We had an awfully long day yesterday and so I wound up falling asleep in my chair after dinner and woke up too late to Solstice Sow ;-( But I did it first thing this morning, so, close enough. All of my varieties will attract butterflies, I've got that covered well. Remembrance ~ I wanted to do Veteran's Poppies and I thought I had a pack set aside but I guess I shared it away, so for Dad, who was called Poppy, I sowed an extra large pack of 'Mikado' California Poppies. Life ~ Daylilies. I collected the seeds from all my daylilies this year and added in some seeds I had acquired (ehem) from a visit Hubs and I made to the Queens Zoo a few months back. Many of my own daylilies I grew from seed so in this batch are a few "next generation" which makes it kinda nice. I also don't know the colors of the zoo dayilies as they were nothing but leaves and brown stems--the whole big batch will be a surprise. Depending upon how it works out I may get a border of daylilies to run along a fence front--which would be very nice. Mother Nature ~ Mexican Buckeyes, these are also for Faith as they're marginal in 7b and I'm 7a. What's not to love with these--nice leaves, pretty pink flowers and small nuts that critters can munch. Leap of Faith ~ Canna, I can get them to sprout but I can never get them to winter over and come back the next year. Crossing fingers as I would love to have a permanent planting of these.

Hi Novice, I am looking at BM Winter Solstice for my kitchen- just one color below Silver mist. It looks very muted, not too bright or pastel. We'll see! I do plan on trying out a sample first so I won't have a do-over! It's been awhile since u posted- have u painted yet?

I really can't tell a difference between Metallic Silver and Feather Gray from the strips. Good job looking at strips. Online rooms with paint color examples provide some color information, but can't count on them for accuracy especially when it comes to the nuances of color. Metallic Silver is more toned, or grayed down more and has a slightly stronger edge of purple to it. My guess is that Metallic Silver has just a snidge more magenta in the mix. LRV is 57.9 Feather Gray is just slightly more clear in color than Metallic Silver. They're really close. And it would read with a truer, bluer edge to the grayness of the color than the M. Silver would (in a balanced light source any way). LRV is 58.8. LRV is number that tells you how light or how dark a color could feel/look once it's up. Metallic S. and Feather G. are really close in LRV, wouldn't say one is darker or lighter than the other.

I would definitely use a white paint. You want the contrast even though it's subtle.
