Sometimes I think I look ok, sometimes absolutely horrible, depends on the day.

Yes, except for the bags under my eyes.

Well, I haven't scared any children or puppies, but
I'm not sure what "attractive" means really.

I think we all, at least I do, have a different vision
of ourselves sometimes than what other people see.

LOL I guess I'm saying, "I don't know". Some days
I feel very attractive, some days not.

As a young woman I was attractive. I did some print and runway modeling. Not *beautiful*, just pretty -- and now I think a lot of that appeal was good skin and coloring, heavy hair and pretty hands. (All gone now except the hair texture.)

Now, past 65, I guess I've fallen into that 'invisible woman' segment. I don't 'attract' anyone who doesn't already know me!

My DH still likes me. I'm still 5' 6" and 115 lbs. It just isn't 'distributed' as nicely!

As long as I'm attractive to my husband, everyone else can jump in the lake. In this day when everyone is made to feel badly about gettting older, sagging and having wrinkles (a natural occurence), I let my child see me naked with stretch marks, etc. I don't want her to grow up thinking the only people who are "attractive" are emaciated ones or 73 years old with taut faces (think Joan Rivers' philosophy). Beauty is in the eye of the beholder anyway.

I look back at photos of younger self and wonder why I didn't think I was pretty then, I don't think I am now as age marches on...

I look okay for my age (62) for the most part...if I pull myself together a little.

I've always had the kind of face girls go for.
I still remember them referring to me as gopher face.

I've gone through my life believing I'm not: having glasses, thick calves & ankles, mediocre bustline, etc., etc., etc. But I have just spent a few hours going through my & others' photo albums in preparation for a memory album for friends' 50th anniversary. I've been surprised & pleased at how "decent" I looked, & sorry for all the years of not appreciating myself.

I think so,even bald and 71 yrs old now.Hair should be starting to grow back soon.

My DH thinks so, and that's what matters. Even if I do see my mom looking back at me from the mirror! At least I'm tall, and that helps a bit.

Usually no, although I have days where I think I look pretty good... hair lays right, the outfit looks cute, makeup is smooth.

I always thought my mother was pretty, and know from conversation I later heard that the neighborhood men thought the new woman who moved into the neighborhood was attractive, and wished I looked like her. Now when I look in the mirror I can see her, but as she looked when she became very old!!

I've never been called pretty or beautiful, but in high school I was told many times that I was "cute". I still smile when I think of that.

Yes, I do! And I think I'm getting better every day! Getting older has never bothered me. Looking best for my age is my goal. There are tons of people out there older than me, who I am sure think I look great!

Well most days before noon in nigthy, robe, no makeup and hair not done....no, I would not consider myself attractive and not today either as I sit here with a head full of curlers after just coloring my hair. LOL Hubby and our daughter think I am attractive and they are the only ones that matter to me.

Well, kinda...when I wanna be I suppose! my son recently saw a high school senior picture of me and sweetly smiled saying, "Gee mom, you were a looker." He must have felt bad about the way he had phrased his compliment and with that same sweet smile...winked and said..."and you still are." Just goes to show how little he really knows about 60 year old moms except they do laundry and cook! Made my day anyway! that young whipper snapper!

Classic beauty? No way. But I have always attracted others and still do to this day so I guess I must be attractive in other ways that count for something.

At one time, I did consider myself reasonably attractive, but not a 'hunk'. I was on the track team and was in pretty good shape. I competed in the discus and mile run, and did not fool myself. I was at average to below in competition, but my physical appearance did benefit. My forte in highschool was good grades and I had develped a mechanical bent which was to lead my direction for the rest of my life.

Today, I am old and too fat around the middle to be really attractive. My face held up pretty well until age 70, and then one day I had just gotten over a bout with the flu, had my glasses on, and really looked at myself in the mirror and I saw a grandfather. My youth was gone. The truth was painful. Attractive? Hardly! But I did look like someone who might buy a kid an icecream and listen to his day's adventure. My role has changed.

I thought so (more or less - though neighbours took a picture of me with a puffball a little larger than a foot across a couple of years ago that gave me an inkling) ...

... until I saw those pics that Caroline took during my trip out west last year.

I guess I'll have to settle, more or less, for claiming inner beauty. With a smile on my face.

This is a hard one to answer. I think certain things about myself are ok (like my figure), but I really don't like my face. Whenver I look at a picture of myself, I don't like how I look. I always find that I am comparing myself to others and when I'm with a friend who I think is realy pretty, I feel self-conscious and not attractive.

I suppose I am in a grey-haired, overweight 61 year old kind of way. I clean up well and have been told I am a "beautiful goddess woman" whatever that means (by my SIL who is into all that sort of thing) but I have my doubts. My DH thinks I'm attractive but he sort of has to - along the lines of the question, "Do these jeans make my butt look big?" he has to give the right response. I don't like my body at all but I have good hair - silver grey with an intense royal blue swath on the right side.

Yes, I consider myself attractive. I use to do some runway modeling during my younger days(early 20's). Didn't like doing that or the people I had to deal with so stopped doing it. I had a lot of boyfriends of my choice so it helped there also. I still occasionally get hit on so I guess I'm not that bad at the age of 53. What's more important my hubby thinks I'm still attractive! NancyLouise

Physically ... taking the time to wear some makeup and select the right clothes to wear, helps.

Personality ... I try to enjoy those around me as I believe that is a more attractive feature than the physical look. But sometimes I hear nasty little thoughts in my head and I have to work hard not to let them pop out of my mouth. That is *not* attractive.

I always say....I may notbe beautiful but I'm sure darn cute.

I'm on the back side of 50. Like Judge Judy says, "Beauty fades..." - and that causes me no problem anymore. I do think I could be described as "well pulled together" and that is just fine with me! I plan to always stay "well pulled together" no matter how long I live.

I plan to age gracefully, with great dignity and have begun that process - it's not a bad place to be at all. I find it's far more rewarding than the angst filled beauty of youth *LOL*

I think I am average, but I bet to most people on this site I am fat, that I've "let myself go", that I need to "hit the gym", that I need to get dental work, etc, etc, etc.

Casey, I was reading recently on a travel site that a lot of Europeans think we Americans have "freakishly white" teeth. LOL! That we all wear braces to make our teeth perfectly straight and get veneers or use bleach trays all the time and have Chicklet-like teeth. I thought that was funny and maybe a little true of those in the media and Hollywood.

Some days yes and some days no. I think inner beauty is the best to have.

If a person (mainly female, perhaps) is beautiful at 16 ... not much credit to her.

If s/he is beautiful at 60 ... s/he had much more of a hand in that result.

I feel somewhat sad that so many of you feel rather substantially displeased with yourselves ... though, as some say, perhaps it's being rather realistic.

I'm much more interested in what a person's emotional makeup, knowledge, interests, outlook on life, concern for others and psyche are like that what appears on their face or body.

If you don't love yourself ... it's pretty hard to be able to love others very effectively.

I feel just like nycefarm and Katleenca. I look at old pictures and kick myself for not appreciating how cute I was. Maybe 10 years from now, I'll look at pictures and thing the same thing!!

I used to be attractive and cute and I liked my picture taken. Now I don't like having my picture taken. I'm not ugly put at 52 I don't look as nice as I used to. I look okay for 52 though.
