brush to me for self-leveling enamels, but I haven't had opportunity arise yet to try it. I saved the name but can't readily find it this morning. (I do remember it started with an "E". Maybe he'll see this and offer his .02 ;) Here is a link that might be useful: Purdy XL Dale...See MoreWhat's best way to store brushes?
Comments (9)I have some very expensive art brushes for paintings (not walls) and I store those bristle end up (resting on the point of the handle) in a tupperware container that's actually for storing pasta. Works perfectly, and smaller paint brushes (1" - 2" brushes) would probably fit. You could get a larger size container for bigger brushes. My wall brushes I store on their sides (always) in a box or clear container. If you had the space tho, no reason why they couldn't hang. Would avoid dropping them in a coffee can and walking away like I've seen DH do. *rolleyes* ;-) A tip I learned to keep bristles in shape: after you've washed, put a dab of hair conditioner or ivory bar soap on them, work in lightly, then place bristles between index and middle finger, squeeze from base to tip. When you get to the tip pinch really tightly to reshape. Set on a sink on their side to dry. Retains shape well that way. Just rinse out before next use....See MoreWhat brush to use with Ace Cabinet paint???
Comments (20)forboystoo - Still putting off my painting, hopefully get to it Wednesday, but the idea behind the roll & brush technique is to quickly apply the paint (thus the roller) but brushing so the roller won't leave an orange peel finish. In theory, it's fast. In practice...we'll see! As for foam rollers...supposedly better quality foam produces better results. I have a Whizz roller I ordered through my Ace because I was contemplating painting my countertops, and that's the brand of roller that was recommended for the Rustoleum countertop paint. I think rollers get discussed less because while there is a difference in quality, it's a less pronounced difference from a good roller to a bad roller than from a $2 brush and a $20 brush. Whenever I get around to finishing my paint project, I'll let you know how it worked out!...See MoreCabinet Paint - Acrylic vs Oil vs Lacquer
Comments (4)We had ours done a year ago. I had them brushed with oil base BM as I wanted the historic look of the brush in the paint. It is very subtle. I love the way they came out and they have held up great so far, I just wipe them with a dishcloth and soapy water. Hope this helps, caroline...See MoreFaron79
