"What colors go well with BM Palladian Blue???"

According to the BM website:
1239 rural earth
1030 brandy cream

-and-

2120-30 witching hour
204 woodmont cream

Where would you be using the second color? I love Palladian blue and find it extremely pleasing and restful.

Palladian blue will look grand. I think it's great with sand, cream or pale gold.

If you put Palladian Blue in Google search, click images, you will see it used with golds and reds and greens, and a warm Whole Wheat looking color. The photo you show from a Hal Williamson bedroom is a small part of the wall above the bed that I've saved because I love the way he useds greens and reds with this blue wall color. Did you see the whole bedroom photo?

Your questions...

#1. It won't clash with Whole Wheat. You may not want that much contrast, but again, if you view the images as I outlined before, you can even see a PB room coming off a yellow room.

2#. It won't clash with the other colors either. And they are DOWNSTAIRS. Your bedroom is UPSTAIRS. I realize that you will see into the bedroom as you climb the stairs, but I think it will be a wonderful surprise......

3#. No. You are not overthinking. Painting a big bedroom is a big undertaking and you also plan to buy new bedding, which is more money. You NEED to think about it. But you may be worrying about the wrong thing. If you want to walk into one of those lovely blue bedrooms like I see in the pictures and you find a toile that you love, I don't think you will be looking over your shoulder to see how the Whole Wheat feels about the Whole Thing.

Get a sample already. (I'm hoping you can get one of those sample quarts that are cheap. If not, buy the cheapest BM qt. you can get. You don't need nuance, you need a sample big enough to put on some walls as high as you can reach and as low as near baseboard) Get your painting tray and roller out. Paint the entry to your bedroom. You're gonna be painting something in there anyway, so go for it. Then, walk into it for a few days. Let it surround you. If you have bedding, see how it looks on the wall color. That's not over-thinking, that's working on your problem.

And FWIW, I like the idea of a red toile, or a soft blue toile, or a soft gold toile, or cream bedding, or anything else that produces an Ahhhhhhhh....

redbazel - THANK YOU so much for putting so much thought into that response!! I plan on getting some samples of Palladian Blue and Wythe Blue (next color down on chip) and painting different sections to see which looks best. The more pics I see of that color, the more I like. (And here I have been painstakingly trying to work around sage, yellows, reds, thinking I was locked into one color pallette.) I know aquamarine colors like this are the big trend right now, but I have always found them to be soothing and tranquil (exactly what I want in a master bedroom!)

I did not see the entire picture of the Hal Williamson room but I would love to. I will try to google that and see if I can find it.

As for the whole wheat thing, when I hold up the paint chips, the palladian looks "weak" next to the whole wheat. I am thinking the Wythe Blue might work better alongside it, although Wythe looks darker than I am wanting to go. But I am going to try both shades out and see how the lighting in the room plays with the colors. I can tell already that PB couples well with yellow, but whole wheat (although in the yellow family) has green undertones and that is why I was concerned. I have seen darker navy blues paired with whole wheat; but not aquamarine.

My quest for bedding is ever-evolving as well!!! I have been gravitating towards solid creamy white linen bedding and maybe a coverlet or sham that has toile in it for that punch of pattern. This will all come together, I just need to be patient and take it one step at a time.

Although I did it the opposite way (bedding first then picked a paint color) the walls in our master bedroom are Palladian Blue and our summer bedding is Pottery Barn Matine Toile in porcelain blue (quilt and shams) with the Hanna quilt (also porcelain blue) folded at the bottom of the bed for some solid contrast. This winter I replaced the toile quilt with a white down comforter and fold the solid quilt at the bottom of the bed. I really like both looks. I bought both the toile quilt and shams and the solid so that I could do some mixing and matching.

The Palladian Blue is a lovely color in our very bright (south and west facing windows) room.

Wish I could attach a couple of pictures but am spending a bit of time in Arizona.

Whythe blue is an amazingly beautiful color. It also goes well with the wheat.

nutmegxo--I really love the Wythe Blue color! I do exactly what justretired does with alternating the all cream bedding and the PB Matine Toile. This winter I did purchase a deep red floral comforter just to have more warmth in the room. In the Spring I'll go back to something lighter. I think you sound like you are in the right direction. I know exactly what you mean about the PB being weak next to the whole wheat. I tend to like paint colors that are about the same darkness or hue. Whenever I go really light, I am never as satisfied with the results. You have me thinking about the Wythe Blue now! I need to stay off this site!

Welllll guess what??!! I bought samples of palladian blue and wythe blue today and I am in massive love with BOTH colors but hubby and I agree that the palladian blue is the better choice. The Wythe Blue is VERY pretty, but just a little too dark and intense for such a large room. It might be perfect for our master bathroom though (which we plan on doing in the fall. The Palladian Blue is so dreamy and serene but at the same time is not dull...it seems to have a cheerful quality to it as well. I can see how it changes so much as the lighting changes. It is funny, because when I held the paint chip up to my whole wheat hall in the hallway, the PB looked weak but once on the walls it looks nice with the whole wheat nearby. The WB looks to be the same as whole wheat as far as darkness goes and almost seems to compete with it. I like the subtle contrast of the softer PB next the medium tone of the golden wheat color. Being that my furniture is dark, the PB seems like the best choice.

Some of you are mentioning the Matine bedding by pottery barn - that is very pretty bedding! Right now I am looking into getting creamy off-white linens - maybe a creamy white duvet and coverlet. I might get a sham in an aquamarine color and maybe some toile shams to add a touch of color to the bed. I am so very excited that I have found such a beautiful color that works well and I could not have done it without all of your help so THANK YOU! I will start painting this weekend :)

Yes I will be sure to post pics! It is going to take me a couple weekends to complete the paint job as I only do one section at a time because it is a large room and I have kids to contend with :) LOL
