You've been made. LOL!

I have a shrub outside of my Computer Room. My chair is literally, 2 foot from the Cardinals resting there. I keep hoping they will build a nest their so I can spy.

I'd much rather have Cardinals nesting than those House Sparrows. I opened and raised my Martin house last night, and I think those d*mn HS were at it before I got back to the deck. I'll lower it today and wait for a sighting of the Martins. Should be any day.

LOL....at this point I don't want ANY of them nesting up there...we have many trees they can have any of them. They really made a mess up there. DH cleaned most of it off last weekend, but it sure upset mama! She ruffled her feathers all week when we went out there. If I could actually see them I'd feel better about it...at least I could watch them grow up LOL....I can sure hear them though. It's amazing how many bugs they eat all day...this bird is coming and going constantly with a new bug for them.

My sister and I painted her garage once in the spring, after moving around to one side, a bird kept swooping at us as we got to the end low and behold a nest up on top! Boy did we paint fast! LOL

We had an infestation of swallows' nests our first year here. They built their nests under the eaves by DDs bedroom during some bad weather, so we did not notice. At first I thought they were interesting. Her bedroom became infested with bird mites when the baby birds started to leave the nest, and so badly infested that we moved her into the guest room to avoid all the bug bites. We sprayed the stucco as best we could, but it took several weeks before the mites were finally gone.

Every year a robin makes a nest in the huge rhododendron next to my father's garage door, and then it acts all offended when people walk by. We frequently get buzzed by it.

I read that you have to keep the purple martin houses down or covered until you see them start to arrive. The first year you have it the old Martins won't take it, they already have a home. It's last years babies that will take your new box, and they are a little later in arriving.

Like every year I have little chickadees building a nest in my easvestrough near the front door and with all the snow that was melting off the roof yesterday from the snowstorm the night before I was hoping it washed away the nest. They sure were busy little creatures today all cheerful as they spent time rebuilding their nest.

Out my front window everyday I have been watching the battle of the squirrel vs starlings. Every winter the same squirrel nests in a hole in the tree and every spring the starlings come and chase him out but this time the squirrel doesn't want to leave because he probably knows we still have some winter left. LOL The hole is like a time share - now it is the starlings turn but the squirrel won't leave. That poor squirrel is chased up and down and the birds dive at him. I feel sorry for the squirrel, those birds can be viscious.

Maybe the squirrel didn't keep up his mortgage payments and got foreclosed ... it wouldn't be a female, so irresponsible, would it?

Now the new owners are trying to evict him?

I'll trade you for a Downy Woodpecker Pecking On A Metal Roof! What a racket each morning. This is third year in row for this alarm each morning! Silly bird.

Sue, that is true. I did have Purple Martins here last year. They were at the neighbors house. So, I figured the babies would be here this year. The migration map shows the scouts as far north as northern Nebraska, and the sub adults as far north as northern Oklahoma.
I get them every year at the cabin. In fact, I installed a brand new housing unit for them. One I can crank up and down to monitor. The old unit isn't that easy to check, but it's always full. When I get some extra money, I'll change out the old unit.
