Scanpan skillets

DS is almost 30 and does a lot of cooking. His sister tells me that a Scanpan skillet (large size) is on his wish list. I'd never heard of Scanpan, so I've been checking it out online. It seems to be a good-quality frying pan with a "green" nonstick surface that resists scratching, and it can go in the oven. But it's quite pricey, and the reviews are mixed: I read several that said the nonstick surface lasted only a couple years. (My own experience is with T-Fal pans with Teflon coating; they also last only a few years, but they cost far less, so I don't mind replacing them when the need arises. But the disadvantage is that they're not oven-proof.)

Do any of you have experience with the Scanpan? Are you happy with it, or is it "overrated and overpriced," as one reviewer stated?
