Tell me how to do a background/criminal check

I suggested to someone that they do a background and criminal check on a guy they plan to live with. She doesn't know this guy very well because she met him on the internet. The scary part is there's no way to know if he really gave her his right name, but it's still worth a try. Only thing is neither I nor she know where to begin looking. I remember it was discussed here before but don't recall the recommendations. Thanx so much.

Please no opinions of the circumstances. I am not trying to judge her. I'm just hoping to find help. Thanx again.

Have her call the police department where he says he lives, and let them do it for her. Please be careful - some people might resent having their history checked, and can be nasty - I would not get involved - she's a big girl - let HER do the checking if she wants to know!

County courthouse has records. Thats where we had to go for DS's. I can't remember but think it was Clerk of Court's office. They print it out for you and its free! (at least here) It shows anything he'd have been in court for. From traffic tickets up.

Beth, you and your geese are very welcome... It was just a blind guess about the snapper, but for once I was right on the money. Now it looks as though Coldiron has a similar problem. If you want to train your geese to go to the barn, I suggest you start soon. Make them work a little for the treats. Reward them for walking with you. Pick a cheery little song and make it their travelling music. My geese walk with me to a version of "Three little ducks that I once knew" expcept it's "Nine little geese" and I improvise the lyrics. Thank goodness the neighbours are not too close and are a whole lot weirder than I am! When I put them in for the night, I march them to "Row, row, row your boat" and it really does help get them into their house. For your geese, I suggest one song for everything. Sing it when they are coming to you for treats, when they follow your for more treats and work a little closer to the barn once they get the idea. If you feed them grain or pellets at night, work the dish closer and closer to the barn too. By the time winter comes, they will trust you enough (I hope) for you to be able to sing them right into the barn for the cold nights. Geese are also fairly easy to herd. Don't rush them or they will scatter in a panic, but keep a slow, even pressure on them. A long stick in either hand (I use my cane) will make your left/right signals clearer to them. If you want them to go to the left, raise your right arm. If you wan tthem to go right, raise your left. Both arms extended equally and they will go more or less straight forward. It takes a little practice, but it is comforting to know that you can move them away from danger if necessary... or even make them go into the barn in really bad weather. Sheila, I'm glad you would like some Pilgrim eggs. We must do this. It would be lovely to think that some of "my" geese were in your keeping. Also, from a conservationist point of view, it would please me very much to get those genes in as many places as possible. Pilgrims are such super geese but they will be in a bad way unless their gene pool can be maximized. My Willow is of Californian stock, a bit short in the legs but a lovely little goose even so. Ben and Elsie are breeder/show quality from Holderread's via my local hatchery. With all the travel expenses, the pair cost me CDN $75. (They went by air from Oregon to Buffalo and then travelled by car from Buffalo to Prince Edward County. They were only 24 hours in transit and were not stressed when they arrived.) Worth every cent...They look really good and should produce good goslings.

I was putzing around with Zabasearch last night my oldest SD19 comes in wants to look up her mom (I had already punched her name in I was looking for me I do not exist!!!) She then says "hey can I go after her for the back support she owes dad" ... I said I have no idea ... she was ordered to pay $25 a week ... 15 years ago. I thought she might want to reconnect with mom for nostalgia purposes ... NOPE just wants some play money I guess :)

To people who work with me "light side", I am pretty much as marknmt describes - I don't have a problem doing work. The problem I have is basically that I never bothered to "grow up". I do my work reliably and effectively, and it's not always work that I like doing. Out of the 3Â½ years I just spent at MSP, I spent the majority spraying dishes and pushing them through a sanitizer. I did it religiously and reliably enough that the supervisors began looking to me for recommendations on who else to hire/fire. Heck, they called me in on my days off because 950 dishes took about twice as long to wash when I'm not there... And about the only thing that job EVER had in common with my "chosen vocation" is that, once in a while, they'd let me take the dishwasher apart and tinker with it when it broke. Big. 480. Many relays. Love it. The question I posted here was only about the electrician licensing thing, but there's a lot more on my mind, really. The current, bigger employment problem is that, while everyone who takes the chance and ever actually talks to me usually ends up liking me, the entire freakin' application process EVERYWHERE has gone completely online, and there are no humans in the process anywhere! All the humans see is the results of their cute little multiple-choice job application programs, which pretty much make me look like some sort of ax murderer. And regarding murders having the highest rate of parole success... After having met and lived with a large number of all types of offenders, I have _no_ problem believing that at all. The easiest people to get along with in the prison environment pretty much were murders. Drug dealers are usually the worst. Burglars and other property criminals are in the middle somewhere, and non-homicidal violent offenders are all over the place since the conditions surrounding their offenses are so widely varied.

Not an expert but I'll give a try. I've always used fabric for binding. Usually one of the fabrics from the top or something that coordinates with the top. I've always picked a dark color for the binding but I don't think that's a rule. Yes. 100% cotton only though traditionally quilts were made from whatever was available. Use whatever thread your machine likes. Quilting threads are usually for hand quilting unless it says otherwise. Wash all fabric together with a color catcher. If they bleed a lot, wash again. I washed my kona turquoise with the white I was planning to use. Though the turquoise did bleed a lot, the white came out clean. Use a 1/4" foot if available. Otherwise mark a quarter inch from the needle with painters tape or something similar to use as a guide. There are hundreds of YouTube videos on all stages of quilting. Watch a few if you learn better from visuals than words. There were not many when I started quilting but I've learnt a lot from them. Vasu

You can do it online for about $35, or you could a few years ago. She will need details though - like previous addresses, possibly SSN.

Some states...like Iowa, have all their records on-line. All you need is their name and if you have an age it makes it easier.

We found this out when the adoption agency was checking out 'sperm donor'. Now, each time the girls go out with someone new, that is the FIRST thing that is checked!!! I LOVE that site.

First, I'd check Zabbasearch to see if his name/addresses pan out.

Next, I'd check the sexual offender's list for your area.

Then, what about your local newspaper? Ours has a link on their website that takes you to a page where you can do a state-wide search of a number of different things (property transfers, criminal convictions, etc.) I've put a few names in and have found some very interesting things out. It seems pretty thorough.

And definitely ask the local police for their input.

I've found roommates online before (craigslist) and know many other people who have also. It's very common now, especially in cities where people rent out "rooms", and it is really no different than an ad in the paper or all the many websites to find roommates.

Almost any apartment you try to rent makes you do a backround check, so I highly doubt the guy would be offended by her wanting one.

I used Intelius.com before I met Rich in person (many years ago). He doesn't know that I did a background check but it gave me peace of mind.

I didn't think to mention that money is a very big issue.
I'll check Zabbasearch and Intellius to see if/how much they charge.

Zabbasearch.com is free. And I think most of the others you can check one name for about $7 or $8 dollars.

Zabbasearch.com is NOT free - it refers you back to Intelius.com - I would guess, that unless you want to pay, you won't find out much.

zabasearch is free, but only for some addresses and some phone numbers. If you want more info than that, it refers you to places where you have to pay for the info.

I'm not sure if this will help. But we use these companies for Little League Volunteers. I live in a town that has a Navy Base, so our state one does no good on some people, because they've lived all over.

oh but the deal with Choice point..if you enter their current address..and anything pops up..them or a same name(not them) they will get a mailing of all the hits.

I am from Iowa also and wonder what is the exact Web Site you use. I went to Iowa Court Records and didn't have much sucess. Do get the results right away or do they email.?
I probably should have started another thread but thought maybe you would check this again.
