I can juggle

I'm an only child, and I played clarinet, sax, and piano when in high school. Probably couldn't play a note now!

I bottle-fed 3 abandoned kittens. We kept one, and she became a beloved pet for 17 years.

When I was 7, I won the jump rope contest at the County Fair...grand prize was $1.00...LOL

I was born the middle child of 5 daughters (spread over 17 years). Since I was oldest of the 3 younger daughters (my older sisters are 11 and 13 years older than I am) I grew up more as the 'oldest' than the 'middle' child.

I jumped out of an airplane at 12 thousand feet...and I will do it again!

My high school class had rwo very interesting people. One was D. Carleton Gadjusek who became a Nobel Prize winner and Marie McDonald who became a movie star.

As a child, we camped at the base of Roman ruins on the Mediteranian for the summer.

I was a staff member on a Presidential campaign. I worked for then Senator Ed Muskie when he ran for President. I was on the staff from 1970-71. He later became Secretary of State during the Carter years.

I once walked up the steps to Masada in Isreal. It was hotter than heck and even back then I had to stop to catch my breath every once in a while.

I was attacked and bitten by a free roaming monkey while in Takasakiyama Monkey Park just outside Beppu, Japan. He went for my throat but I managed to throw my arm up just in time to protect myself. Had a large, colorful souvenir on my upper arm the next day.

As a child I had Polio so was never any good at sport! But I did a few years of ballet lessons to strengthen my muscles.

I wore a cancer bracelet on my left wrist, never taking it off, for over 15 years after my father died of cancer.
I took it off and gave it to my sister last year after her recovery from breast cancer.

I know...only one at a time, but I can't remember from one minute to the next. LOL

I won a hula hoop contest when I was 10 and won the grand prize which was a gyroscope. My mother made my brother and me stop playing with the hula hoop after that because we were already too skinny. LOL!!! I don't think a hula hoop would fit over my waist now.

I once had on a Super Bowl ring.

My DH and I were on a cruise and he kept looking at this man at the end of the bar. I asked him who he was staring at and he said, "That's Garo Yepremian. He was the place kicker on the '72 Miami Dolphins."
By this point I had had several glasses of wine so I got off the stool and went up to Garo and asked to see his Super Bowl ring. He took it off and handed it to me. I put it on my finger - actually I could have put three fingers through there it was so big, and heavy. So I wore the ring on my thumb while we had a chat, thanked him and gave it back.

All this time, DH the major football fanatic, sat there awestruck and didn't say a word. He still feels like kicking himself whenever I mention it.

I once suffered from severe licorice poisoning.

Once, on an overseas flight, I was sitting next to a rather plump, very well dressed, older gentleman.

He was reading, and not talkative. I read a while and then fell asleep in a prim and proper upright position.

I woke up, hours later, with the right side of my face buried in a lapel, my head on a soft, tweed "pillow," and my left arm thrown over a soft shoulder.

I had fallen asleep, turned into him, threw my arm around him, and snoozed away.

I was mortified. I apolgized and asked why on earth didn't he shove me away, wake me up, or make me move.

He said I seemed very comfortable and he didn't mind a bit.

I still blush when I think about it.

OH MY GOD Caroline...nowdays...the man probably would have had you arrested for indecencies...I'm ROFLMBO...(can you tell the passengers I fly aren't nearly as accomodating as yours was!)

A German Shepherd bit me when I was a kid, and I bit it back.

I spent a month every summer during my whole childhood with my aunt and uncle. They raised and raced Standardbred horses. I would go to the track and walk the horses after the race to cool them down, and help out at the barns. I've got several pictures over the years of him and I and his horses in the Winner's circle when he won.

Loved those summers!

I currently care for a total of 8 adopted/stray indoor cats, 6 with special needs:

Donovan: Chronic Renal Failure and Hyperthyroidism (SubQ fluids 5 days a week, Tapazole & Epikitan daily)

Sammy: Feline Herpes (Inteferon, Lysine daily plus Viroptic & Tobramycin when the corneal ulcers flare)

Kenya: Inflammatory Bowel Disease: (Prednisone daily and Flagyl when she starts losing bowel control - aak!)

Scamper: Diabetic and Heart condition: (insulin injections twice a day, Lasix and Atenolol once a day)

Duffy: Chronic bladder infections and crystals: (Methionine acidifier twice a day, c/d prescription food and Clavamox when bladder infections flare)

Gizmo: Anxiety disorder - Spraying outside the litter box when triggered: (Prozac once a day)

I have a grid taped to the inside of my kitchen cabinet with all the medication dosages and timing to keep track of who gets what when.

And they are all doing well :)

I have two tattoos. One on my right hip and one around my right ankle.

I was borm in a 2 storey log house, not a one of modern construction, but an original settler's house made of hand hewn logs.

I never dated or kissed any man but my husband. Have been married 55 years.

I pierced my belly button in my 20's and never told my dad. To this day, he still doesn't know. He would've been completely appauled.

I took it out when I was pregnant with Grant and never put it back in but I dont think the hole completely closed, it's still there.

Another one that I have....once the Phillie Phanatic took my purse and emptied it onto a ball field. I was not very happy.

As a teenager on a scavenger hunt, we called on the house where actor Rock Hudson lived. He invited us in for a short visit.

I've been to the Taj Mahal in India.

I rode a camel in Cairo, heading toward the pyramids. They were only a few blocks away. It was surreal.

I've walked with penguins in Antarctica.

I have also ridden an elephant. When we lived in Ethiopia at the 4th of July festivities on the base they had camel rides instead of pony rides so I also have ridden an camel.

I'm the youngest of 5 kids and was very spoiled.

I'm very scornful. To the point where I will not drink out of a plastic cup (unless I see it come out of the package.)

The last conversation I had with my brother before he died (unexpectedly) was not a nice one. I live with that every day and will regret it as long as I live.

I too have ridden a camel, in Africa. Also kept and often rode a horse when I lived there.

I also rode a camel, in Africa by the side of a river where the women were washing clothes in the water.

This has been great - everyone DOES have a story. Funny thing - we have a lot in common too. Bunch of us have had accordians in our family, had white line fever and have been camel riding. That last one makes me laugh - now that I think of it, I've ridden one too, but don't remember where. I remember being very young, and on some kind of family vacation. My sis and I, both. It was a little scary, but also fun.

I have a scar of my left thigh after I fell off a step ladder when I was 4yrs old and received 15 sutures.

When I was in fourth grade I told my Mom that I wanted to be a librarian when I grew up and that's exactly what I did. I was a reference librarian for many years and I still love to learn new things. I'm forever clipping articles out of the newspapers or magazines with information about useful topics and I keep them in a file cabinet for future reference.

And I too rode a camel. It was at a local carnival.

Have a scar on my leg, where I was showing off on my bicycle saying "look no hands, look no feet" and fell onto a metal drain cover. Went home where mother was having a meeting and she rushed me to doctor.

As he put a clamp on the cut, he said "don't jerk or you'll get a scar" I jerked.
