Good start there. I'm trying to start some passion vine seeds, but they won't sprout for me. I've had them in a wet paper towel on top of my coffee maker where it's warm, for 2 weeks, I used a rasp to thin the 'seed shell' so it will sprout. No luck. Maybe I'll find something in California to bring back. Even if it's seeds, they'll have a month to 6 weeks to do their thing before I could put them outside anyway.

Try peat pellets. I started a few seeds this way and was amazed at how fast they grew.

We're putting in an entire new flower bed in the backyard and other than the roses and a few other things, everything I plant will be seed or bulb. Just can't spend the $$$$ on a mature plant when I can buy a pack of seeds for a buck. Yours look nice and healthy!

About those passion flowers--I tried, too, but they never grew. My DGD#3 and I plant seeds every spring--we'll probably do it next week. We always plant zinnias and sunflowers and this year we're planting morning glories. The first year we did it, she was about 3, I looked over at her and she had this look on her fact I'd never seen before, so I said "are you okay?" and she said "yes. I'm just so happy." I'll never forget that. It's thrilling to watch the seeds grow and then bloom, for her, and it's still thrilling to me, too.

Vannie - I bought sunflower seeds for the grandsons to plant. I thought it would be fun for them to plant them and watch them grow so tall. I bought them each some gardening tools for Easter (they're both 2).

I planted morning glory seeds at our last home. Oh my goodness! I thought those things were going to come in through the window and strangle us in the middle of the night! lololol

Some nice plants to start from seed are Money wort,Schizianthus,zinnias,bells of ireland,and also money plant AKA as silver dollar plant.That last one i always start in a pot that's well marked,because it looks just like weeds when it starts to come up.Then it gets a purple flowermthen turns to the silver dollar.

I prefer to start thing from seed ,more variety that way instead of the same ol'same ol'.

I don't recognize that top plant as money wort - could it be a campanula?

heck, I spent three years trying to get rid of that stuff at our last house!!! You could have had all you wanted. The fire ants LOVED the root sustems so Icouldn't just dig it up. finally used soapy water and left over grease from ccoking red meat. Killed all of the ivy and most of the ants. And the grease didn't attract stray animals. Last I saw the house, the new owners were getting stuff to grow in the dirt so I must not have contaminated it too much.

A poster on another forum sent me some basil seeds. They are just barely poking their little heads up out of the potting soil. Pretty exciting to see some green after this long, cold winter.
