First, I'll say if someone can find "Brushed Nickel" and "Satin Nickel" in the same brand, it would be me. I've fallen IN LOVE with American Standard "Portsmouth" line. And noticed our bathroom remodel cost climbing up up up. So I decided to forgo the high end shower head and go with a less expensive one since all the hardware that's under the wall will be the good stuff. Then in a years time (or whenever the bottom line head craps out) we'll be lined up to replace with the more expensive stuff. And what do I realize in the "online check-out?!" It's BRUSHED NICKEL!! Ugh!! Darn you American Standard!! Now, not sure what I'll do. Probably bite the bullet and buy the good stuff next paycheck. Second, I read the thread mentioned above: brushed or satin nickel and was falling asleep in the beginning. But about half way in I started cracking up!! Too funny. Still haven't got my question answered though *Sigh*.

It can be sprayed. However, the results depend on professional application and the correct spray tip. What method of spray? USING SPRAY EQUIPMENT TO APPLY - If you are an adventuresome homeowner, you may wish to spray paint your cabinets. For the least messy approach, we recommend the use of an H.V.L.P. (High Volume Low Pressure) Spray System. Some paint dealers may rent this equipment to you. The H.V.L.P. uses high volumes of low pressure air to atomize the paint. It has the advantage of producing very little overspray, so you wonÂt be standing in a fog of paint as you work. However, to avoid costly problems, take your doors and drawers outside for painting. Also take the time to mask or cover all surfaces that you donÂt want painted. We found that thinning the paint with not more than 8 ounces of water per gallon worked best. We used the number 12 air cap and needle. The best spray pattern is a circular one, which was produced by using the oscillating setting. Keep the spray gun moving so that you donÂt build up a heavy coat in one spot. If you start to get drips, try two thin coats. Pay close attention to the operating instructions of the spray equipment manufacturer. Wear goggles to protect your eyes and a carbon filter paint respirator to avoid breathing in the paint particles. We were also successful in using the Wagner 225 Power Painter, thinning again to no more than 8 ounces of water per gallon of paint. Two thin coats applied 2 minutes apart worked better than 1 heavy coat. Just allow the first coat to get tacky. This equipment does produce a substantial cloud of overspray. You will need to take the parts to be sprayed out of doors or mask off the area where the spraying is being carried out. The safety instructions for the HVLP also apply here - wear goggles and respirator. Drying Time - At 77° F and 50% relative humidity, allow 1 hour for the paint to dry to the touch. Allow 6 hours between coats. Michael

hi all thanks for your suggestions. and sorry for not uploading photo - new to site - having trouble. any other suggestions that are not gray, but would complement the gray in the carrara? i will definitely check out those two BM colors but hoping for a few more non-grays options before getting samples today. thanks! also polished nickel vs satin nickel hardware? advice? i thought i would hate polished and love satin...at least in the store i did. but now against the white cabinets which seems bright with nothing else in the kitchen, the satin feels flat. oh and the carrara is honed....and i haven't decided on a backsplash either so suggestions there are very welcome as well...love marble mosiacs but also need to be cost-senstive. debating about white ceramic subway but feel i need a bit more depth. thanks!
