woven/bamboo shades-inside or outside mount?

I really like the look of woven wood shades and have decided to use these in my 2 guest bedrooms. One bedroom only has one window that is 59" high and 35" wide, and it's set near the corner of the room. I don't think I've seen many pictures of these types of shades with outside mounts, so I'm wondering if that would be best in this room. There is no casing per se, it's just drywall with the windowsill and no mouldings. Any advice or suggestions? Does anyone have other suggestions on where to find them reasonably priced? I don't want to spend a fortune on these rooms which are rarely used, but I do want them to look nice and last a long time.

Are you going to do drapes also? If you aren't doing drapes, I think inside mounting would look good. Joni over at Cote de Texas debates this issue. If you are doing drapes and outside mount the same height as the rod looks best I think.

If you are just doing the blinds, I would go with an outside mount, particularly since you don't have window casings. Have you checked Overstock.com? I think they are having a sale on shades.

If you're ordering it custom, it should have the hooks centered so it'll be balanced and won't dip. Have you measured both the top AND the bottom of your windows? I've gotten caught more than once thinking they'd be the exact same.

Those are cordless, aren't they? There are too many children killed every year from cords on shades. There is a big push to make all window treatments safer because of the injuries. Most manufacturers are trying to make adjustments, but it's a big expense. Some lawsuits have resulted and even the people making the shades have been named in the suits. Sorry I got off topic, but I just get nervous when I see a set up like yours. We don't even sell anything with cords if they are installed in a kids' bedroom.

I'd do inside mount. If I could, I would make the center window into 3 separate but abutting shades. I would have them capable of dropping to the floor, even if that meant that when you lowered the shades, you had to pull them out a bit to clear the lower window frame. Of course this doesn't mean you have to lower them that far, but you should have the capability. The wider the shades are, the more expensive and the heavier to lift, plus it puts more strains on the strings and makes them more likely to break. So going narrower has its benefits.

To answer your question regarding mixing window treatments..Yes, absolutely you can mix curtain styles and unify the look with using same fabric or shape. Is this your home? I might suggest painting the window molding white to not attract so much attention to all the windows. I think an attractive solution to the quarter round windows is to mount an upholstered valance/lambrequin on the top portion of window giving the window shape a overall rectangle appearance. It is a DIY project that is relatively simple. You could choose a bold stripe or print and drapery panels in a coordinating solid for your other windows. I like the color of the ones pictured. I think your drapery rod height is fine. It is really a cute place. Good luck.

Not erribly fancy - just got mine at BB&Beyond. But I prefer inside mount.

I'm not planning on adding drapes for either room, just the shades. MCPS, thanks for the photo- that's fairly similar to one of my guest rooms, which has 3 windows in a row, with the middle one being bigger. I think those 3 windows will definitely look best with an inside mount, but I wasn't sure for the other window I described below.

I did check overstock.com, but I'm looking for shades that have a privacy liner in them. Mcps, do the ones at BB&Beyond include liners?

One more question- has anyone ever ordered from Steve's Blinds? I've been checking prices and theirs starts at about $57 versus $85 from some of the other online companies.
