I've done mine in the morning, in the middle of the day, I don't care. I found that I only need to clean my face once a week. On the other days I just use a wet wash cloth or else my face is now TOO DRY. I use to be able to fry an egg with all the oils my face made, seriously it was bad. I LOVE THIS. Let me know how you like it. My face is now sooo soft!!! Okay maybe not but hey it's not oily any more, which I love!

Can you post the "recipe" again please.I bought castor oil yesterday but could only find sunflower oil in a big bottle for almost $7.00! Didn't get it because I would never use that much.I'll look at whole foods or one of the health food stores and see if I can find a smaller container.Guess I could put the rest in the fridge but I really didn't want to get that much.

Your Personal Oil Blend

The starting point for creating your own, personalized skin cleansing oil blend is knowing your general skin type. Those with dry skin will want less Castor Oil. Those with oily skin will want to blend in more. Finding your perfect combination of oils will probably take a little bit of trial and error, so start with very small batches.

Once you know what your ratio of oils looks like, you'll be able to blend much more at a time for convenience.

Some suggestions in creating your blend of deep cleansing oil:

Oily Skin: Try a blend of 30% Castor Oil to 70% Sunflower Seed Oil.

Balanced Skin: Try a blend of 20% Castor Oil to 80% Sunflower Seed Oil.

Dry Skin: Try a blend of 10% Castor Oil to 90% Sunflower Seed Oil.

You can vary these percentages to match your own skins needs. If your skin feels too dry, you'll need to use less Castor Oil and replace it with more Sunflower Seed Oil.

Keep in mind that Castor Oil is the drawing, cleansing, and purging oil for your pores. The Sunflower Seed Oil is to dilute the Castor Oil in viscosity (thickness) and additionally provide moisture, nutrients, and other benefits. My own, personal blend, for my sometimes oily, sometimes dry, frequently flakey, and easily irritated skin is about 25% Castor Oil to 75% Sunflower Seed Oil. I mix and store my mixture in a clean four-ounce flip-top bottle for convenience. When you go to replenish your oil blend, I suggest cleaning your bottle thoroughly with dish soap or the dishwasher. Better yet, if you can replace the bottle, this is ideal. We want to be extremely cautious in introducing bacteria to the bottle.

Sooo..should you spend the $7 on a bottle of sunflower oil if you don't know if you'll even like this method...no, use a different oil, like olive oil. You probably have that in the house. If you like it, THEN spend the money. I just bought the sunflower oil figuring if I didn't like it, then I'd just use the sunflower oil in cooking, but I really like it!!!

I use to wash my face daily, if I didn't wash it, or only used water some mornings..I'd have enough oil to fry an egg....NOW I wash it with this once a week or so, in the morning I wet it down, and that's it. No soap or my skin is too dry!!! It is great!! My face feels cleaner than it ever did before.

Thanks Vickey.I have been using an olive oil based line of products from HSN that I really like but I'm out of it so I may try the olive oil with this.

My mother used to sneak in castor oil with her FRESHLY SQUEEZED orange juice when I was sick.

Not for cleaning the face,though, tee hee!

Glenda-When I was pregnant with my first baby in 1961 the doctor told me to take castor oil to possibly start my labor.My mother worked in a drug store and she mixed the castor oil with root beer syrup from the fountain and fizzed carbonated water into it.I could hardly taste the castor oil.I also remember taking it in orange juice as a kid.

I started with the oil on Sunday. My nose seems less oily, but my forehead is still an oil slick. I've been using it every morning. I'll keep at it. Hopefully it will start working on the forehead soon.

Hmmm..wonder what I got..I got my sunflower WHATEVER now that I don't know in the organic section of cub. Don't know if it's sunflower oil or sunflower seed oil??? Oh well it works, I spent $7 on it and I aint changing cuz I am too cheap to buy something different!

Jeane, I wonder if you have to adjust your oils, more of one less of the other? That way your forehead won't be so oily? Maybe a little more caster oil?

My face is actually kinda dry now and I only "wash" it once a week, just wipe with wet cloth the other days!

Jeane, do you drink a lot of green tea? I went on a health kick last August trying to clear up my complexion and lose weight. As time progressed my face and scalp got oilier and oilier and itched. And my nose kept peeling (huh?).

I went to a dermatologist twice trying to figure out what was going on and they were puzzled. Nothing they gave me helped.

Finally, last month I Googled oily skin and green tea and his a forum that had quite a discussion on how green tea can start the production of testosterone. I stopped drinking green tea the next day and my skin is back to normal.

Nobody has mentioned how to take the cleanser off.Do you use a wet cloth or just wipe with tissue? I always use a wet cloth for whatever cleanser I have used.

You use a HOT wet wash cloth, hold it to your face for a bit, so it soaks in, then wipe off. What doesn't wipe off.

We want the water to be warm enough to open your pores and remove the oil. Cool water will not open your pores, nor will it remove the oil efficiently. We're essentially steaming our skin as an esthetician would, but without the luxury of a steam machine.

I don't drink green tea. I do drink a lot of regular iced tea, however. My forehead is still an oil slick. This weekend I added some more castor oil to the mix, we'll see if that helps. The initial bumps have subsided..and my pores are really cleaning up well. Just need to get my forehead under control.

I never apply oil or lotions to my facial skin. I still have oily skin, which I've had since I was 11 years old. Oily skin and pimples. I wash with soap and warm water.
