Almost Finished kitchen - need decorating help please!

We have nearly finished our kitchen remodel in our 1870's farmhouse. I am very happy with how it has all come together. However I need some decorating advice. I would like to add some punch and have several questions about accessorizing. The cabinets are cream painted and stained alder. The counters are soapstone. All appliances are stainless. The backsplash above the range is quilted stainless. The paint is Devine Cafe. The floors are Premium Noce Travertine. I am making window treatments from a cream and black large print linen.

1. Any suggestions for a backsplash material? We have considered stone, subway tile and beadboard.

2. Would some yellow tone pottery give the room the right punch of color?

3. How would a small pot rack over the island look? Would it close in or crowd the space too much?

4. I have a vintage hand hooked rug that is too fragile for the floor. How would it look to frame it for the wall?

5. I would like to have a stool to pull up to the island. What style would look appropriate?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!
