Something strange today?

Is it just me or is something in the air?

Today my TV controls won't work the TV, it will turn it on & off and raise the sound but nothing else on both controls. Then I go to our website to add a recipe and it went haywire!! It changed everything and kept moving things around. I think I got it fixed after 2 hours.

I thought it might be a virus but I don't seem to be having any other problems anywhere else.

No problem here. We have Brighthouse. Do you have cable or is your TV/computer through satellite? Hope your problem is over.

everything you wanted to know about zinc, but was afraid to ask! Oxidation occurs when metal is exposed to air or water, and electrons from the metal transfer to the oxygen. The die-casting process uses a two-piece steel die and a casting press to hold the die halves together during injection of the molten metal. Inside the steel die is a cavity that has the negative image of the part to be cast. The molten metal is injected into the cavity under pressure, accurately filling the entire void. The metal cools, and the press opens the die halves, revealing the formed part. The zinc cast parts are very close to the desired shape, requiring little machining before they are placed into an assembly. Typical applications include copier, aircraft, and medical instrument parts. Automobile makers use zinc die castings for emblems, moldings, door handles, and brackets. Zinc die castings are easily chrome plated for durability and appearance. This application is called a "sacrificial anode." The anodes, made of almost Zinc pure zinc, are bolted to aluminum marine engines. During operation in water, especially salt water, the oxidation forms a weak electrical current, which may corrode the hull and engine parts. Since zinc is easily oxidized in the presence of this electrical current, it "sacrifices" itself by corroding quickly, consuming all of the electrical imbalance in the ship. The remaining aluminum hull and engine are not corroded as a result. As it is consumed, the anode must be replaced to assure continued protection. Ooh, I hope not, Christie! But, it is supposed to dip into the high 30's at night for a couple of nights here - no freeze, just brrr cold. I'm glad you guys are seeing the butterflies in Missouri now. I cannot believe the pearl crescents I'm seeing! And the Goatweed Leafwings are still around, too, as well as the Tigers. Saw a few CWs, too. I wonder what is drawing the PCs, other than the dandelions. I have very little to nectar on yet. Just the wild violets (I think it is sororia), dandelions (they like those), and the big viburnum that belongs to my neighbor but leans into my yard. It seems to draw the butterflies, too. My Rues are ready to support the BSTs and GSTs when they show up, too. Milkweed is the only thing I'm lacking for the time being. Hopefully next year it will be up and growing by the time the Monarchs get here. Susan

Could it be the german shepherd chewing on them? Is is possible to post pictures? I am assuming it's a chain link fence, in which case the chain link part will be galvanised steel; you said aluminium tie wire, in which case perhaps it's corrosion? There will be a reaction between aluminium and steel, and the former usually becomes the 'sacrificial' part.

I had to log in, but it wouldn't accept my password. I thought Oh, no! Here we go again.

Went to Comp Help, had no problem there and came back here and bingo, no problem.

Why? I have no idea, but Sylvia might be right; I did notice the full moon last night.

Couldn't find the on/off remote for bedroom tv tore up the room finally found it in a side drawer !!

My PDA was as whacko as Jacko. And while I was at the store I think every kid under the age of 3 was screaming. I was wondering what planetary alignment was setting off spoiled brats....

Yes, my iPod went dead even though it was showing a full battery. This was about an hour and a half ago, 39,000 feet in the air, so I was closer to the moon, lol. My laptop died too and I had charged it overnight. Never happened before. If it's the moon then I better wait before shopping for a new iPod.

My pc wouldn't come on, today. Best Buy said mother board gone, and to replace they would have to get one online.

Now I have a new pc, but lost my pictures and my folders I had in my email, grrrrrrr

We called Dish network, they are sending out another remote. My website is still acting very strange and weebly said they are not having problems. Could I have a virus????

Joann, I recently changed to DISH and one of the things they mentioned was if you lost or broke the remote there would be a $15 charge for a replacement. I'm curios to know if that is true or not?

I don't think its the moon. It has no influence except for gravitaion tugging the creates tides. (It was very romantic last night, however.) But, now solar flares - that's another very real story. Power companies are watching their grids this summer because they are expecting an uptick in solar flare activity. A Solar burst can knock out electronics in satellites and upset long transmission lines. Good northern light shows are expected.

Sue, mine wasn't broke so to speak, the guy talked us throught the process on the phone and it still wasn't working so they are sending another one to us. They never mentioned a charge for it. This also happened when we first got the dish and we were never charged.

Joann, that is good to hear. I haven't lost or broken mine (yet.) They also told me there would be a $15 charge if there was any problem that meant they had to come out to my house.

A couple weeks ago I had NO TV and a message on the screen. I've forgotten what it said, but I called and they sent a Tech out. He said it wasn't connected right and he replaced all the cable. Said there would be a $15 charge or could be as much as $95.

I'm holding my breath to see what the charge will be. I will NOT pay for something that they did wrong.
